~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

I LOVE my bag!!! Thank you D~ for doing something different for me pixiedust: What perfect timing that you drove by St. Louis & the Arch last week. :wizard:
I love the colors, the lighter blue is very popular with Cardinal fans because of the team from the 80's (Ozzie Smith & Willie McGee days):goodvibes
KatMark LOL! I knew there would be some anti Cardinal statements
Now I am hoping for an auction so I can get a Disney themed bag ;)
Count me in on the road trip to Disney, that would be a blast!:drive: My one and only dismeet was because of my UPB Minnie... I was running to catch the monorail and luckily a very nice young lady spotted it and we were able to get a picture together with our bags :wave2:

Hey D! :wave2:

I've been off the disboards for a while but I am back. I believe I subbed in on your March 12 trip? Anywho.. I am here on this one. Can't wait to hear all about your girls trip!

All I could think about was the St Louis Cardinals when I seen that bag. My ds#2 would love for me to get that bag. He is a huge fan.

Fantastic progress D~!!

I'd love to say I LOVE the bag, but I just can't. It's our archrival. :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: I will say your work is excellent as always. :)

Uh oh, I think we're going to have to agree to disagree about baseball teams Kathy! I grew up in the middle of IL, and I'm a Cardinals fan!

Uh oh, I think we're going to have to agree to disagree about baseball teams Kathy! I grew up in the middle of IL, and I'm a Cardinals fan!

There is only one other team that I hate more than the Cardinals and that is the White Sox. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

D~ you did an awesome job on the Cards bag. Not a Cards fan here either, but I do love the bag! (My son works for the Pirates so that is the only NL team I could even try to support - my heart is with my beloved Baltimore Orioles!)

I think the bag captures the spirit of St. Louis perfectly.

Yesterday started out as a crappy day - first of all I woke up to about 1.5 inches of that stupid white stuff that I've come to despise this year. WTH!????? I wanted to get into work early, so I did have to take too much time off for the opening day game. I guess the universe had other plans for me....my car broke down on a two lane road - no place to actually pull over to get out of the travel lane - on a freakin' hill!. Called AAA for a tow - they told me it would be about an hour before the truck got there, but they would note that I was in a dangerous situation. 45 hair raising minutes later the tow truck comes - from AROUND THE CORNER! Really???? it took them 45 minutes to drive from 5 minutes away?????

I had called Charlie, who was getting ready to go out of town, luckily he was still home. He called and rented a car for his trip so I could have his car :lovestruc. By the time my car got to the mechanic's place and we went to pick up C's rental, there was no point in me going to work - I'd almost have to turn around to come home again. So I just went home.

In the meantime, my cousin from KY calls me, and I just know its going to be bad news....Turns out, another cousin's (to both of us) son died in a motorcycle accident early Sunday morning in California. Today would have been his 30th birthday. I swear when it rains it pours....

On the good news front - yes, there is good news too. Jim will be coming home tomorrow to be Kat's non-medical escort again, for the month of April. The Navy approved his travel and he will arrive in Bethesda tomorrow. Kat's current NME has accepted a new job, so she needed someone to help her. Her next surgery (for reconstruction of her colon) will be on April 29, so Jim will be here until then. This time he will not be restricted to the base, so we should have a few opportunities to see him (and Kat too)!

Also on the good news front - my O's won their home opener!!!!!! Steve (my oldest ds) and I had a great time at the ball park yesterday - despite the snow on the ground at home, the temps were in the 60s at the game - very windy though.:dance3:

Spring Break Is OVER!!! and I need about another three days to recover.

Now to really get serious about Disney etc. And sewing, although I threw together a little zipper bag on Sunday. Took me about 45 minutes.

Love the St. Louis bag (not the team, although I don't really have any strong anti-Cardinals sentiments either.) And it's kinda nice to see you stretch your wings outside of the Disney-sphere.

Ok, the Danskos look super comfy. I may actually have to look into some.

Hugs to all, prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Ok ok had to :rotfl2: She asked for a non Disney theme bag... I get the Cardinal, but I see Disney poka dots on the inside.......:goodvibes Guess that Disney feeling just doesn't go away........:thumbsup2

So glad Target let you off to go to the funeral. And very sorry you got sick on Chipotle! I can't eat it any more either for some reason. And it was a favorite!

Yes, you did ask how I got my machine to Virginia. I totally forgot to answer you. I actually drove here, so that made it easy. We always drive here. It's a six hour drive and I don't particularly love making it by myself, but I do what I have to do. I usually just put on some music I love and sing at the top of my lungs all the way. I figure it entertains my fellow travelers.:rotfl:

I love the job you did on the Cardinal bag. And what fun lining! It's probably fun to do something a bit out of the box, right?

Okay, those before and after shots have GOT to encourage you and make you smile! What a wonderful job you're doing.:thumbsup2 I know you will keep it up, and that's encouraging for the rest of us. I plan to get back to the Y when I get home and Dan and I like to go to a nearby park that has several walking trails in the woods. Hope the weather gets better so we can all get out and "blow the stink off" as they say. You are amazing!! Keep it up! And I will be very interested to see how Gus proves Whole Wheat is good. Processed is always bad!::yes::

Today is my last day here in Virginia. Jennifer gets her cast off at 10:00 today. She'll need lots of PT, but she is so excited to be cast free! I'll head home tomorrow!! Thank you so much for your support through this whole ordeal. It has really meant a lot to have so much encouragement from people I don't know IRL. But I do feel as though I know you!

Have a fun and productive day! :flower3:

The conference about Cerebral Palsy is in Lillestrøm (a short train ride from the airport in Oslo). So it's a 2 hour flight then a 20 minute train ride from home. It is held at a very nice conference hotel where everyone is staying. So it's a very social conference as well as informative.

This sounds awesome! And it sounds like a lot of fun too.

How nice of Target to give you some time of yesterday so you could be with Alli at the funeral.

Yes, I was a little surprised too. I honestly didn't think they would, but once I explained the situation, they were happy to. So, that was a relief.

I'm sorry to hear that you got sick after eating the lunch. At least you now know that your body don't like that kind of food.

Sounds like you all had a nice evening last night.

Yes, I just can't eat it anymore. Oh well...

I can't wait to see the skirt you made. I am in awe of all the things you can make. I thought I was doing so good, when I made my DD pj pants with a matching set for her AG doll.

I am very excited about it. I hope to wear skirts a little more often this summer.

You are doing great - that is how I started sewing is AG items... They are small, so the fabric you use is minimal - it's a great place to start.

My august trip dates changed, which is good and bad since we went from staying in 3 resorts ( then adding a night to make 4 resorts). We were doing 8 nights now we are doing 7 nights but all at BWV. We had to change all our ADRs, which my DH keeps on changing. He is trying to figure out if we should do DDP or TIW.

I hope you were able to get all of your ADRs you needed. Personally - I love DDP, but that's just me.

What a difference between the before and now pictures. You're doing a great job and it shows

I'm cheering on you

Thank you Lillian, I've been very dedicated to this.

Your progress pictures are awesome! You look great! Congratulations! Keep up the good work.

Thank you!

I'm glad you were able to work out going to the funeral with Alli yesterday, I know you felt better being there with her than you would have sending her on her own.

Me too, I know she was relieved to have me there, as well.

I'll be happy to see the skirt pictures whenever you decide to post them. I found a tutorial yesterday for little girl twirl skirts - I'm really thinking I'd like to take a shot at them for the girls - maybe in red, white, and blue for 4th of July - I can't imagine I'll be able to figure out sewing by Easter My aunt is fabulous at sewing and lives about 30 minutes away, so I may see if she is up to helping me with my first couple of projects. I think I want to tackle scrapbooking our recent trip first though. I also really want to put together the shadowboxes from the girls' first trips. Too many projects and work takes up way too much time!

Hope you have a productive day! I have to have one here.

You should! That sounds so cute! You would be surprised at how quick they go together. I started another one last night (it even has a hidden zipper) and all I have left to do to it is add the bottom trim. Skirts go together so quickly.

Wow, you are on such a journey and it's amazing. I just love to see people take charge of their health!! (and the "right" way, too)

Thank you... It has been quite a journey for me... I feel like I am constantly tweeking to find what works best, but I think I have finally settled into my routine.

I can't wait to see the new bag. And whoever mentioned Star Wars...I bet you could have a great auction for that for Star Wars weekends! I realized I misspoke in my post last week and meant to say I hope the custom sign-up goes well...sounds like it went so well you were full in a minute?! Wow!

It's OK - LOL - I knew what you meant. It did go well, and it's a relief to know that I have a "job" for another year.

I've been spending all my evening free time sewing to get everything done for our trip. It's exhausting, but fun.

Yay!!! I hope you are able to get everything done. I just love that dress you made last week - I need to go look and see what else you've been up to.

Awesome progress photos!!! You look great! I know you will be so much happier this summer!

Thank you. I remember taking those shots last May, and thinking that I had made so much progress already. It's nice to see how much further I have come since then.

You girls are gonna have so much fun in Chicago! I'm excited for you all!!

I am very excited too! I cannot wait!

D, I'm so glad that Target gave you a couple hours off to go with Alli to the funeral. That really was very nice of them.

And can I just add what an awesome job you are doing!!! You look absolutely terrific and keep up the good work.

I know - it was such a relief to get to go with her.

Thank you... It's been hard to be persistant sometimes, but I feel like it's starting to pay off.

Wow there's a huge difference in your before and after photos. Congrats on all your hard work.

Thanks Liz!

I'd like to see pictures of the skirt. I used to sew clothes all the time. I really should get back to it.

I will post pictures, I just haven't decided when. :scratchin

It was nice of Target to let you leave for a few hours for the funeral. Allie probably really appreciated it.

I know... I was so nervous for her to go alone, so it was really nice of them.

It's supposed to go up to 65 today but I live so close to the lake that it won't be that actually warm. I pulled out a short sleeved shirt to wear to work today.

I dream of warmth... I hope you were able to enjoy it a little bit yesterday.

Sunday my daughter went out to the thrift shops looking for vintage pyrex. She collects it. It boggles my mind want people charge for the stuff. It me, it's just the bowls I have in my cupboards not collectables. She did find some bowls and a casserole dish with a lid.

I think this is cool. I have a few vintage pieces - by default... So I can see the appeal of them, as they just don't make it like they used to... That's with a lot of things - not just Pyrex. So, personally, I don't collect them - but those are the first dishes I pull out to use, as they are my favorites. :thumbsup2

I have to wok 11-8 again today. I hope everyone has a good day.
Liz

I hope you had a great day!

Keep up the Great work you look fantastic!

Thanks Mo!

D I loved watching you last year when I couldn't workout and you have always been an inspiration. I love that you found a program that works for you.

Thanks Chiara!

I just have no shame in posting pictures because I am proud of my progress and change.

LOL - I am not ashamed of my pictures at all. I just have issues posting pictures of myself half-dressed. That's all. :lmao:

I can't wait for my next pictures but life is crazy as you know.

I am excited for my next ones too... I've lost exactly 20lbs since the beginning of the year, but I feel like my progress pictures don't show that at all.

Can't wait to see your latest bag.

:thumbsup2

Haven't posted in a while but had to say you look amazing!!!!!! Great job!

Thank you so much! It's taken lots of dedication and perserverance.

I'd love to say I LOVE the bag, but I just can't. It's our archrival. I will say your work is excellent as always.

Hahaha... Thanks!

The bag is absolutely gorgeous. Totally loving the colors.

THanks Chiara!

Lovely bag you have made. Love the colors

Thank you!

I LOVE my bag!!! Thank you D~ for doing something different for me pixiedust: What perfect timing that you drove by St. Louis & the Arch last week.

So very glad you like it! I love how the colors turned out!

I will definately count you in on our road trip. :thumbsup2

I loved that Dismeet - it is one of my favorite. Chance meetings because of the bags I make - that's too cool.

Hey D!

I've been off the disboards for a while but I am back. I believe I subbed in on your March 12 trip? Anywho.. I am here on this one. Can't wait to hear all about your girls trip!

CASEY!!!!!!!!!!! It's great to see you back on The Dis!!! I hope you are well!

All I could think about was the St Louis Cardinals when I seen that bag. My ds#2 would love for me to get that bag. He is a huge fan.

Thanks so much... That's what it is based off of. It was a fun bag to make.

Fantastic progress D~!!

Uh oh, I think we're going to have to agree to disagree about baseball teams Kathy! I grew up in the middle of IL, and I'm a Cardinals fan!

THanks Meg!!!

There is only one other team that I hate more than the Cardinals and that is the White Sox.

I am staying out of this one... LOL I am a Twins fan.

I know you didn't have a lot of time off available for this, so I hope it doesn't mess with any of your future days off. I am glad you were able to work it out before Charlie left though, and hopefully the repair isn't too costly.

In the meantime, my cousin from KY calls me, and I just know its going to be bad news....Turns out, another cousin's (to both of us) son died in a motorcycle accident early Sunday morning in California. Today would have been his 30th birthday. I swear when it rains it pours....

Just showed the bag to my son and he said I needed one.

LOL Glad you both like it!

Spring Break Is OVER!!! and I need about another three days to recover.

Yay!!! You survived!

Now to really get serious about Disney etc. And sewing, although I threw together a little zipper bag on Sunday. Took me about 45 minutes.

Cool!!! I want to make a little clutch-type bag to coordinate with my skirt - if I have the time.

Love the St. Louis bag (not the team, although I don't really have any strong anti-Cardinals sentiments either.) And it's kinda nice to see you stretch your wings outside of the Disney-sphere.

Thank you... Yah - it was fun to do something a little different.

Ok, the Danskos look super comfy. I may actually have to look into some.

They are! I love them!

Hugs to all, prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Thank you! Same to you, my friend.

Ok ok had to She asked for a non Disney theme bag... I get the Cardinal, but I see Disney poka dots on the inside....... Guess that Disney feeling just doesn't go away........

Well, I really wanted to do Cardinals fabric, but I can't buy it in MN - they don't sell it here... And I couldn't find any online. So, I kind of had to use what I had that would work. I don't like doing that, but sometimes I don't have a choice. :thumbsup2 Considering that, I am very happy with how it turned out.

So glad Target let you off to go to the funeral. And very sorry you got sick on Chipotle! I can't eat it any more either for some reason. And it was a favorite!

Me too...

Yah - I am stumped about what it is that makes me so sick every time... Oh well.

I figure it entertains my fellow travelers.

Ahhh... For some reason, I thought you flew this time. Glad you were able to drive, bring your machine and sing at the top of your lungs the whole way. ::yes::

I love the job you did on the Cardinal bag. And what fun lining! It's probably fun to do something a bit out of the box, right?

Thank you - yes, it was fun to do something outside the norm.

Okay, those before and after shots have GOT to encourage you and make you smile! What a wonderful job you're doing. I know you will keep it up, and that's encouraging for the rest of us. Processed is always bad!

Thanks... I see the progress, but I also see so many more things I want to change. I guess, that's what keeps me going. I am nearly at my smallest ever adult size, and I never thought I would see it again... but now that I am here - I feel like I am not done... So, I will just keep going.

LOL - I am interested to see what Gus comes back at me with... He is taking a college nutrition class right now - which is full of Conventional Wisdom... So, I know it's a lot for me to ask of him to "think outside the box".

I would love it, if more people would realize that "healthy whole wheat" is the ultimate in processed food... Once you give that up, it really opens a whole new world. And honestly - I don't feel like I am missing out on anything.

I am so happy to hear that Jennifer is doing so well! I know you are anxious to go home, but I am certain it's going to be hard to say goodbye to the grands after being there for so long. Our continued prayers for Jennifer, please keep me updated if you can. And have a safe trip home.

**********************************************************

I worked in my sewing room all day yesterday. I was able to get my next custom order started.

I had to run the girls to town after school yesterday, so that cut my work day short.

Last night, Josh had to go to town... So, I snuck back up to my sewing room and knocked out another skirt for myself. It's completely finished - I just have to add the bottom trim... It will be very cute with my red sandals. ::yes::

That's about all for today...

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Prayers and good thoughts go out to everyone. :grouphug:

D~

Good Morning D!

Congratulations on the before and after pictures! I agree you look amazing and all your hard work is really paying off! I wish I was brave enough to post pictures of my progress (but since I am a chicken), maybe I will just send them to you.....:scared:

Love the new bag too!:thumbsup2

Another skirt?!?! You are super productive - you're making me feel like a total slacker. But, I will remind myself that your girls are much older and self sufficient than mine are so our time at home with them is probably quite different. I don't imagine you were cleaning up after potty accidents, fighting about homework and baths, or unexpectedly changing sheets after an accident - well, maybe fighting about homework :rotfl:

Hope you have a great day! I didn't get nearly enough done at work yesterday so I am slammed again today. Looking forward to the end of this week!

I love the Cardinal book. I'm not a St. Louis fan. the Cardinal is our high school mascot and is seen all over the place here.
I was inside most of yesterday. My daughter and niece took my almost 2 year old nephew to the park to play at the playground. I got to go out to the store's backyard to get a pallet jack sometime life isn't fair.
I'm love to see how your skirts turned out.
Have a great day. I'm going to my mom's and them grocery shopping for both of us.
Liz

There is no licensed MLB fabric available. Used to be, but not anymore.

Kate told me that she loves the two-zip hipster I made for her and asked if I could make one a bit larger so she could put her ipad in it and in a baseball theme. This I can do! I have a plan.....

Another skirt! I need to get on the ball. I wear skirts or dresses a lot in the summer since they are cooler than slacks and dressier than capris for work. Not so much in the winter, since that walk from the parking lot to the office is windy and cold - and about 3 blocks long.

Good morning D - all caught up (again); I did not get on in time to see your progress pics - can you PM them to me? I am so very proud of you! You should be proud of yourself D.

Love the shoes - keep the red! They will always go with something. But I vote blue for the skirt.

D - I was going to PM you this morning, I am a pretty close to the vest person. But there are some things that stand out on everyone's posts to this awesome thread that made me realize I should just put my request out there for everyone. Most of the people who have kept up with your thread are Moms to children of various ages, and they believe in the power of prayer. And God has instructed us to call upon other Christians in time of need. I am not going to go into detail, but I need a lot of prayer for my youngest son. We have been dealing with a lot of issues these past few years with him; but yesterday a lot of things came to the forefront that were just devastating to me as his mother. Unfortunately, he and his Dad have a very strained relationship, so I cannot share this burden with him. It would only make things worse right now. I am just relying on prayer and the guidance of God and other people I am reaching out to today. Thank you all so much.

Have a wonderful day D - sending prayers and hugs to you and your family and Dad.

D, I couldn't see your progress photos but you are a big inspiration to me. I'm trying. I got frustrated went off the bandwagon when things got really busy and tough at home but slowly getting back on.
