Hello everyone...
I was wondering if anyone knew how late the Px is open is the lobby? We are arriving in the evening and wanted to pick up some things. We usually arrive in the morning but I had to do afternoon flights this time since planning to leave right after last possible final exam for my college kiddos.
Thank you!

It'open till 9pm. 7am to 9pm every day.

My son is an active duty Marine and is interested in staying at SOG when he is back in Dec.

We have stayed at WDW hotels many times but this is the first year he is able to stay at SOG and the rate is amazing. There are so many different rules at SOG I just need some advice for him.

How to Magic Bands work at SOG. Is SOG guests eligible for Magic Bands and are they able to pick FP+ rides ahead of time.

I see SOB guests are not eligible for Magical Express, my DS is 19 and so he can not rent a car. Would you suggest a taxi, shuttle or town car to get back and forth from the airport? We have used a towncar service before and it was great, I am just looking for the least expensive option for him.

I read the bus schedule, does it make the most sense to take a bus to the TTC and catch a bus to HS/AK and BB from there as the buses run every 20min?

Any other tips or advice for a first timer at SOG?

Thanks :thumbsup2

We were at Shades of Green the first part of August. You can order the tickets from Shades of Green 45 days in advance of your trip. They will email you the numbers on the back and you create a My Disney Experience account and enter your ticket numbers. 30 days out you can schedule fastpasses. We then bought the magic bands the night we arrived at the Pin Traders in Downtown Disney. The store then connected our magic bands and our tickets. The magic bands were $12.95 each I believe. We had no problem with our fastpasses or our tickets using the magic bands.
We usually timed our departure to catch the shades of greens bus, but if we were going to Magic Kingdom we walked to the Poly and caught either the boat or the monarail, it is also just a little farther from the Poly to the transportation center if you miss the bus at the Shades of Green.
We loved Manginos for dinner. They were open late and the food was delicious! They also to carry outs if you want a dessert in your room. We ate there twice on our last trip and once went for a dessert carry out to share.

We're at SOG right now...today was our first day at the parks. We took the SOG bus direct to AK. it only runs once an hour, but we caught the first bus out and the last bus returning. If you are going to AK or HS, just use the SOG bus...going to the TTC first is just wasting time. For MK the walk from SOG to the Poly monorail station is like 5 - 10 minutes. SOG even has a golf cart to take you to the road (edge of SOG property), which will save a couple minutes.

As for transportation to SOG from the airport....SOG contracts with a transportation company, there's a link on the SOG website. We used them. $65 one way from the airport. they also have round trip pkgs, but we're using the DCL express to get to our cruise and then to the airport.:cool1:

heidijanesmith; I can help with some of your questions if you want to PM me.
I would encourage you to make reservations if you think you are going to go in December. The beauty of Shades is that you can always cancel 30 days prior if you find out you are not going to go, and not lose any deposit. But if you are trying to go during a busy time, they may sell out, so it's best to go ahead and make a reservation. Hope that makes sense.

We will be staying at SOG for the first time in November. We're going with three kiddos 4 and under, myself and my DH and my in-laws. My FIL is pretty limited on mobility. Doesn't have to use a walker or wheelchair, but stamina is pretty low after two bouts of Leukemia in the last 4 years and diabetic complications in his feet.

How flexible is SOG on requesting rooms in certain locations? Are there any areas that you would recommend that we stay for accessibility issues. I have to balance it with not wanting to be in more noisy areas because of afternoon naps and earlier bedtimes.

He will be renting either an ECV or wheelchair for the park, so that'll be ok, but I am also concerned about transportation to the park. If it were just us, we'd walk to the Polynesian resort, but there is no way he'll be able to make the trek. I've read they have a golf cart that will drop you at the street, but how long is the walk from there?

Thanks in advance!:goodvibes
We went last September our group ranged in age 2 to 87 and we rented the ecv from the company that was recommended by the shades of green. The ECV was at the bell hop station at the front of the resort. We took the Ecv to the room and she rode the EVC everywhere even when we walked to the Polynesian and we never had battery issues. They were very reasonable and very convenient. We dropped it off at the bell hop station to turn it in. The ecv was always the first load on either the SOG or Disney bus or the monarail and we always had lots of help. I would highly recommend getting the ecv at SOG, at the parks it is first come first serve.

What ECV rental company did you use? Approx price, we would need for our 4 night stay. Thanks in advance.

I can't find my note book but I believe it was Best Price Mobility. They delivered and picked up the scooter at Shades of Green. We paid $120 for 4 days of rental. The charger comes with and I even called Disney to make sure that we could find a place to charge it in the park, but we never needed to charge it during the day and we covered a lot of ground. We plugged it in every night and it was fully charged and ready to go in the morning. I don't even think we ever got below 1/2 power. The charge on the scooter was amazing. The pick up so convenient. We arranged for the pick up to be at 7:15 the first morning we were going to the park and the return on the morning that we were leaving. The day is 24 hours so from 7:15 to 7:15, we had a great experience with them. We ordered over the phone. We did not have to be there for drop off or pick up - the scooter was at the Bell station. If I find my notes I will post their phone number, but I got the information from Shades of Green when I called and asked who they recommended.

I am not sure I am doing this correct... we arrive at SOG at the end of the month... I have my ticket numbers and logged them into MYDisneyExperience.... but I am having to go on each day to get the fastpasses.... I thought once I hit the thirty days out I could book for as many days as my ticket was... what did I do wrong?...update...went on at midnight each night...got all fact passes we wanted

I was very pleased with the SOG. Additionally crowds were low in the four parks.
Granted I didn't go into any of the Frozen offerings, but most stand by lines were barely more than our fast pass on other attractions.
It was wonderful to experience the magic again at the parks.
My last trip was in 2006, so I was past due for a get away.
