Love the photo of V in the sewing room! She looks so adorable in those glasses!! I'm glad you were able to get your latest order almost done. Can't wait to see a photo of it! Yes, the 5x7 might be a little too big. Maybe a little too heavy too. But, if you don't have time to do it again, it will certainly work. It's very cute!!
Yes - I love that picture of her - she is so cute.
Well, I am just putting it on the bottom of my shirt hem... but I agree - the more I look at it the bigger it gets. I think I am going to load the 4x4 on to my memory stick this morning, so I can work on it this afternoon while V is finishing my 'Ohana bag.
Time at the lake will be so good for all of you! It looked so peaceful in the photos last year. You seem to be fairly well caught up now. Are you happy about where you are at this point? Are they cool at Alli's work that she'll be gone a week? I hope she loves her job!
I am looking forward to the lake... I am not looking forward to the family dynamics... but we have a plan this year if it goes south again...
Sort of caught up... I have these 2 weeks scheduled off in my sewing room. But I still have Auction bag #10 to squeeze in before the end of July... I would have started that yesterday, but the fabric isn't here yet - so it makes me nervous that I am going to have to hustle with that one when we get home.
Yes, Target/Starbucks is OK with her time off... I gave her a list of dates she needed off this summer (including this coming week and our Disney trip) to tell them about at her first interview, and since she alerted them then about the dates, the agreed to give her that time off when they hired her. So, it really only means she will be working a total of 4 weeks this summer, by the time we get home... but it will be a good experience for her.
I'm getting over my sinus infection, but actually feel worse today than yesterday. The cough is just so persistent and my chest feels like Dumbo is sitting on it. But, I know it will pass eventually and am trying not to let it keep me down.
I sure hope you are feeling better soon. This seems like it's been going on forever.
You looked amazing in that photo on Facebook!! You look like a teenager. Just so darn cute!
Thank you... Which picture are you talking about? LOL In all seriousness - people keep telling me that, and I don't get what it is about me that looks so young? LOL Not complaining, it just makes me wonder. LOL
Well, hope you get everything accomplished that you need to today. Have fun!
ETA: Glad you're happy with your FP+ selections. Won't be long before I'll be grabbing ours. Oh, and I meant to ask you about those things you put around your necks last year for the heat. I can't remember what they're called. Where did you get them? I thought I'd get some for our trip this year. Thanks!
Thank you... Oh - the Frogg Toggs... I purchased mine on Ebay... BFF got her's for this year at Bed Bath and Beyond. Definitely a LIFE SAVER! They do get musty smelling after a few days though - so I have those Tide sink packets, and I just wash them in the sink a couple times during our trip = all better.
Oh no!!! I missed days 1-6! I will be ferociously looking back for them later. And day 7? Wasn't there a short trip dilemma due to visiting family? Glad that worked out! I love a good 7+ day vacation!
Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards
Well, you can find Days 1-6 on my first page of this ptr... I think it's the 3rd post, I have all of them linked... So it should only take you a few seconds to see them all.
Well, it's only an 8 day trip, LOL... But it's really hard for us to only go for 8 days even, since we are used to 9 or 10... Those extra 2 days are potential rest days/our second MK & AK days, so it's really hard to chop those out of the plans. But it's OK - we'll make due.
Good Morning D~. It looks like you had a nice weekend. I did the dreaded bathing suit shopping. I kind of wanted a brown suit mainly because I have a brown cover up I love but apparently brown is not in this year.
I started out at Sears looking at the Land's End suits and unfortunately they did not work out for me at all. I'm in between two sizes, the smaller size was too small and the next size up too big. So I headed to J.C. Penney where the suits were all 50% off. I was determined I was not going to get polka dots due to my previous experience with tanning in a polka dot pattern but alas, the one that fit me and looked good was this St. John's Bay one.
Yep, I ended up with the one suit I was not going to get!

And check out the flip flops I found to match.
I hope you have a great day! I'll try to check in again later this week as I'm flying up home to visit Mom on Friday 7/4 and won't be back till 7/13. I doubt I will spend much time on the DIS during that week!
What a bummer that the LE suits didn't work for you... They even have brown this year.

But I am glad you found a suit and LOOKIE how cute and Disney it is!

I know - I am super freightened I will get a polka-dot tan this summer... I guess we will find out when we are at the lake. LOL I'll be sure to post pictures if I do.
Have a great trip to see your mom - please tell her hello.
D i love your plans for you trip. are you going to update your cards with the fp+ times on it?
I love that suit with the matching flip flops.
Thanks! I thought about it, but then I thought against it, just because all of the times could change on the fly. I figure I will just rely on
MDE for that?
Sounds like you had a productive weekend! I forgot to say that I love Lands End bathing suits, too! I need to get a more modest one for the neighborhood pool or pool parties and keep my two pieces for vacation (going to Mexico with DH in October!).
Enjoy your DISmeet and the 4th!
And YAY for paying in full!!! (but no banana yet...)
I did... Yes - I am so addicted to LE suits... I just love how I feel so supported in them. I wanted to get a bikini top this year, but they didn't have one I liked... I loved the dotted one, but it didn't have an underwire like the tankini portion did - so it wasn't an option for me. I wish they would add the dots every year, I adore them. Red dots would make me squee! LOL
First off, LOVE the Nemo bag. I mean, really love it.
Thanks Shannon - I really love it too, it was so fun to make!
Your MK day looks fun. You snagged 2 great ADRs. We are only doing 1 full day at MK too. But, I did that because we will have just been to
Disneyland.
Yah - I totally understand. I am excited about our ADRs.
I love seeing your progress pictures. You are truly doing an amazing job. You always get so much out of your Photopass (Memory Maker), but now I can see there being even more pictures.
Thank you -I hope so... I want a bazillion pictures on that thing this time. LOL
You mentioned flying to Portland...hmmmm, got me thinking. I live 2 hrs from Portland. Just putting it out there, if you think you might have some time. I would drive to see you.
Yes, I will let you know... If I do come out - it will be sometime in the first week of August. As of now, I only plan to stay 2 days, it's really going to depend on my schedule, and the fact that I won't have a car while I am there, so I will be relying on family to cart me around. I will definitely let you know when I am coming and see if we can make it work... However, right now, it's not a definite trip - there is still a possibility that my Dad won't go - so I am waiting to book airfare until I know for sure.
Howdy!
Great picture of V! she is just too cute. Good Luck to A on her new adventures and the work force...
I am IN LOVE with the blue fabric for your Ohana bag!!!!
Thanks Mo... She had a great day on her first day... Lots of paperwork.
Moose is still my favorite character! How is Lottie doing with Max?
Miss Prickly/Pissy pants? Oh she is just as pissy as ever. LOL It's MM who is the nice guy... Surprisingly, V leaves her bin on the floor of her room all the time with out a cover on it - and MM could care less. It's kind of cute, because whenever we have her out and holding her, he comes to sniff - and she puffs up... and he's like...
Being Irish. you can NEVER have too much beer.
He that buys land buys many stones He that buys flesh buys many bones. He that buys eggs buys many shells, But he that buys good beer buys nothing else.
yes twas taught this at a wee age.. There is another one about not have empty cabinets yet is escapes me...
Enjoy your Day.. time to go and stalk Suzi...
Hahaha... I don't like beer.
That bag is SOOOOO AWESOME!!! Love the seagull peeking around the corner and the choice of using Peach on the coin purse.
Thanks Liz! It was so fun to make that one, I love it too.
Great pic of V at the machine. What fun to be working on the bag together.
Thanks - I love that picture. It is fun to work with her, she is very comfortable at my machine and she does a great job. I love that we can share a hobby together too.
Congrats to Alli on her Target job! So responsible of her to want to be earning her own money. You had made a comment many posts ago about wanting her to enjoy her childhood days- I so appreciate that as I feel the same way about my own 17 year old daughter. When they take the initiative to do something like get a job- it is hard to let go but you should also be really proud of her feeling reading and wanting that level of responsibility. It is as it should be.
I know... I am proud of her. And since we work at the same place, she knows so many people there... I think it's a good first job for her. And since we are in different areas of the store - we will never see eachother... Besides, I only work there one day a week. LOL
I am glad she wants the responsibility - it's just so hard, because she has her whole life to work, ya know?
Love hearing your Disney trip countdown.
Have a fabulous July 4th weekend!
Liz from NH (aka Lucky #18 )
Thanks Liz - you too!
Hi D!
Sorry I haven't been here in FOREVER! We got home from our trip (
Disney cruise) in November and I got horribly sick. And then in February, in the time span of 8 days, my mother had a heart attack, my husband had a stroke (he's only 52 years old) and I broke my back. Exactly one week after that, my husband lost his job. Fortunately, my mom is better and my husband doesn't really have any lasting effects from the stroke. Unfortunately, my husband still hasn't found a new job.
Oh wow... I've been wondering about you and where you've been. I am so sorry to hear all about this, it's just awful news, and then the car accident you mentioned below... I sure hope you all get a break soon, as this has been just awful. Many hugs and many prayers being sent your way - I am thankful your DH is OK. :grouphug
Anyway, I wanted to stop by and say 'Hi'. I saw the bags you have done and they are absolutely breathtaking! I wish I had as much talent in my whole body as you do in your little finger!
Thank you so much and thank you for stopping by, I am so relieved to hear that you are OK, and I certainly pray that things get better for you all.
It sounds like your trip is right around the corner. That is so exciting! I hope you get everything done. I can't wait to see everything! Congrats on getting it paid off!
Looking forward to hearing all about your preparations and then the actual trip!
Thank you... I sure hope so too. It get a little crazy here at the end, where I am trying to do a bazillion things at one time.
Hi D~
Great progress pictures. You have done fabulous.
Hi Jane! Thank you!
Love the Nemo bag the colors and appliques are amazing!!
Thanks! I love how it turned out too!
I hope Ali has an enjoyable experience with her first job and V looks like she is having so much fun in the sewing room with you.
I hope so too, LOL. She does have fun, this has been a good project to work on together - we make a good team.
I had a nice weekend at the beach and am looking forward to seeing James Taylor in Tanglewood on the 4th. Hopefully, we won't have any storms as we have lawn seats.
Oooh - have fun! Yes, I hope the storms stay away!
When you go to the lake how far up do you go? My boys are leaving on 7/9 to drive to Ely MN where they are fishing at Latourell's (not sure of spelling) with a guide for a few days. I can't wait to be home alone with my daughter for two weeks.
Hope you have a good week!!
Jane
We are more south-west from there - by about 150+ miles? Roughly? We are an hour straight north of Alexandria. I hope they have a fun trip and I Hope you have a nice time with your daughter.
That Nemo Bag is Awesome! the gull totally creeped me out - I hate those things; they remind me of the one time I went to the beach as a child and was creeped out by the sea gulls.
I did get a little sewing done, but it didn't turn out the way I hoped so I'll probably re-do it. I was using some stashed fabric, a poly-cotton blend it it apparently had more poly than cotton. And then I put the thing together wrong and puckered it up even more. Sheeesh.
The most exciting thing we did this weekend was wash T. Now he's fluffy and not stinky!! He had found something to roll in recently and REEKED!.
Here's hoping to a surprise loss and a good week!
Hahaha... Yah - I don't like seagulls that much either - but I do like the ones from Nemo.
V and I are having the same issue with the barkcloth for my 'Ohana bag... It is much more stiff, but thinner than the cotton I ususally work with, so it's definitely different and more annoying to work with.
LOL - MM does that at the lake all the time... It's awful. He usually has several baths while we are there. Sometimes, I think he does it, so Dad "plays" in the lake with him.

I had a good day yesterday...
I worked in my sewing room for a little bit in the morning. I started cutting out one of my own park bags. I really wanted to get started on Auction bag #10, but the fabric isn't here for it yet, so I need to make my time count and work on *something* productive.
Then, I took Alli to Target for her first day of work... All growed up... Tear.
From there, I went to the MOA for my Dismeet with Glass Slippers (Lori)... It was so much fun - I think we could have sat there for hours longer just chatting. She is such a nice person.

We had lunch at Bubba Gump (Shrimp Co.)... I had salmon with veggies and rice and lots of butter... Once she got my plate right the 3rd time she brought it out - it was very good. I don't understand how people can misunderstand the statement of "no sauce and no seasonings..."

But whatever, it was really good after that was figured out.
And of course, if you don't have a Dismeet picture, it didn't happen (I need to update my master Dismeet post...)
I put V in charge of dinner, so she was working hard on "confetti spaghetti" when we got home... It was so nice to not have to worry about dinner.
Alli had a good first day... It was just orientation, so lots of paperwork and videos to watch. She starts training on the registers on Thursday.
Then last night, we watched the thing on Diagon Alley on NBC, thanks to Nini - that was pretty cool. Then we kept it on that channel for the ninja wars or whatever it was called - that was awesome, those guys are SO STRONG! I envy their muscles!
Today, I am working in my sewing room again... All day. I hope to get my next park bag quilted this morning. Then this afternoon, I am hoping I can rope V into finishing my 'Ohana bag... Then, at least - I will have 1.5 bags to cross off my list before we leave for the lake.

Disney stuff:
Feel free to dance now.
I must to a shout out to my
Ahhhh-mazing Travel Agent... I know she reads here... She is so awesome! It takes her hours to enter in all of my GCs, and this time, she had the added task of doing BFF's too. Not only that, but then when one doesn't work (ahem

) - she has to try a bazillion times more to get it to work, and then finally find out *someone* (ahem again) entered the number wrong in the first place.

So, she is just awesome - she really is. I am so lucky to have her, she is just the best and I wouldn't trust my trips with anyone else. So, to my wonderful TA... I love you!
So, we are just excited to have this trip paid off. It amazes me that I can pay for almost a whole trip with 10 bags. LOL I really need to make 10 bags more often.

Not.
Then....

I am sooooooo excited!!!! Terri finished my Donald Duck shoes yesterday. I am not sharing them here just yet, as I am waiting for some other DD stuff to come... but once that comes, I will start showing all of you my custom outfits one by one...... I am super excited for all of them! They are really cool this time!

But the DD shoes - they are just the BEST!!! Thanks so much Terri - you are wicked awesome! Don't be surprised if I need a Minnie pair too... LOL Kidding.
**********************************************************
I hope you all have a wonderful day... Sending out prayers and good thoughts to all of you.
D~
