~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

I am at the hospital with my dad. He was brought in by ambulance yesterday. He was admitted through the er. I came up last night and slept here with him. He was ct scanned/mri/spinal tapped last night. They have ruled out stroke, but are leaning towards a brain infection. Please keep him in your prayers.

Please do not post anything on my facebook, as I am having a hard time reaching family, and I don't want them seeing this there.

Prayers to all.

Oh no. How horrible. Hope he gets better soon.

Thanks D~ I do want to read through. I think I will read along as we go, but still go back & try to catch up....without getting behind. lol

Love the picture of V w/MM.

Your towels look great. Maybe you could try Bed Bath & Beyond? Might be able to catch a sale. Also, I think I have seen them at Michaels and/or AC Moore, maybe only on occassion though.

Thanks Dee... I appreciate you wanting to go back and read. I am just glad you stopped by. :lovestruc

I did look at Bed Bath and Beyond - but they weren't very good there either. I did a google search, and apparently this is a common problem, they don't make flour sack towels like they used to.

I hope you husband agrees to the photo shoot. He should think of the girls. Someday when you two are long gone, they will treasure those photos. I know I hold close to every photo I have of both my parents. Especially the ones of them together. (of course in my case those are rare as they divorced after 33 years of marriage. lol).

I have him pretty much talked into it - but finding the right moment where he will put on his "nicer" clothes on his day off is sometimes challenging. Maybe we can do it this spring? I will remain hopeful. LOL

As far as how we are... we are all well...at the moment at least.

I know what you are saying about choosing the least uncomfortable month to go... lesser of the evils I suppose. BUT, it's still Disney. I struggle with similiar choices. Go during the school year & not stay as long, or go in the summer & add a few extra days. But, after all that rain, crowds and heat.... back to the fall for us. Plus, I love the Christmas decorations. But, I wish we could stay for 10+ days. Although, due to school starting we couldn't even get that in on our Aug. trip this past time.

Okay, now back to trying to get caught up.

I am glad you are doing well Dee. :lovestruc I know - it's so hard to choose when to go. It seems that while the girls are in high school - there never is a great time to go. I know that one year, I am going to have to bite the bullet and deal with the Christmas crowds. I want to experience Disney at Christmas, and I want to do it with them.

Sheeewwww!!!!! I just read all 36 pages of your PTR, and loved loved loved every moment of it!!!! Can't wait to read more!!!! Also, CP is a must do for us each trip as well;)

Welcome!!! I am so excited to have you here! I am glad you are enjoying my PTR... Sorry you had to come in on a time in my life that's a little crazier than normal. But I am very happy you are here - so welcome! :lovestruc

Thank you - all of you - from the very bottom of my heart.

My Dad is doing much better. He was really showing all the signs of a stroke when he was brought in, so I am thankful beyond words that is not what is was and he is on his way to making a full recovery.

He was brought in on Sunday - TWICE - by ambulance. It's such a long story, but the shortened version is that the first time he was sent home... I think he was looked over very quickly and a hasty decision was made to send him home. Even though they did the CT scan and and xray the first time... I was still at home at that time, so I talked to him on the phone... He kept dropping the phone and he was talking nonsense and he was very hard to understand. So, he gave the phone back to the nurse and I asked her if he was on any meds.... She said no, and I told her that he did not sound like himself, he was talking jibbirish and his speech was off. She sounded surprised and made the decision to send him home anyways. :furious:

Thankfully, my brother's foster mom was in the area and was able to give him a ride home. She stopped to get him some dinner, and brought him home. She was getting him settled in his house, when he stood up and tried to walk again, he fell and hit his head. It was then that she noticed his whole left side was not acting right. :(

She called her husband to help her take my dad back to the hospital. Meanwhile, I called the nurse back - and she had the nerve to tell me, if we brought my dad back to the hospital for "no reason" after he was discharged, we would be responsible for 20% of the bill. I was so, so mad. He should not have been discharged in the first place. My brother's foster parents had to call the ambulance a second time, because they couldn't get my dad back out to the car.

By then, I was packed and on my way up. Normally a 3.5-4 hour drive... I made it in just over 2 hours. I wasn't speeding, but the traffic Gods were with me.

When I got here, he was just returning from another CT scan, and it was not good. My dad was not making any sense, and talking jibbirish, you could see how weak he was. I was here in the ER for 2 hours before anyone came to talk to me... I was not a happy girl. Finally the Dr. came... and I made him do some tests on my Dad's left side. It was then that they started taking things more seriously. They admitted him immediately, and ordered a bunch of tests, also called in a neurologist specializing in strokes.

They performed a MRI, Spinal tap, eeg, blood work... And I can't remember what (if anything) else. But the MRI showed that he did NOT have a stroke. Praise the Lord! So the neurologist that I liked stepped aside.

With the results from all of the tests, they are treating him for menengitis. I do not believe this is a correct diagnosis though. They started off treating him for menengitis as a precaution - but he only has 2 of the typical symptoms of it. He has more symptoms for encephalitis (which scares me, because that is what my mom had)... He also has syptoms of other things... So many symptoms, but nothing adds up to anything. I am so exasperated.

Beyond that, whatever they are doing for him is making him better. Whatever he has, the meds they are using are working. He has been on several IV antibiotics while he has been here, and he is back to his normal self now. He is just tired and weak. But his personality is back and his humor is back... And I am soooo happy and relieved.

As for me... I am here. It's no fun living in a hospital - that's for sure. Thankfully, my brother's foster parents have offered me their house, so after 2 nights of sleeping on a pull out chair, I plan to sleep (and shower) at their house tonight. I went from lunch on Sunday to dinner yesterday, with only a yogert, an apple and a cheese stick... I was finally able to get out last night for a while to get some food. My body was much happier after that.

We do not know the next step. My dad is doing remarkably well. However, we do know that he cannot go home to his house, he will need to go into some sort of nursing care, as it sounds like he will be discharged with a wheelchair and an IV. Thankfully - we had already been working on getting him into assisted living apartments... So, we have a few ducks in a row and a few wheels turning already. We should easily be able to get him into a nursing home, and then transition him back into an assisted living apartment. I plan on going on another tour today.

On another sort-of related note. It's nice to be "home"... The hospital that my dad is in, is 4 blocks from our old house... It is also the hospital my girls were born in. So, it feels good to be in a hospital and neighborhood that I am very familiar with.

I do not know how much longer I will be here with him. As of yesterday, the Dr. was saying it would be a few more days until he is discharged. But he is doing so well, I think he could be discharged earlier, IF I had my ducks in a row and had a place for him to go that is safe. So, I really think his discharge will hinge on me... And I am a bit clueless here... :sad2:

Anyways... Thank you so much - to all of you, for all of your good thoughts and prayers. I was able to log in yesterday for a few minutes here and there, and it was so heartwarming to see you all here. Thank you!

As always, my continued prayers go out to all in need. :wizard:
