Shaken, Not Stirred, With a Twist of Pixie Dust! A Food and Wine Trip!NEW! Pgs.75,76

I'm impressed by your ability to not say anything about Charles desire to not spend his vacation in the room.:worship:

Funny that you got carded......I didn't know you were married to Hugh Heffner.

I couldn't say much since I was too busy laughing as soon as Charles said that!

Great Update! I totally cracked up when you were carded! That has happened to me several times before and it used to make me so mad, but as I get older, I appreciate it more! Can't wait to hear more! Loved your last TR also!pirate:

It used to burn me up every time I got carded (about ten years ago). Now I do a happy dance on the rare occasion that it happens. How our perceptions change.

Ahhh....the Boardwalk.......maybe I should have kept my reservations there....nah. Beautiful huh!

MATT! I miss my "friend" Matt. Glad to know he's still there. I'm also glad he lived up to his billing.:thumbsup2

Your pix of CBR are great. We've stayed at CBR in Barbados 3 different times. I actually like that location. Closer to Customs House and a nice walk to OPR......

I was so excited to see that Matt was our bartender. I had to lean over and tell Charles all about him from your trip reports. He makes a great drink and is very attentive and friendly!

I was very pleased with our location -- it was a great spot since we hadn't spent the money for a preferred room.

Carded at CBR????? I told you ...you really are a young'n! That's too funny. You know what else? I haven't seen that make pictures of Charles, but I am starting to notice a resemblance between him and my friend Chuck, who watched the kids while we were away. Chuck and his wife are also going to Disney with us in May.

I actually laughed at the bartender when she first asked me for my ID because I thought she was joking. Turned out she wasn't. That's too funny about the resemblance. There are more pictures of Charles so you can decide for sure later on.

I love your pictures of CBR, especially the sunset picture. The resort is beautiful. I can't really remember were Barbados is in relation to the food court/pool, ect. Its been a while since I stayed there.

It's the village right across from the Customs House, so we had to walk around about a quarter of the lake to get to the food court and main pool.

I think your Plan B worked out really well for the evening. Sounds like you had a lovely evening together. Oh....and the anniversay card.....very cute. I like that!

Plan B did work out well for us since we were fast asleep by about 10:30.

Here is the Harvey's seat belt bag and the make up bag (they are from my iPhone so I hope they look okay.) It is quite a stiff bag but I have only used it for a week now...it is a box style bag so it won't be going over my shoulder. It is very sturdy and it has cute charms on it too...oh let me go take a picture of them :rotfl: I will post the D&B when I get home ( I am being very productive at work :laughing:)

photo-2.jpg

CUTE! I love the little bag!

I think those bags are so cute! I saw a picture of the D&B wristlet and tote somewhere on the DIS threads, but I can't remember where.
Does anyone know prices for the D&Bs?? I don't want to "want" it and then realize it's too expensive. Also, how big is the D&B tote? I had an idea of what I would like to use it for, but not sure it would work anyway.
TIA!
Jackie - love the pics! We stayed at CBR in Jan and I loved it! I honestly can't remember what country we were in, want to say Barbados.

Aren't they great? I want a D&B tote now!

photo-4.jpg

photo-3.jpg

Here is the D&B bag....I think it was $175 but there was a smaller one but I think it was still $150. The seat belt bag was I think $138 and the make up $60. :faint: Told you it was a lot! As eandesmom said she bought one on Zappos (seat belt) and it was much cheaper :sad2:
I think they are both cute and I am happy I bought them both....my niece thought the seat belt bag was ugly and that is all that I needed to hear...I swear when someone else dislikes something it psychologically makes me want it!!

Thanks Jackie! :)

Tracy

Love that D&B tote a LOT, but I don't know if I could ever bring myself to buy it, but it is so adorable, Tracy! Thanks for sharing!

CP & Charles?

hugh_hefner_2292042.jpg

I had to show this one to Charles! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Very cute bags! Jackie must be gone for the afternoon.....
I'm sure she would approve she likes this kind of stuff too!

You know I love bags and Disney bags even more so! :thumbsup2

Had to chuckle at Charles. Sorry you did not get to go to MNSSHP but it looks like you had a fun night. We had those same sandwichs back in May-they were spicy-but yummy!

I laughed, too, when Charles said that! At least he had changed his attitude for this trip!

They were so, so spicy, but we ate every bite of them.

It's cold in NYC today also. I wish I were anywhere warmer.

You should have brought a Flat Jordan with you to ESPN :lmao:

Was Chelsea upset that she didn't go?

We had our first frost last night. It looks like a winter wonderland this morning.

Flat J could have shared our drinks with us and posed with Matt! :lmao:

I think Chelsea missed us -- it's been awhile since we went anywhere without her.

While we definitely missed you at MNSSHP!! I'm glad you and Charles were able to have a fun and relaxing evening enjoying each other's company along with DTD and the Boardwalk!!! Paula and I took a stroll over to that area and I just loved the Boardwalk/Beach Club area!!! I'm definitely going to have to stay there some day!!

I would love to stay at the Boardwalk -- the lobby was just gorgeous!

OOOH..I'm a big buffalo wings fan...actually just had them for dinner!! So that sandwhich sounds yummy although I'm glad you were able to find something help cool you down!! Too funny that you were carded and Charles wasn't LOL!!!!

Can't wait to hear more about your trip!! I hope the school year is going well for you Jackie!!!

We love buffalo wings, too, but the sandwich was just too spicy! Even with a ton of lettuce on it, I couldn't get it toned down. I still ate it all though.

I kept teasing Charles about the carding incident the rest of the trip.

I am having a good year -- hope you are, too, Jen!

OMG!!! No he didn't???!!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Bless him!

Love the earrings!

Yes, he did! :lmao:

Thank you -- I wear those earrings a lot!

Oh, CBR looks beautiful!! :cloud9: Thank you for posting those pictures. It looks very relaxing.

I'm a little sad you didn't go to MNSSHP, only because I know how much you wanted too but it looks like you had a wonderful evening!

CBR is very relaxing, but you will love POFQ!

We have done MNSSHP before so I didn't mind missing it too much. When I told Chelsea we had almost gone, she said to me, "I would have been very angry with you if you had." Glad I didn't invoke the wrath of the 12-year-old! :lmao:

Looks like you had a great night.
I'm glad you got to explore the boardwalk. It's really fun; especially with out kids.;):rotfl:

We did have a good time!

We always stay on the boardwalk and love walking around there.
Next month I'll be seeing BC, YC, and BW decorated for christmas.:cloud9:
Hope everybody is feeling better!:hug::grouphug:

I would love to stay at the Boardwalk someday -- I loved the lobby!

Everyone is feeling better although I think I am coming down with a cold (I am ignoring it though).

Wow! Getting carded!! That is so refreshing isn't it? I love it when it happens! Sounds like a nice way to start off your vaca!!

I love when it happens nowadays, too, and it doesn't happen near enough as far as I am concerned.

The relaxing pics of you all at CBR are so cute. That place is just so pretty... can't wait for more. I would love to do DTD without kids... how fun!

Thank you! Browsing through DTD without kids pulling me in separate directions was so refreshing!

Boardwalk is another one of those places that I'd really enjoy getting to. Maybe this trip...especially since we'll have a car.

It was a neat place to visit! Lots going on and very pretty right there on Crescent Lake.

We're staying at CBR in June - I love your pictures. Hopefully, everyone in our group will be pleased with that choice. I know I'm excited - all of the pictures I keep seeing on these TRs keep convincing me SIL and I picked well.

Can't wait to hear about Epcot!

I have more pictures later on of CBR -- we will probably stay there again in June as well.

What a nice evening!! I LOVE your new Mickey earrings!!

Thank you! I love them, too. I find lots of reasons to wear them quite often. ;)

the pina coladas by the pool sound so nice right now! it's been so cold and drizzly here....it's depressing!

I hear ya, Dawn! At least, the sun finally came out even if we did have a freeze last night.

i knew i recognized that name from ESPN zone! i had heard about matt through jordan's TR. erica and i actually saw him last year but just from afar - we didn't go to the bar, just walked through. anyway, grey goose is my FAVORITE vodka and it goes so well with cranberry juice....nice choice! :thumbsup2

It was neat seeing Matt in person after reading about him on Jordan's TR, and he makes a great Grey Goose and cranberry!

Ah Jackie,

The irony of Charles not wanting to go on vaca to stay in the room to watch tv...

It's like a textbook example of irony, isn't it?

CBR looks lovely...I haven't seen as much of it as the CSR or Port Orleans...but it looks lovely...:goodvibes...hope we get to see some more...

(you could do a whole Pirate themed get away-staying at the CSR...doing the Pirates Cruise...etc., etc...)

CBR was lovely -- we will probably stay there again in June, so I am liking your pirate-themed idea!

Poor Chelsea...was she having Vacation envy, missing you guys or was Connor driving her nuts...Or all three ....

Probably all three with a little bit of boredom thrown in! I told her I was going to do the same thing to her when she was a teenager and went somewhere.

You go girl...getting carded...:thumbsup2[/QOTE]

I didn't even think she was being serious at first. :lmao:

Those bags are really cute...I love the D&B...hmmm....wonder if that would make a nice 16 bd gift...

I love that D&B bag as well -- I was even looking at it on ebay last night.

I was thinking it would make a nice Christmas gift for a 41 yr. old. (ahem - that would be me).

:lmao:

Well this 41 yr. old girl thinks they would make a great Christmas gift for you...:goodvibes...(I wouldn't mind one myself...)

Sigh...I guess I have 16th B-days on the mind today...

Have you been planning more 16th birthday surprises??? Can't wait to hear about them if you have!

All caught up! It looks like CBR is agreat resort! It's on my list now for sure. I hope you got Matt's autograph? Oh, and I loved the Toy Story Mania you created on your table!

CBR was nice! I liked its central location and island feel!

Oh, I should have gotten Matt's autograph or at least a photo! :rotfl:

Ahhh what a great start to your trip. Those pina coladas look delishhh! That's funny that they carded you and not Charles

The BW area is so peaceful and watching Illuminations from there sounds wonderful :cloud9:

It was a great start -- and those pina coladas were as tasty as they looked. ;)

Charles the cradle-robber. :lmao: I got carded on my trip too and I tell you what, it made my night. In fact I must have been smiling so wide that another guy in line commented on it. To think I'm even on the bubble of 21 is a compliment. But I suppose in that heat with everyone's hair in pony-tails it is hard to tell.

:lmao: It made my night, too, and apparently was a highlight of my vacation since I had to mention it. :rotfl:

LOVE your sunset pics. CBR looks lovely! :thumbsup2

Thank you! It was nice to just sit there and watch the sun go down with no place to rush off to.

Your favorite way to start an Epcot day. Hmmm... does it involve champagne? ;) Or Soarin' over California?

You are too smart for your own good. :goodvibes

Has Chelsea recovered from your going without her? :rolleyes1

I think so -- once we promised some things for the next vacation.

This was a GREAT update!!! HEY!!!! My DH had that exact same sandwich the night we ate at the food court!!! YUP he said the same thing -- SPICY! It looked very good! Your evening sounds great... And yes it is a nice area there by the pool, I thought it was perfect! Your photos are better than mine :rotfl:

Boardwalk area seems so pleasant. I want to stroll around there on my Dec trip...

Did I miss that you have your plans for next summer yet??? :rolleyes1

Hi, Happydog! How was camping? That sandwich was so spicy! We won't be having that again.

No, no real plans yet for next summer -- just lots of possibilities swirling in my head.

Joining in a little late! (sorry!)

I love it that you got carded!

It's great to see so many pics of you. I guess that's one benefit of a kid-free trip, huh?

Your first night sounds relaxing and wonderful!

Guess what?!?

We just purchased our plane tickets to spend Christmas in Charleston with DH's grandparents!

Hi, Julie! I am so glad you are here now! We have more pictures of just the two of us from this trip than all the other trips combined.

You are going to love Charleston!!! Where are you staying?

Your pictures are lovely. What a wonderfully relaxing night. And of course I love your earrings.

Can't wait to read about your Epcot day.

Thank you! I love those earrings, too! :goodvibes

Hey sweetie......got myself all caught up....finished off June's trip, and enjoying so much the details of your little rendezvous with Charles!!!! I am hoping that he makes MANY more appearances this time than the last!!! ;) I hope you enjoyed it dearie!!!!

Hi, Jen! Charles does make lots more appearances, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely!

LOL! I can't believe that you got carded - how much fun is that?! :cool1: Those drinks looked very yummy!

Can't wait to read about your day at EPCOT!

Sounds like your first day was a great start to your trip. I'm loving the pics of CBR. I'm definitely thinking of making it my resort for the next trip.

Jackie you and Charles are so much better at slowing down and taking it easy than we are. That Thursday evening when you were relaxing by the pool we were already eating around WS. We actually drove half way on Wed night and were at WS when it opened at 11:00:cool1:
I looked for you guys that weekend although I don't think we were in the same park on the same day, I realized that while I'd recognize you I didn't know what Charles looked like:lmao:

You got frost this morning  It was 36 here but the frost didn't quite reach us. We did an outdoor Art and Wine event yesterday, just about froze, kept having to stand in the sun.

Can't wait for the next installment, bring on the food porn !!!

I was loving it! :lmao:

It was super lovely, and I like being able to say that I have stayed at all four moderates now.

I knew I didn't want to rush too much since we had just been there in June, and it really was a trip to enjoy the Food and Wine Festival.

I looked for you guys that weekend although I don't think we were in the same park on the same day, I realized that while I'd recognize you I didn't know what Charles looked like:lmao:

I kept an eye out for you, also! I don't think we were at the same parks though :(.

You got frost this morning  It was 36 here but the frost didn't quite reach us. We did an outdoor Art and Wine event yesterday, just about froze, kept having to stand in the sun.

It was 30 here (we are a little bit farther up 75), and it almost looked like it had snowed. Quite lovely, but I think it has killed off my late-blooming plants.

Can't wait for the next installment, bring on the food porn !!!

Coming soon! :thumbsup2

Oh YES, I forgot to mention that I :lovestruc those cutie cutie earrings!!! ADORABLE! I will keep my eye out for those in December!!! :thumbsup2

Me too! ;)

Joining in....I've been reading along, but not posting much!

Hi, Janelle! So glad you posted!!! :goodvibes

Oh YES, I forgot to mention that I :lovestruc those cutie cutie earrings!!! ADORABLE! I will keep my eye out for those in December!!! :thumbsup2

Thank you! I love them and felt like they were such a bargain at $10.95 -- they were in the jewelry section of World of Disney.

Bright and early Friday morning (around 6:30), Stitch called our room to wake us up for our first full day at the Food and Wine Festival. Charles kept sleeping, but I got out of bed to get myself and the park bag ready. Then, I rousted Charles out of bed -- I was anxious and ready to get going.

We debated whether or not we wanted to head to the food court for breakfast, but in the end, I decided there was no way I could last until 11:00 before I ate any real food. We drove over to Old Port Royale -- we could have walked, but I knew we needed to conserve every bit of energy for our long day of strolling around Epcot.

At the food court we checked out all the breakfast choices. I went with a Mickey waffle with bacon, and Charles got the steak and egg quesadillas. We both enjoyed our choices although Charles wished the steak had some seasoning on it.

Ah, the pure bliss of a Mickey waffle!

023.jpg

I do have to confess that during breakfast I was a little antsy because I knew we were missing rope drop. I kept having to tell myself to relax and breathe deeply because this trip was not about rushing from one thing to the next.

After eating, we dropped off the car and went to the bus stop. I was more than ready to head to Epcot!

024.jpg

We probably waited about fifteen minutes, saw lots of buses for the other parks, and ended up having to stand on the bus -- luckily Epcot is right around the corner from the Caribbean Beach Resort.

Once through the turnstiles of Epcot and after collecting our Festival guide and posing for some Photopass pictures in front of Spaceship Earth (which so did not turn out well), we made a beeline for Soarin’ and collected Fast Passes for about an hour later.

We were finally here!!!

025.jpg

Then we followed the little people pointing out the way to the Festival Center.

028.jpg

I browsed among the souvenirs making mental notes of what I wanted to come back and purchase. I could have easily bought one of everything, but our purpose that morning was to get the little gift card wristbands. I had wanted one ever since I saw them last year on various trip reports.

Charles surprised me by declaring that he really wanted one of his own, so we loaded up two gift cards. Before we left, Charles bought a glass of champagne from the Wonders Bar.

“Champagne at 10:00 in the morning??? Ewww!” I hushed after Charles pointed out that it was like a mimosa without the orange juice. I tried a sip, but it was much too dry for me. I am so not a champagne connoisseur.

029.jpg

Then it was a quick swing by Test Track for Fast Passes, our ride on Soarin’ (yes, I do love a morning ride through the orange groves), and a leisurely walk to the World Showcase Promenade to start eating and drinking.

It was time!

UP NEXT: Hello, My New Love!

You are so cute with your matching wrist bands! :cutie:

I'm with Charles, it's never too early for champagne.

I have to say that Charles looks happier in that picture with his champagne then in any of your summer ones. I guess he's just a Food & Wine type of guy.

Champagne at 10:00 in the morning !!!!! Charles is SO my kind of guy !:thumbsup2 What a tease you are, I'm dying for that F&W food porn now !!!!!

WTG Charles on the early morning bubbly!

Did you switch husbands from the last trip?

I like those wristband cards, I can really see how they would be handy at F&W!

YUM, that Mickey waffle looks so good! What is it that everything with a Mickey face tastes better? :goodvibes

I have to say, I'm with Charles on the champagne. YUMO! What a great way to start a day at Epcot! :thumbsup2

Looks like a start of a great day!

Those wristband gc's are adorable.

Your Mickey waffle looks delicious!

The gift cards are such a great idea.

I don't know if I could drink straight champagne at 10 a.m. in the real world, but at Disney World, anything is possible!
