~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

I am continually impressed with what you are able to accomplish in a day. I know you keep yourself scheduled, how do you track your schedule? Phone, computer, calendar, planner? I'm trying to find a system that will work better for me, plus I love this kind of stuff so I've very curious how you keep your schedule organized.

I love both versions of the bag! I think I prefer the carry on because of the polka dot fabric. I saw black with white polka dot flip flops at Target yesterday and thought of you! I managed to go into Target and buy nothing. I'm not sure that's ever happened before. Although, I started a long mental list for my next Target trip!

Hope you have a great day!

Yup, you got a lot done. I love both bags. Do you have a suitcase just for the accessories? Or do you pack outfit and accessories together?

I am hoping the kids let me have time to read your trip report while I am at WDW. I don't want to get left far behind.

I am sure your Dad will love the train ride back, especially with his very own cabinette. We took the train down to Disneyland the first time I took Jacob and Marissa and we enjoyed it and that was with just seats. I would love to do a cross country train trip, but I would want to get out and explore, so maybe it wouldn't be for me.

Glad that the car is finally getting in. About time you get some cool air.

Good luck with the service appointment.

Love the Minnie bag too cute.

Can't wait to see everything else.

At the rate I am going - I will be looking for another project to make before we leave. LOL
D~
I had to laugh at this comment. This was what I would have done, too. :rolleyes1

Your trip must be getting really close. :goodvibes

By the way, they extended the Frozen Fun activities into September. Between a brand new 7 Dwarfs ride, the first time at Food & Wine Festival and now the Frozen thing, this is going to be a good trip. :cool1: Too bad it is only four nights. :sad1:

WOW you move FAST girl! That's incredible you got all that finished! :cheer2: (I'm wondering what you can do for another last minute project now!)

I love both of the bags.

I can't imagine what size your suitcase must be to fit all your bags and your accessories and your clothing! :lmao:

I'm excited for you that you are finally going to have cool air! I couldn't live without air conditioning!

I'll see if I can find a picture of our autograph skirts.

Great job on the bags!! They both are great in their own ways.

Love how V's skirt turned out!!! I was also thinking Belle for the bag (mainly though cuz that's Sarah's favorite. :lmao:)

It came out GREAT!!! Glad you have a lot done.. Hope you don't have much left!

Thanks! Nope, not much left at all... I will do my list below, so everyone can see. I am pretty proud of myself. :thumbsup2

Quite honestly - I bribe myself with food. Each day in my sewing room is blocked off to meet certain benchmarks with in the timeline of making a bag... So, I don't allow myself to eat meals until I reach those. And I don't allow myself to end my day until I meet others. It's pretty simple and it works for me.

Thank you... Yah - I cannot decide which one I like better. I do honestly like both of them. I am just glad they turned out and both of them are done.

Hehehe... Gotta love Target!

Thanks, you too!

I don't - I just pack everything together. Once I get packed I will post pictures of how I do it.

LOL - I probably won't post too much while I am in WDW. I know I won't be doing replies - most days anyways - I'll probably just pop on and post a pic of the day or something?

I hope he does... I am so nervous about it. Mostly due to his stability. He is pretty unsteady on his feet and the constant rocking motion of the train - well, I hope he doesn't decide to move around too much.

Yah - I will talk about that below. I am not too happy about it.

Yay for getting stuff done early!! The bag is so cute, I love it!

Thanks! I know - I am very happy to have made so much progress these last few weeks!

Good luck with the service appointment.

Love the Minnie bag too cute.

Can't wait to see everything else.

Thanks - it didn't go so well. I will have a nice long paragraph about it below.

Thanks!

Me too! LOL

LOL :) Yes, it's getting SUPER close!

Yah- that is a fun trip... I agree - it's going to be hard to fit it all in though. I wish you the best of luck with that!

Hahaha... Victoria already has her request in. Little monster... She saw I was making progress and then took her opportunity to add another project to my list "if I had the time"... Seriously. I just want a DAY OFF. :worship:

Thanks! LOL My suitcase isn't all that big. I have a system... and it works out pretty well actually. I will post pictures once I am all packed - which should be soon. :thumbsup2

Me too - but so far, the car issue is not going well. I'll explain below.

I would love that!

Great job on the bags!! They both are great in their own ways.

Love how V's skirt turned out!!! I was also thinking Belle for the bag (mainly though cuz that's Sarah's favorite.

Thanks! I do like both of them, they are similar, but different.

Thansk - we are so happy with it. You will see her new bag soon...

**********************************************************

Super long boring story about my car... Feel free to skip it if you want to.

So, yesterday... My car... It sucks.

I brought it into the dealership in the morning. The guy checking it in was (excuse my french) a dick. I was so upset when I left it there... Essentially, he treated me like crap - by the time I left, I felt like a common criminal.

Let me back up for a moment... We purchased an extended warranty on my car when we bought it - it had high miles, and we just wanted to protect ourselves. I have had my car for 3 years and I have YET to use the warranty once. When we purchased the warranty - we explained that the mechanic we often use is a family friend - and he does his work out of his garage at home. We were ASSURED that anyone could do work on this car and not void that warranty, as long as we kept receipts.

So, last summer, when I brought my car in to have the air recharged, and my mechanic found something wrong with the air system. We told him to stop working on it, because that would be a warranty issue. So, he wrote out a LONG detailed letter (on a piece of notebook paper) explaining exactly what he did to my car, the parts he used, and what he suspected was wrong with it. Gave it to me - and I've kept it.

So, yesterday morning, I gave it to the guy at the dealership... And he asked me "are you sure this was a REAL mechanic?"... Well, duh - I am super picky about my mechanics, and I am not going to take it to some joe schmoe... Then he went off to tell me, depending on what my "mechanic" did to my car, they may just call me and tell me to come pick it up because they won't touch it. WHAT? Seriously? Ok, fine... but that's a crock. This guy just had a seriously pissy attitude the entire time I was there. And he treated me like dirt, questioning everything I had done on my car.

Whatever.

So, then we were all done, and I asked him if I was getting a loaner car - because when I called, they told me I could have one. Then he got even more condescending... Explaining to me that they needeed ALL of my information... VALID credit card, insurance, drivers license... It's not that it bothered me to give him all that info - it was the way he said it... And then he told me that if so much as "anything happened to that car" they would be SURE to charge my insurance for it. Okaaaay... No prob - I expect that. He proceeded to tell me that some people don't even bring the cars back... As if I wasn't going to bring the car back... Alrighty... Well, I promise I will bring the car back. Scouts honor. Then... I am not allowed to put more than 75 miles on it per day... Well, I live 20 miles from town/the dealership... Do the math... 2 trips to town and I am over. So, I can take the car, but it's almost useless to me. Then (last thing, I promise) he told me that if I have to have the car for more than a day - I would be charged for it. :confused3 OK - but what if it takes more than a day for your to fix my car? Didn't matter. Ummm... OK - I thought that this was the exact situation that "courtesy cars" were meant for? Guess not.

I was so mad when I left the dealership yesterday... They took my car, but I had no idea if they would even fix it... If they did fix it, I was responsible for everythign the warranty didn't cover (which I already knew), but apparently, the warranty doesn't cover any of the diagnostic work (which is NOT what we were told when we bought the car).. And then I have a courtesy car that really isn't much of a courtesy, because I can't drive it anywhere.

So, what does any good wife do? They call their husband. Their husband gets mad... Takes the rest of the day off of work... And marches into the dealership and raises hell. ::yes:: Which is exactly what Josh did. He was so ANGRY.

Let's just say, ever since, they have been working diligently on my car. I have not dealt with anyone other than the service manager, and apologies have been forthright. Josh was even asked by the owner of the dealership that I call him personally, so he can apologize. I don't think I will be doing that. I am still very upset.

But I got to thinking last night... If that dude treats every person like that - it's no wonder people don't bring the courtesy cars back... I am having a hard time wanting to go back there myself. :confused3

And the worst part... It seems that all this time, the only thing my car needed was a freon recharge. As of close of business yesterday - there are NO leaks in my system and everythign is working perfectly. They are going to keep it all day today and continue to check it for leaks. But as of now, this whole last year was a waste, because it was a simple recharge. But according to my mechanic, when he recharged it for the 2nd time - he left it for about an hour, came back out and the freon had dumped right out the back side of my car by the firewall - which indicated something wrong with the evaporator. :confused3 So, we will see...

The whole situation really set me off for a bad day. After this fiasco is over - we won't deal with this dealership again. :headache:

Anyways... Once I was done with that, I came home to work on V's bag. Only to discover that I didn't have any zippers that would even remotely coordinate with her bag... Sigh. So I placed an emergency zipper order. I did everything else I could possibly do to her bag to get it ready, so once the zipper gets here, I just have to put it in and assemble the bag. I guess I have about 2 hours (tops) of work to do on it yet.

So, I started Olivia's bag. No time to waste time. I was able to get that cut out and quilted yesterday.

Then Josh came home early - and we ran up to St. Paul to get the girls' military IDs... A quick and painless process.

We came home... I made leftovers for dinner.

Fell asleep in my recliner for 3 hours.

Woke up in time to go to bed... but now that I had a nice nap, I couldn't go to sleep.

So, I got up and worked on stitching Olivia's applique. I am nearly done with it. LOL

Today... I will be finishing Olivia's applique and starting her bag assembly. With any luck it will be done by tonight.

Cruising right along...

When I finish that, will start BFF's bag.

What do I have left to do, you ask?

I have about 2 hours of V's bag to finish.

I am half done with Olivia's bag.

I have all of BFF's bag.

Victoria discovered that I am ahead of schedule, and extended an invitation for another bag for herself. I told her "probably not", but we'll see... If I finish BFF's bag ultra early - I might have pleanty of time to do another one for her. popcorn::

So... Pray I have the balls to return the courtesy car to the dealership today.

I hope you all have a wonderful day - prayers and good thoughts to all of you! :grouphug:

D~

Sorry that you had to deal with the jerk at the dealership. Wonder if he treats everyone like that or just women? Unfortunately, those people are everywhere.

Glad to hear you are ahead of schedule! I really need to get crackin' tomorrow on our costumes. And I still have a couple of shirts to finish, as well as a couple of things for me.

The one you've all been waiting for...

First off - I have to say, Victoria did a GREAT job making this bag for me... There are two things that I didn't like so much - which had NOTHING to do with her. First off - the interfacing I purchased from Joanns was really bad quality, and it was a mess to deal with. After mostly assembling the original bag, we went back and decided to remake it with out the interfacing - yes, it was that bad. And then the pattern itself - on both bags - it just didn't match up nicely at all, and there are spots in the bag that is shows - maybe not to anyone but us, but still it's annoying.

But, as for Victoria - she did a great job, and I cannot wait to carry this bag for our last day! And I am delighted to be able to carry a bag that I didn't have to make myself! :thumbsup2

And even though you can't see the interior fabric - it's super cool and I love it for this bag! The picture below makes it appear as white on gray, but it's acutally white on white - it's a really neat fabric!

Again -Victoria did a great job, and I cannot wait to carry this bag! :woohoo:

Oh D- I feel for you. My sister is having a very similar problem with the chrysler dealer ship.

We had no leaks in our system this year but it needed a full service. I honestly don't bring my cars back to the dealer because I have a valued mechanic I would rather pay.

I find the service of car dealership employees to be horrendous.

Love the Ohana bag.

Car dealers suck. Almost every time DH brings his jeep to the dealer, I'm shocked by the price. Except the last time when everything was covered.

The Ohana bag looks great.

FINALLY!!!! and i must say I AM IN LOVE with your ohana bag!!!!! IN LOVE!!! Please tell V i think she did a fantastic job!!! Love the colors Love the style! Love it all!!!!!

Can't wait to see if your car is fixed.

I love the Ohana bag and the white on white fabric. I've used white on white fabric in quilts and it adds a very rich look to it.

As far as the car goes - I find it extremely disturbing that it took a man, Josh, to get things done properly. I came of age during the height of the women 's lib movement and that kind of thing, treating men differently than women , gets me very angry. Car dealerships are notorious for that. When I bought my car two years ago I wanted everything in my name instead of my husbands. I was using all of my own money to buy it and it should have been a simple request. Well, in spite of my repeated request to have it I my name the car still ended up in my husband's name. And don't get me started on warranties that don't cover anything.

I hope it all works out.

Love, love the fabric on the O'hana bag! Victoria did a great job!

Just have to say your dad is so cute in all the pictures, looks like he is having a great time!

I'm thinking the guy at the dealership should be lucky he wasn't strung up by man bits under the truck after the way he treated you! There is no reason for anyone to have that kind of attitude when working in a customer service position. So sorry for your terrible experience, would definitely find a different dealership.

So excited to finally see the completed Ohana bag! It is great. Definitely says 'Ohana/Polynesian to me.

I am so sorry for your problems at the car dealership. I hate dealing with them so I make DH handle all car issues 95% of the time.

You are making such great progress on all your custom work for your trip! V is a smart girl, I'd try to get an extra bag if it looked like you were going to have free time too! You so deserve a day off to relax and enjoy all of the hard prep work you have put into this trip and your bags. I hope you'll be able to do that for yourself :goodvibes

Don't even get me started on car dealerships. After my recent experience, I'd rather pull my fingernails out than deal with them again. Thank goodness I have a wonderful mechanic that I trust. Btw I finally got my car issues resolved. Car is finally registered in my name and I got a check for the cost of the key.

Love the Ohana bag! V did a great job!

Boo to mean car dealership guys!!

But yay to Ohana bag!!! And to finishing MORE stuff ahead is schedule!! Whoop!

Wow. Rough day at the car dealership. I always wonder how some people can keep their jobs and be so mean. I would be passive aggressive. Write out a "fake" letter to the owner of the dealership detailing what a jerk this guy was and that he should be fired. Then crumple it up and "forget" to clean out the car. :stir:

I love the Ohana bag. I am sure most of the population would not notice any issures with it.

I hope your day is better.

Have you heard anything from your Dad? He is on the train now right?
