Today, when I was in the shower, I wondered if any of the fellow Disers have boughten these type of products anywhere other than a salon. I'm talking TJMaxx, Marshalls or even Target and Walmart. The grocery stores even have some of these products. Salons would include the likes of Cost Cutters, Ulta, and Trade Secrets. I know there have been investigative reports on this subject matter. Currently, the conditioner I am using is Rusk, from Marshalls. I had a merchandise credit to use. So, what about you?

The only salon item I buy is a mud my hairdresser uses on my hair and I love how it feels, smells, and how it works. I have short, layered, curly hair, so when I want a "style" (usually only on weekends) I love the mud stuff. I used to buy Redken and Paul Mitchell products, but now I use Panteen shampoo and conditioner and my mousse is John Frieda (the best non-frizz mousse out there!) from Target and IMO they work just as well, if not better.

Proper grammar is have you bought. There is no such word as boughten.

I see the grammar police are out in full force.

The only salon product we buy is a shampoo that helps to remove the chlorine from our hair. If dd's starts to turn a bit green from the pool, it will take that out in a snap.

Other than that everything we use is from WalMart.

My hair is shorter and curly, I use a gel and scrunch spray every morning and diffuse it dry. DD's is long and full and she straightens it every day. She uses a "straightner" shampoo from Panteen and sprays it with a Flat Iron Spray that I think is from "bed head" or something of that nature.

Salon prices are just too far out of my budget. The claifying shampoo to remove the chlorine is the only one important enough to me to pay those prices. :scared1:

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I have long curly hair and love this mousse!!

I do try to correct my child's grammar but not a stranger's, even when it really bugs me. If I were to correct their grammar, they may feel the need to correct my manners. Just saying.:rolleyes1

To the OP- I never buy my hair products at a salon. They are too pricey and I can think of better ways to spend that money. But then, I am a SAHM and my hair is in a ponytail 90% of the time! :lmao:

I buy them where I find them. I use bedhead for shampoo and conditioner. My styling products are biosilk and Chi.

how rude!

WHATEVER...I wasn't rude. I nicely told OP that there was no such word as boughten. I would like to know if I was not speaking properly. We set examples for our children and adults need to learn to speak correctly. Judge Judy came down on a lady the other day for saying tooken.

OP I have bought stuff in places like TJ Maxx with no issues.....

I use the Apple Ginseng Back to Basics shampoo & conditioner. Bought the 33.8oz bottles for $10 each on sale at Ulta about a month or so ago.

Usually salon brands don't have the same quality when you purchase them in drugstores or grocery stores. I have picked some up from TJ Maxx and think they're just fine, though. I have always loved using Nexxus products and was thrilled when they came down in price and started selling in grocery stores! Still the same great product for about half the price. :thumbsup2

There IS such a word as boughten. It's not proper to use as a verb, but it's used as a common regional dialect in some areas. There's something to be said for appreciation of regional dialects, rather than everyone in the country speaking in a standard dialect. It would be a boring place if everyone spoke, looked and acted the same.

I wonder what Miss Manners has to say about correcting others' grammar outside a classroom. :snooty:

Yes, I do know that BUT OP used it incorrectly. She was asking if anyone had boughten hair care products. Proper grammar is has anyone BOUGHT hair care products.

Maybe I shouldn't have corrected her but it was a bad bad use of the word and I corrected her.

I guess I can see if someone will borrow me some money so I can ask my friends what type of deals they have boughten at the store then they can be tooken home.........

SORRY IF I OFFENDED YOU OP!

To further answer your question I was reading about Pureology hair products the other day. They used to be salon exclusive and now you can buy at Target, etc. So the ones you might be looking at especially at at TJ Maxx or place like that could be from a salon that went under or something. Walmart salons have some decent sales on the products at times. I know my stylist who works from her home will sell me the stuff at cost....if you go to a small place it might be worth asking too.

I have found that alot of times the prices at Target, CVS & other places are the same they are at the Salon. Pennys around here does do a "Sale" around the holidays were you get a % off when you bring in food donations. As far as Diversion goes if you buy it at a chain that has a salon it should be ok.

That just might be true....

When we were traveling through a particular area this summer I heard bad grammar used by so many people, I lost count. This also included several very educated people including teachers; we were shocked!
They said, "I seen..." instead of "I have seen" or "I saw" ...
and apparently its considered ok and quite acceptable for the region. :confused3 :confused3

Whatever. In the scheme of things in life these days, I have bigger fish to fry :) (ie problems to worry about!)

:laughing::headache:

The only shampoo I buy at the salon is one that takes the chlorine out. It's by Cibu and called "Take Out". On days when I don't swim, I use Trader Joe's that costs $2.99 a bottle and lasts a long time and works great.

I am always a bit skeptical of buying those type of products at places like TJMAXX, Marshall's etc. I think they might be very old.....therefore, they wouldn't work as well.
I might be completely wrong, but that is what goes through my mind when I see hair products there.

I have just worked through my HUGE bottles of conditioner that I bought at a salon during a BOGO sale. I think I spent $15-$20 for Paul Mitchell's The Conditioner and use it almost daily. The bottles were about 32 ounces each and have lasted several years. Not bad.

Now I have to find another sale!
