Me and my family are staying at SOG for the first time this April. I need some help understanding their transportation system to the parks. I think this is what I think I know and don't know....

SOG has their own buses but if you want to go to MK, or Epcot you have to take a bus to the TTC then transfer to another bus or use the monorail, right?

You can walk to the Poly and use the monorail to get to MK or Epcot. The walk to the Poly is about 15 minutes or you can try and find the "Shady Shuttle".

There is a designated bus that goes to AK & MGM. How often do they run and where is the pickup?

How do you get to DTD, BB, or TL? Does SOG have designated buses for those parks? How often do they run?

How often do the buses run from SOG to the TTC?

Any tricks or hints to make the most of the transportation system at SOG?

THANKS!

i think i can help with a few of your questions. We have a rent a car there so we drive everywhere but MK the busses are out front the the hotel but you have to go downstairs easy to get to. The Mk busses ran every 15 minutes on the hr 15 after 30 after 45 after so you can plan ahead. they take you to TTC if only takes 5-6 minutes to get there from SOG. If you want to go to Epcot you can get the Monorail from there. They do have a bus to DTD that runs every hr. We did take that one night because we were going to be drinking at DTD Didn't want to drink and drive. The walk to the Poly is nice and about 15 minutes but that walk home is long after a long day at the park. You can always walk to the poly and then take the bus back to the SOG. They have other busses but not sure how offen they run because we drive to the other parks. But i know its not every 15 minutes like the bus to MK/TTC. It might be an half hr but not sure. HAve fun the SOG is a great place.

For MGM-
Bus departs SOG at 0830 with continuous service every hour on the half hour.
This bus also stops at BB.

For Animal Kingdom-
Bus departs SOG at 0830 with continuous service every hour on the half hour.
This bus also stops at TL

Return MGM-
Bus departs from Space C6, every hour starting at 0850. Final run is 1 hour after park closes.
Bus stops at BB Space #1, departs everyhour starting at 1100. Final run is 1 hour after park closes.

Return Animal Kingdom-
Bus departs from Space #7, (located in the parking lot to you left) every hour starting at 0850. Final run is 1 hour after park closes.
Bus stops at TL space #9 , every hour starting at 1100. Final run is 1 hour after park closes.

We really liked the scheduled buses. :thumbsup2 We always got there within 5 min. of the bus. No long waits in the hot sun.

be careful walking from the poly to SOG at night, b/c the alligators like to come up and lay across the sidewalks, and you won't see them to you are right at them.

Are you SERIOUS???? :scared1:

Yes I am very serious!!! :sad1: This happened to us the last time, fortunatly we were on the bus, and the alligator was in the road... but there was people talking about the next morning and the staff verrified they come out at night and lay across the sidewalks b/c they are so cool at night.

We walked the path at night last April and didn't even think about that. It is such a nice walk at night. We are thinking about going back to Shades in April '08 so I will make sure we keep an eye out for them.

The transportation at SOG worked out well for us. The buses left on time, so if you get down to the bus stop early enough you shouldn't miss them. And the bus to TTC comes every 15 minutes and you are able to catch transportation to all the parks from TTC.

We did find it easier to take the monorail or bus to the Poly when coming back to the parks, then walking back SOG (we never saw the alligators).

A friend of mine just returned from SOG and got rides over to the Poly by the men/women in the golf carts thta work there. He said he would give them a tip and they took him right over to the Poly, no problem. They even picked him up a couple of times.

Just a thought.

We drove down the driveway one morning and there was a big ole gator just a lyin' on the grass. We stopped our car to take a picture of him when a group of girls pulled up behind us and got out of the car, ran towards the gator with cameras in hand!!! I couldn't believe they were running up to him. The gator fortunately was a bit shy and skooted into the water!

Yes that is called The Shady Shuttle.

The busses are fine as long as you pay attention to the schedule and get to the bus stop in time. The only one I had a problem with was the MGM and AK one. If you miss it, the next one is an hour later! One thing I wasn't prepared for was the condition of the busses.....they were very run down!
