~~~SEWING my way to POFQ ~ American Girl outfits & Custom Park Bags! ~~~
Hey all.. Checkin in from DHS beautiful day, just had a mini shower while we were having dinner. The girls r riding rnr, and i stayed back, don't wanna lose our lunch.
We had a fp issue when we tried to use our tot fp... The fp was too long, ad we would have missed our adr, i went to guest service and they gave is 3 replacement fp, expiring at close, not good on tsm. So, it's a pita, but it seems like Disney is somewhat accomodating???
I think we r headed to st next and just wandering a bit. We r thinking of leaving and coming backfor the late F! Showing.
Chiara.... Totally love the nerds set!
D~
Sounds like Disney is trying at least to lessen the impact of finally enforcing the rules that were already in place :rotfl:
Glad you're having fun! I vote for taking a break and enjoying that awesome pool you have!
Finn is pint-sized, well, not sure why, actually :) He was 6lbs 2oz at birth and he's always stayed on "his" curve on the "charts" at the pediatrician's office . . . it's just a little below the chart to the 5% . . .
I'm only 5'4" and Dave is 5'7" so we're not that tall . . .my dad is 5'11" and my mom is 5'2" . . . My dad was always the shrimpy kid in school until late into high school when he finally had a growth spurt. . . so, we'll see. . . part of me thinks it's just the grand plan of things for Finn to stay "little" until we're ready to have another baby . . . but that's probably just my heart justifying things :)
Went to JoAnn's with the bestie after lunch . . .picked up three hearts tie-dye snuggle flannels (purple, blue & green) for $1.99 a yard each. Picked up some basting spray. . . didn't feel like buying prepackaged cut away stabilizer when I knew I could get it cheaper at Walmart, so I left it there - depending on how brave I feel after my homeschool mno tonight I might hit walmart . . .
Andrea,wow what beautiful hair...no wonder you had a tough time with cutting it!
Megan was 8 lb 12 oz and 21 1/2 inches so off the charts today she's about
5'3" and around 130...she got my mom's family bone structure so not a petite little thing....I'm about 5'6" and Jim was 5'8" but my mom's family has big people...tallest is 6' 8" big "farm stock" as my mom always says :lmao:
so figure she's going to be growing for a couple more years...just hope she doesn't get to 6' hard enough to find her clothes now!
Marianne, another baby ??? :love: that would be fun for all of us! love the new baby smell :love:
and since this is technically D~ thread...happy your having fun in DHS, never done RnR either, not sure I could...enjoy seeing F! hope the rain stays away!
DH knows I want another baby . . . financially it's out of the question right now . . . but when he gets a head pro job, I think I'll be able to talk him into it :) A LOT will change for us when he moves into a head pro job . . .
Y'all - I think I'm crazy, but this new machine sort of scares me! Andrea, don't you want to come visit for a weekend? Hmm . . .maybe I could come to YOU. . .
I know, I know, I need to stop being a big baby about it . . .but it's 4pm and I have to be ready to leave the house when DH walks in the door at 6:45, so probably NOT the best time to haul the thing out and test drive it, right???
hope he gets the new job soon! just think you could get a little girl, lots of pink and bows for you to create with! even though your little guys are adorable, girl stuff is so much cuter!!!
I'd be scared too!
I thought you were taller than me. I'm 5'5" and I swore you were 5'6"! And while I've not seen too many dh pics, since I thought you were taller than me I figured your dh was around 6 feet tall. No wonder Finn doesn't resemble a basketball player. I really honestly though you and Dave were much taller and couldn't figure where Finn got his stature from. That explains a lot now.
DH knows I want another baby . . . financially it's out of the question right now . . . but when he gets a head pro job, I think I'll be able to talk him into it :) A LOT will change for us when he moves into a head pro job . . .
I so wish were neighbors! I can't even do a mini tut for you right now because dh has the camera (in CA). I will write up a mini walk thru for you in a minute and post it here since we need to fill up D's ptr.
I would love another baby too -- I'm too old :( We were going to try to adopt from Russia (siblings) but curse our RI house b/c without selling it we didn't have a spare $60K sitting around.
FOR MARIANNE Nope, not for D~ -- just for Marianne.
My machine might be a bit different than what you have so you might have to improvise a little and consult your manual. I have a flash drive. I take the design I want and transfer it to my flash drive and then plug the flash into my machine.
Turn the machine on, press the button for uploading the design and get it to display.
Let's say we are doing a t-shirt. I hoop Floriani med wt cut away. I mark the center with the guide and spray with Dritz spray so the stabilizer is sticky. I press my t and turn it inside out and mark my t with the template. I then uninside out the t and slip the hoop inside and line up the marks, hand press the t into place and then pin it with ballpoint pins around the edge. Then I unearth the back of the t so none is caught under the hoop. Hook the hoop to the machine. Slide a piece of tearaway stabilizer under that (I buy it from Marathon thread). First stitch is a placement stitch. I do this in any odd color I don't often use. Let's do a simple Mickey head. I have an ugly mint green thread that outlines the mickey head on the t. Then I cut enough fabric to cover the area and a bit extra and place it over the spot. You can spray it on, but rather than gum up things too much I hold it in place and smooth it out while doing the tackdown stitch. I use the same ugly minty green for that. Then i take it off the machine and cut the excess fabric as close to the tackdown stitch as I can. I use an Gingher embroidery scissor to do this. Then I change to my black thread and hook the hoop back in and it stitches away.
For smaller shirts you have to keep plling the t fabric out of the way. You can use clippies to pull some away, but they aren't perfect -- still watch it.
Once done pull off the tear away. Unpin the t and then cut off the cut away. Toss in wash and voila, shirt is done!
I have to run now but I will check back later tonight -- ask me any questions you need to. You can e-mail me or better yet post them right here on D's thread. She thinks she is posting to update while she is gone, but we have more importaant matters to discuss .
I love that wreath! I love the Rapunzel page too! And Toontown! Ok, I love them all!
I was just on Fox News website and ran across a photo of Mayim Bialik -- do you remember that show Blossom? Megan resembles her quite a bit! I had to Google other pics of her, but I think they look quite similar!
Anyway, your pages are beyond awesome. Do you spends thousands of dollars on your scrapbooking?
:wave2: I'm trying to wean myself from dis. I spend WAY too much time here, but the middle of your long awaited TR would be the wrong time.
:stitch2: Sounds like you're having a grand time. A few good meals, a few good friends, a few good rides, what more could you ask for?
:blush: Have you gotten any comments on your wardrobe? Sold anything right off your back?
Thanks...can't take credit for everything though...most of the pieces were made by other scrappers during different swaps we do through out the year! they are so much fun and get new ideas from what the other ladies make!
I do, watched that show all the time! she does look a bit like her now that you brought it up!
have no idea what I spend...probably no more that you all do on fabric :rolleyes1:rolleyes1 but I am really trying hard to use my stash lately and ONLY buying what I need for a specific project! try to use coupons for the bigger stuff like cricut cartridges. I also treat my scrapping like its my therapy so its a lot cheaper than going to the therapist :rotfl:
Lisa ~ I just spent the evening reading your TRs. They explain you amazing heart, wisdom and love that you display on the boards. You are obviously an amazing mother and I love to see the photos of the two of you. . .they are so beautiful! It always surprises me to see how far back the DIS friendships go. Funny, they are far more genuine than most in our "real lives". I did not know where to post this, so sorry D for hi-jacking, but I did not think you'd mind, since you already know how amazing Lisa is!
I look forward to diving in to another tomorrow night:cool1:
Posting this on D~s oh I mean Andrea's report. The front and back will be on my PTR in a little bit.
The finished Nerd outfit.
085ad9c8.jpg
Oh! My! Goodness!!!!!! That is just plain adorable! Are the Nerds from Heather Sue? Dang it! My daughter is in college with a biology major and spends a lot of time in various labs so that Stitch in the lab coat is calling my name. Loudly! Now I *know* I need an embroidery machine. I had just convinced myself I could do without!
*sigh!*
Christy... You can tell anyone as much as you want, how awesome Lisa and Megan are - because they really are. :lovestruc
Now, you're homework for today - if you haven't already - go read Lisa's TR... Amazing heart, amazing story, just all around amazing. :lovestruc
Also, Lisa, I love your SB pages - they are sooo cool!
OK, quick update then we have to run!!!
Had a decent day at DHS yesterday... The girls drug me on RnR... I drug them on Star Tours... V drug us on TSM... And they both tried to drag me on to ToT... What do you think - did I do it???? Hmmm... Stay tuned. :surfweb:
We had a delicious lunch at 50's... Even met a Diser - Gotta go find him when we get home. I wrote hist named down, but then proceded to leave the napkin behind. I'll leave the rest of the lunch story for my TR - but the food was fantastic!
We left at about 4:30 - pouring rain... Once we got back to POFQ, we really didn't want to leave agian for F! - so we decided that we will try to do it on our night off, if we feel like it. We've seen it before - so we know what we are missing out on.
We are headed to AK today - we are all looking foward to this park - We don't understand how others don't really like it, because it is one of our Favs, and we have 2 days scheduled here for this trip.
I hope you all have a wonderful day... Keep posting all of your projects, even though I just don't have time to reply to all of them, I love seeing them and, yes Andrea, it makes me feel so popular.
Oh and Cheryl... No one has purchased anything off of my back, but I have had tons of comments, and quite a few people stalk me for my information... One lady was going on to her Iphone as I was talking and taking notes for later. LOL
D~
D... sounds like you are having a wonderful time.:goodvibes
Lisa...I love your scrap booking pages!
Marianne & Chiara... can never get enough of seeing those adorable outfits.:goodvibes
Andrea... I keep threatening to cut DDs hair because it gets so snarly.:mad: I've never got over to JCPenney to buy the product you recommended but I have been using the WEN products which does help but I think she just needs a good cutting. But everytime I mention it she gets all upset.:sad2:
<------ Cheryl look at my number of posts. I think I am on the dis too much too.
OKAY!!! You ladies have been busy and I am trying to catch up! :scared1: PLEASE bear with me! :flower3:
Here's an outfit I just made for Alexa:
Oliviaaquaandred-1.jpg
Just doing my part to move things along!
GORGEOUS!!! My Lisa would LOVE it, especially those pants, and Rachel would take a pair of pants in every color. :lmao::lmao: The brighter the better, she LOVES it which cracks me up.... Did I miss a picture of Alexa wearing it??? With her NEW HAIRCUT (when the camera comes home, of course)!
How fortunate it was that fate intervened and Rufus found the very best family to love him, raise him, play with him, feed him, take him to the lake (and apparently everywhere else), teach him to love the sound of sewing machines, and to grow up a beloved member of his community. He was so lucky to be cared for right up to the very end, continuing to love and be loved.
Through photos, stories, and memories he will forever be a part of your family's history. Well done, Rufus. Well done, Geurts Family.
Beautifully said! :thumbsup2
I got my hanging TORSOs in today:cool1: I'll have to post a picture of it later My kids are scared of the though. They want to make sure I keep them downstairs.
That paints a visual! :scared1:
Judy.... love all the pictures and Chiara I forgot to post earlier but love all the outfits you are making. All those appliques I can't imagine how long it is taking you.
Thanks Michelle! :goodvibes And I agree with you about Chiara's! :thumbsup2
I can see why she is your EX TAScary!
There are LOTS of borderline personalities out there, I really need to be more careful what I write... :scared:
As for the business part I doubt I will make any money to even have to worry about taxes I am doing it more to see if anything I make will sell. I think I am only going to do a few boy items since the girl outfits seemed to be covered.
I would/will buy when I can, you do awesome work! :goodvibes
As for the disboutique FB thread we are now secret and Teresa is doing a good job of making sure that only people we know are in it. We would all love for you to come in and say
Is Teresa okay, haven't seen her again for a while. Please tell her hello, I know the big trip is getting close! :goodvibes
NOt sure who's PTR this is, I used to post here a lot...
FIrst of all... I love seeing all the pictures that everyone has been posting! You all have been so busy! I wish I had the time to comment on each and every one of them.
I also have to say - Cheryl - the girls and I sat here reading what you wrote with tears in our eyes... It really moved us. Thank you.
I just wanted to let you all know that we had a good first day in Disney.
Our flight was a tad early. ME was nice - we weren't the first resort dropped off - but we didn't care, because we got to oogle other resorts. My girls already have a list prepared for our next resort.
Our room is amazing... Our location is amazing (bldg 6)... The resort is amazing... the view is amazing... the theme is amazing...
We LOVE the dining plan... so far, we've only eaten at the resort food court - but everyone that works there has been super nice to us, helping us learn the dining plan, because we've never used it before.
I had comments on Chiara's shirt - lots of them. V had comments on Marianne's shirt - lots of them...
Some of the resort empolyees loved the Up bag - and then asked my why Disney hadn't sued me yet. Yah - that was a bit uncomfortable, and I wasn't quite sure how to answer it???? I really wasn't prepared for that. So, now I'll probably get sued by Disney.
Otherwise - we had a wonderful first day in MK... Rode splash, Rode HM... Got the girls' and Rufus' silhouettes done...
I actually saw my Evil Queen bag too - so that was cool.
COOL!!!!
OK - the girls are bugging me to go to bed - we have an early ADR at CP tomorrow.
D~
Had to make sure I responded to the OWNER of the PTR!! :thumbsup2 Sounds you are doing an amazing job of rolling with the punches on this trip! I am so happy for you! :goodvibes
did you get your beingnets? aren't they yummy! and good way to start your day, fried dough and sugar, the breakfast of champions :woohoo:
I want one NOW!
so happy the bag got there (No judy its not the butt bag, its the smaller blue one) what did the girls say about my text back to be good to each other and their sweet mama? I just wanted to send you all some pixie dust you have done so much for Megan this past few months!
yes I did see the "unmagical" part of disney that night, so not right!
and Judy was very restrained with the rude CM's, so much more than I would of been!
AHHHH, it is a good thing it happened now and not twenty years ago....
hope you and the girls have a yummy breakfast at CP and fun at MK! sounds like a nap laying by the pool would be good for you all! then you can go back tonight for somemore Disney magic!!!
I didn't know you were ever self employed. I hear CA is a nightmare -- my sister is a nurse and I know she all sorts of issues with her nursing license there. I told dh I will NEVER be an optometrist there -- their CE requirements are so harsh.
SO TRUE for both!
Gee, let me think, who have you "unfriended" :lmao:
D~ ????? Let's see, A, B, C, D .... hmmm, it's sort of coming back to me.....
Glad you are off to a good, albeit sleepy, start this morning. We went back to our room and napped every day and stayed there until closing every night. It was less crowded that way too -- though crowds weren't a big issue at all when we were there.
Kindness is usually rewarded with kindness -- USUALLY and it IS the expected response....honestly, I treat EVERYONE as nice as I possible can. NOT ME, you ALL know how mean I am!!! And when I work I even have to be nice to some people I'd rather not be nice too! I find that complimenting a really grumpy person usually makes him/her (usually it's a her) much nicer. I SO Agree!!! We never encountered anyone in Dis that was rude except for a couple of mild incidents of other tourist being rude. All the cm's were delightful.
The incidents I will share were BEYOND rude....
What are you all wearing today? Wonder if you will get sued today?
Have a superb day! I will be leaving for work shortly so likely won't have much time to post, but I promise I will make up for it on another day! Judy really kept things rolling yesterday!
The "Mickey Butt Cooler" sounds hilarious!!!
I LOVE ours!! I am not sure if you can see it clearly here, but here are a few of the pics on PB I have loaded. The front side has Mickey's yellow buttons and suspenders, along with our name embroidered on it.
aea36434.jpg
I can't believe you encountered rudeness when being kind. I, like you, try to be as sweet as can be to everyone. I rarely have people that are excessively rude to me -- though some people are -- just their unfortunate nature.
It was actually shocking, that is certain and these were EMPLOYEES!
believe Judy was dripping with her southern charm....I of course thought it was oozing from my every pore... :lmao:
although I wasn't there when she went to guest services that night to complain about the very UNKIND CM"S...one was not just rude, but UNKIND!!
That IS true Lisa, he WAS UNKIND! But I can honestly say, I never was!
I agree, grumpy, rude people are just that and being in Disney won't change their personalities!
I saw so many people YELLING at their children IN DISNEY! Broke my heart.
Okay, so I have to stop with the responses at the moment, I WILL be back. PLEASE slow down, so I can catch up!! :scared::goodvibes:scared1::flower3:
:wave2: I'm trying to wean myself from dis. I spend WAY too much time here, but the middle of your long awaited TR would be the wrong time.
Wean yourself from Dis? That would be like weaning oneself from fabric shopping -- utterly impossible! Besides, we're threadjacking while D is gone (not sure what's up with all her little phone in reports -- but if we all pretend we're here to support D~ she'll never know the difference).
Thanks...can't take credit for everything though...most of the pieces were made by other scrappers during different swaps we do through out the year! they are so much fun and get new ideas from what the other ladies make!
You get some really nice things if some of those are from swaps. When you come to visit Judy if you could just drive with a Uhaul and bring all your supplies to help me out a bit I'd appreciate it :) I'll make you some shirts in return. I used to have a couple of friends I scrapbooked with -- my favorite passed away (breast cancer) and the other won't speak to me b/c we sent her child home since he wouldn't stop using foul language in our house -- she was livid and hasn't spoken to me since -- been about two years now....
Christy... You can tell anyone as much as you want, how awesome Lisa and Megan are - because they really are. :lovestruc
Glad you appreciate the thread jacking :) You're such a good sport. But don't worry about us while you're gone -- you just have fun and we'll take care of your ptr for you! I hope you brought some rain ponchos! The only day I didn't carry mine with me was the only day it rained for us!
D... sounds like you are having a wonderful time.:goodvibes
Lisa...I love your scrap booking pages!
Marianne & Chiara... can never get enough of seeing those adorable outfits.:goodvibes
Andrea... I keep threatening to cut DDs hair because it gets so snarly.:mad: I've never got over to JCPenney to buy the product you recommended but I have been using the WEN products which does help but I think she just needs a good cutting. But everytime I mention it she gets all upset.:sad2:
<------ Cheryl look at my number of posts. I think I am on the dis too much too.
Alexa used to squabble about having an inch trimmed so i don't know what suddenly got into her. I thought it was funny though that she was really happy but then said she never, ever wanted it cut again.
I love the Woodworking photos Judy.
Thank you Chiara! :flower3:
Judy:headache: I can't imagine what happened but that is terrible if they were just nasty.:mad:
It shocked me I wil be honest about that!
Judy - you crack me up!
My work here is done, carry on!
:lmao:
:rotfl2:
:rotfl:
I am not very funny today, sorry....:flower3:
I love the scrapbook pages too, Lisa! Not sure where my quote of them went???
ME TOO!!! :love::love:
Andrea - you should bring your stuff and I'll haul out my stuff and maybe I can actually finish scrapbooking my WEDDING in time for my 10th Anniversary this summer LOL
I feel so uncrafty....
LOVING the nerds!!! So freakin' cute!
How did I miss the quote, I LOVE it to Chiara, you are amazing...:worship::worship: PLEASE tell me DD wears your customs OUTSIDE of Disney! I would be wearing them EVERY SINGLE DAY!
Hey, Judy, any dates on those camps yet? We need to start planning this big summer DIS get together in a little more detail!!!!
Yes, I have had them, they just haven't gotten out yet it seems. Theater camp is up in the air, not sure if we are getting the scholarships or not, and those DEPEND on that. Pottery camp is June 25-29. Megan gets out of school June 27. Jazz Camp is July 23-27.
Theater camp for Lisa will be either June 11-15, June 18-22, August 6-10, July 9-13.
Theater camp for Rachel could be July 30-August 3, July 9-13, June 18-22.
Clear as mud, right?
Judy hasn't gotten the camp schedule yet, still on a waiting list, hope she gets an answer soon, I need to be planning too :thumbsup2
AHEM...we didn't have the THEATER camps nailed down....:lmao::lmao:
No, I don't sell anything. I've thought about it because a lot of people said I should, but I never have.
YOU SHOULD!!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I own her work, simply AMAZING!!!! :worship::worship:
Do you sew at all? I honestly just started about 2.5 years ago with my only sewing "lessons" being home-ec in junior high over 30 years ago. Thank you for the compliment though :) My dd wore this outfit to school yesterday and loved it -- she thought it was so comfy because it's knit. I must buy more knits now! Sadly they aren't cheap, but this dress is pretty easy to make and you can do it with short sleeves and appliques on it as well.
It is adorable! And looked so comfy! :goodvibes
I'm quite sure I can make it down to visit for at least a night -- hopefully two. It all depends on childcare for ds. I don't think he'd be interested in coming. Alexa is dying for a playdate and sleepover with Lisa though! As long as my dh is not out of town childcare shouldn't be an issue. He can stay with grandma during the day. He's mature enough to stay by himself, but I think it would be illegal.
SO excited for our playdate! :woohoo:
Now I MUST really go!
Oh and Cheryl... No one has purchased anything off of my back, but I have had tons of comments, and quite a few people stalk me for my information... One lady was going on to her Iphone as I was talking and taking notes for later. LOL
D~
Neat! :banana: :banana: :banana:
<------ Cheryl look at my number of posts. I think I am on the dis too much too.
Yipes! :faint:
Wean yourself from Dis? That would be like weaning oneself from fabric shopping -- utterly impossible! Besides, we're threadjacking while D is gone (not sure what's up with all her little phone in reports -- but if we all pretend we're here to support D~ she'll never know the difference).
But you have a life in addition to dis -- you know kids, a job, hacking down bushes.
I have boxes of cr@p from my mother that I need to get listed on e---. I figure if I have so much time to be on the computer I have to be productive.
I think you rode ToT -- how could you not? :confused3
I :love: ToT. It was shut down when I went to ride it the second time. :sad1: I decided that I didn't want to be among the first to ride it after it was "fixed."
Likewise, Splash Mt was broken the second time I went to ride it. (I still have the fastpass.) I felt sorry for the people who were stuck on it in the hot sun. Another one I didn't want to ride right after it had been worked on.
Thus ends my TR. :rotfl2:
