SHADES OF GREEN at Walt Disney World Resort Thread

I have a question about the tickets. Our 45 day mark is coming up in a couple of weeks so we can order tickets.

If we order the tickets and then our trip is canceled (there is a chance it could be) will we get a refund?

Thank you for the info! We're going to get the Stars and Stripes tickets, so purchasing them on Post is not an option. One of my husband's co workers told him that they experienced a ridiculously long line to get tickets, but I'm guessing now that was before you were able to order them ahead of time. I'm glad it's just a matter of picking them up at check-in.

I know with some tickets you have to exchange them once you get to the park. Is the same true with the Stars and Stripes tickets?

The 4 day Military Salute tickets must be activated, and exchanged. I do not believe the Stars and Stripes tickets need to be activated, but please verify this with SOG. As far as the long ticket lines, it is all about timing. We have waited in ginormous lines, and there have been times when we have just walked up to the counter. Unfortunately it can be a very slow process; people are understandably confused with all the ticket options, and they have many questions. I do hope that pre ordering tickets will minimize waits at the ticket counter, but then again they also sell tickets for non-Disney parks as well, so we'll see.

I think all tickets are non- refundable.

Will be down at SOG in about 3 weeks and can't wait to attend MNSSHP! I'm wondering about transportation back from the party to SOG! Anybody on here taken the bus back during/after the party? Just curious as to if it is usually very crowded and also how often it picks up at the park? I know we can go to Poly and walk back but now that my mom is joining us, that may not be an option.

As somebody who just did this SUNDAY NIGHT (9/28) I can confirm that you should be fine. We attended MNSSHP Sunday night. The party ended at midnight, buses were scheduled to run until I believe 1:40am according to the schedule. Our party of 7 people attended the party. They left around 10:45pm due to pouring rain, took the monorail over to the TTC, then it was an easy walk around the building and across the street to the bus stop. My MIL even had an ECV (scooter) and that worked out fine...though there were many unhappy people waiting in the rain as she loaded into the bus first! ;)

My DD and I stayed until almost the end of the party. We took the Resort monorail back to the TTC. Monorail was crowded, bus was not too crowded at all. Again, rain may have had something to do with this. We found it to be a nice ride back to the Shades of Green Resort, especially since most of the rest of our vacation we were doing the walk to the Poly and catching the monorail there and back. It was nice to not do that walk after a long day at the parks on Sunday.

Oh and the bus runs about every 20 minutes, so you should be fine!

Enjoy! :thumbsup2

Thank you so much! It is such a relief to hear everything went smoothly and shades provided transportation past the end of the party! i'm so excited and can't wait for my first (and probably only) MNSSHP and F&W!

Actually I was always able to purchase Stars and Strips tickets at our base. You "order them" through your local ITT and they have them shipped. The only caveat(s); you have to pay for them when you order them, and you have to allow 14 days to get them, and then pick them up at the local office. I've done this several times even when there was or wasn't the military salute ticket option.

Either way the important thing is to get some kind of number that you can link to your account in order to get your fastpass plus reservations. Good Luck.

This will be my first disney trip. What area should I request if we want to be close to the lobby?
Also for a split stay, how would we transfer our bags to the poly? Just a taxi or the shuttle?

Actually, I think you may be mistaking the SOG Stars and Stripes ticket for the military discount MYW ticket. The Stars and Stripes ticket is a Length of Stay Pass that can only be bought at SOG

MYW discounted tickets can be bought from MWR, SOG or at the Disney gates (taxed at the gates)

The best way we have found coming back to SOG during any of our visits was taking the resort monorail back to the Polynesian and then walking across the street to SOG...typically much better than the bus! Even during the holidays!

Are the lines real long to purchase park tickets? We haven't decided whether or not to purchase them ahead of time. If we do and then our trip is canceled (which it's about 50/50 right now) we may not get another chance to go before September/2015.

Lines come and go throughout the day; one minute it's a walk up, and other times a long line snakes down the hallway. SOG needs their own FP+ just for the ticket counter.:rotfl2:

Our close friend is an officer in the Air National Guard. They want to do a SOG and have us stay in a Palms suite with them. We are a family of four, not in the military. Would this be possible?

If they can get a reservation for a suite, then you can stay with them. The suites are very difficult to obtain. Often times they are reserved until the last minute. I would suggest your friend try to get 2 rooms instead, which is just about the same price as a suite.

My daughter and I are considering flying instead of driving. If we do that we'll have to take a late flight after she gets off work which will put us arriving at Orlando about 11:30 pm. I know that the Disney Magical Express or whatever it's called does not go to SOG from the airport. We're thinking of staying at a hotel airport for the rest of the night and then arriving at SOG as planned or seeing if we can book an extra night at SOG and heading straight there from the airport.

What do you think? I'm leery at catching a cab that late at night. Watched too many CSI's and Criminal Minds.

I would book the extra night at Shades, suck it up and travel that night, otherwise you will just have to deal with it in the morning (plus at that hour traffic won't be too bad). We always hire a town car from the airport to Shades. Just google search and you should find one. The DisBoards probably also has one as a sponsor. If you stay near the airport you will still have to deal with cab/transport in the morning and a cab usually costs just as much as a town car. If you coordinate ahead of time the town car can stop at a grocery/liquor store for 30 minutes for free and you can stock up on some things.

When you buy park tickets at SOG are they paper tickets or do they offer you the Magic Bands?

At this time Magic Bands are not offered at SOG, but you can purchase them at various Disney locations including DTD. I believe Guest Services can link your tickets to the magic bands, but it should be noted that magic bands are not required; you can use actual tickets to enter the parks. If you are buying the military salute discount tickets, you will get plastic tickets at SOG that will need to be activated, and exchanged for actual Disney tickets at the parks or Guest Services at DTD.

Thank you! I wasn't sure how all that worked.

thanks! Sorry for my delayed response

We just decided to take a vacation to Disney in 2 1/2 weeks. Thankfully, SOG has availability, but I question how to load FP+ and other conveniences on. Is there a way to preload up Fast Passes (of Fast Pass +, not sure of the differences) before we arrive at the gates? We will be driving down from Buffalo, NY with three children under the age of 3. Looking to preplan as much as possible. I expect to be purchasing our MB's and then loading the Fast Passes up on them along with our Armed Forces Salute tickets.
