~ Sew Sweet 16 ~I’m packing your angry eyes just in case~Aug 2014~ BFF' bag 8/20!!!!

I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see what Gus need to discuss!!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed to what your auction bags are! The tween size bag sounds super cute too! Dd has been keeping me so busy with her first musical and her dance stuff, sorry I haven't posted in a while! Your updates are the highlight of my day!

Hope all is well!

I am so happy that you were happy with the small bag you made.

I hope you get all you want done this weekend with your auction stuff.

Oh my...I wonder what Gus wants to talk to you about?

I'm quite interested in you're little bag. I have a tiny crossbody that I love, but it's just a smidgeon too small, so being who I am...I'm thinking about improving on it and your bags are very inspiring (even though your UPB is a wee bit big for my taste)

I am having a day at work and reading your PTR, with everyone's comments, is like a vacation. Thanks!

I'll say this about exercising: I've rediscovered muscles that I forgot about. But I am enjoying it, although the cat tried to "help" this morning and got kicked in the face. She's tough, though, so don't worry about her.

Good Sewing!

Welcome Lissette! I love your Disname! Thanks so much for the compliments - I am glad you are enjoying my PTR. Do you know where you are staying yet? And what your dates are? I'd love to hear about it if you have the time. :lovestruc

Thank you! Everything is up in the air at this point as we are going through a rough time (long story short, my husband was diagnosed with colon cancer back in November and he's finishing up six months of chemo in May... We are hoping for good news after his next scan... This was a total shock! He's only 37.)

Anyhow, he really wants to do a Disney trip if all is clear sometime around September or October (free dining and we have no kids! LOL). I'm the planner of the family so my top choices are AKL, BC, and POFQ/POR. We usually stay at the All Stars but want to try something new next time! My family in FL will probably join us for a few days (we are looking at 8 days or so), too, so I'm hoping this trip will happen! We need it badly!

A little bit about us, we live in the NYC area and I'm originally from Miami so I've been to Disney World, like, 25+ times! DH is from Northern NJ and loves it as well so we've been every other year since we met in 2005! We love traveling but always have to get our regular Disney fix. :wizard:

Ok, I'll cut this short - I feel like I hijacked your thread! Can't wait to read more about your trip and see more bags!

Lissette

I agree! My day went fantastic yesterday! I was able to get sooo much done. I hope to get just as much done today too! :woohoo:

I hope your day went as you were hoping it would!! Can't wait to see all your auction items. The smaller bag sounds like something Sarah could carry!! She really wants her own bag to carry when we go to WDW but I may start her off on something really cheap so if she loses it no big deal. :rotfl2: Then we can work our way up to one of yours.

"To Talk". I wonder what that could be about.

How great that you got so much done in your sewing room. I hope today goes as well as yesterday

I know - I was so happy about it! Yesterday was just as good. :thumbsup2

Hi Carrie! It's always nice to meet a fellow Pluto fan!

D~ LOL at getting us mixed up but reading Carrie's post, it could have been me writing it! I am going in October with Mom but we aren't doing MNSSHP. Considering Mom is not a fan of Character meets, parades or fireworks, it didn't seem worth the cost for her.

Sorry to worry you, I have been reading really quickly once in a while but haven't had much time to post. Work has been kicking my butt lately but I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I think by the end of this week, things should slow down. I shouldn't even have been updating my own TRs but I really wanted to get the October one finished before I went on my next trip! 8 days to go!

Oh good... Here I thought I was losing it - I am so relieved that you also see the similarity in your Disnames/upcoming trips. Phew!

I know you have been busy - I totally understand... 7 more days to go!!!!!! :woohoo:

I can't wait to see all the auctions bags you make. Every time I hear you talking about your bags, it makes me want to go and use my sewing machine. Last time I was in joannes getting a crochet hook, i picked up a few zippers that were on clearance to play with. Need to see if I have fabric to try to make something.

Awesome! Great idea to grab some clearance zippers to practice with. :thumbsup2 You will do great - I just know it!

Sounds like you made excellent progress yesterday. And a new bag design!!!

I had high hopes of being able to work in my sewing room this week, but that was not to be. I am finally starting to feel better, but I think I need to cancel my trip to Atlanta for the national conference. I just know that I am not up for pace of the conference. Heck, I can barely walk up the stairs at home. Also still cannot sleep laying down. I go back to the doctor tomorrow for a follow up and they said I should feel better afterwards. I sure hope so.

I decided I'm going to give Charlie the Africa Safari Trek for his birthday. He has been so patient with me this week and its something he would like. I'm hoping I can get a good discount with dvc.

Brief note on Kat. She had a contrast test? one day this week (I can't remember which day) and all results were positive. This is good news for her surgery on May 6.

I did make great progress - and yesterday too! Very pleased with myself.

I am glad you are starting to feel better - bummer about the conference in Atlanta though... Hopefully the Dr. will be able to get you back to normal quickly.

Charlie will LOVE that!!! How exciting!

Glad to hear that Kat is doing well, thanks so much for the update - she continues to be in our prayers. :flower3:

What awesome progess on your auction bags! 4 bags this week would be quite an accomplishment, I think. Question about your auction - do you post all the bags at one time or do you do them one at a time?

I am quite proud of giving up diet soda, as I really didn't think I'd be able to do it. I didn't get my run in yesterday - I try to head up to the gym at the office at 4, but something came up right before 4 that kept me tied up until about 4:30. It worked out for the best though, as something came up at 4:40 that kept me at work until 6 and I wouldn't have been able to finish it if I was at home. As of now, my calendar is clear for a run at 4. I think I may look for a yoga program I can do at home in the mornings. If I could get that done at 5am a few days a week, I wouldn't feel so bad on the days I couldn't run. Also, yoga seems suited to that hour of the morning and if I were able to get a run in later in the day, I think I'd still feel up to it. It's a possibility, but first I need to start getting up at 5 again!

I hope you'll be able to share what Gus talks to you guys about at dinner, I'm am so curious as to what he has to say.

Hope you have a very productive day again today! Have you ever thought about quiliting and assembling several bags and then doing appliques back to back? Not sure if that would work, but then you could get the tedious part out of the way and just have the part you most enjoy left to do.

Last time - I tried to post them with 5 minutes in between, but it was quite confusing for me... I think, this time, I will post them in blocks of time, or something to that effect... Otherwise they are just too hard for me to manage.

I have tried yoga before - it's not a pretty sight. LOL And there is NO way I could do it at 5 am - so kudos to you. :thumbsup2 It's great that you have a plan!

I am not sure how much I will share of Gus' conversation? I will try to share something, as to not leave you all hanging... but it will probably be vague, as to respect Alli and Gus' privacy. :lovestruc

I have thought of doing that, however - that's as far as that process went. LOL The only reason I get the quilting done, is that I look forward to the applique, and it takes me so many hours to quilt one bag, I am ready to applique after that. :thumbsup2

I am with the previous poster...inquiring minds will want to know what Gus has to talk to you about!

I know... I will do the best I can. But it will probably be a bit vague - I certainly don't want to over step my bounds and make their relationship more "public" than they don't even know that it is. Does that make sense? :confused3

I am a bit anxious about it too... We will see tonight.

I am very excited about them... Yes, I am excited about the tween bag - it's nothing spectacular, it's quite plain, actually - but it will serve the purpose.

Aww... What is her first musical? I miss that sort of thing - I always enjoyed them immensely - but sadly, the girls no longer participate in any of those activities.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are well too! :thumbsup2

I am so happy that you were happy with the small bag you made.

I hope you get all you want done this weekend with your auction stuff.

Oh my...I wonder what Gus wants to talk to you about?

Thanks Kathy! Yes, I hope I am able to get lots more done this weekend! I know that Josh is working on Saturday - which means, I have permission to work all day - which will help.

I am very curious too... Alli knows, but he's asked her not to say anything to me - he wants to say it. So, we'll find out tonight, I guess. :scratchin

I'm quite interested in you're little bag. I have a tiny crossbody that I love, but it's just a smidgeon too small, so being who I am...I'm thinking about improving on it and your bags are very inspiring (even though your UPB is a wee bit big for my taste)

Good Sewing!

Well, I hope this one inspires you - but I doubt it will. Trust me, it's not very interesting - it's quite simple and plain... but I do prefer my bags to be that way, so the appliques can stand out. I guess that's why I like it so much. :thumbsup2

Hahaha... Glad I can give you a bit of a vacation at work... :beach: I hope your day got better.

LOL - remember when that happened to MM when I first started? I was working out, and he thought I was playing - wrapped his mouth around my foot when I wasn't looking and I stomped on it - which resulted in one of his teeth puncturing the bottom of my foot and ripping it open? Yah - fun times. If anything, that's a good omen though - right? :confused3 Hopefully the kitty is doing OK and you've resumed this morning.

Have a great weekend Ruth!

Thank you! Everything is up in the air at this point as we are going through a rough time (long story short, my husband was diagnosed with colon cancer back in November and he's finishing up six months of chemo in May... Lissette

Wow - that is so young! I am glad that his Dr.s caught it early enough though. Is he feeling pretty well? I will be praying for good news after chemo for all of you.

Oooh - of course, my vote is for POFQ, but that's just me. LOL It's so gorgeous there, and relaxing too. :thumbsup2 Sounds like it will be a great trip - no matter where you stay - with family there with you too.

That's so nice that your DH loves Disney too... My DH dislikes it a lot (that's putting it mildly) - So, sadly, once my girls go off to college - there will likely be no more Disney trips for me.

No worries - I am happy to talk Disney with anyone at any time. :thumbsup2 So happy to hear more about you and your trip. Please keep me updated about your DH and how your trip plans come together. :beach:

I hope your day went as you were hoping it would!! Can't wait to see all your auction items. The smaller bag sounds like something Sarah could carry!! She really wants her own bag to carry when we go to WDW but I may start her off on something really cheap so if she loses it no big deal. Then we can work our way up to one of yours.

"To Talk". I wonder what that could be about.

Me too... I am excited to see them finished! LOL Yah - I would definately use something cheaper for Sarah... Our first trip - the girls lost a backpack with their sunglasses in it... The backpack and the sunglassses were our favorites - and we never got them back. Still bums me out... LOL and it's been 11 years.

Yes, I am very curious, as well.

**********************************************************

I had another great sewing room day yesterday! I finished my 2nd big auction bag. I have my next one cut out and quilted. My back was so sore by the end of my day though - I was ready to quit.

I plan to lift this morning - as soon as I am done writing here.

Then, I hope to get up to my sewing room... I hope to get the applique for my next bag and my next little bag (doing them together - since they are the same theme) drawn and cut out before I have to leave today.

Alli has 2 Dr.s appointments today - we will be going to lunch in between. Afterwards, I have to run to Target to get a few groceries.

Tonight is our dinner with Gus... I am very intrigued about it. At the moment, technically, they are not together. Sigh... All of this "yo-yo" crap is driving me NUTS! <--- Alli too. So, I honestly have no idea what he wants to talk to ME about? :confused3 I should have been a little more specific in my comment about it yesterday... He wants to take "us" out for dinner - as in Allison and I... Not Josh, not V. :scratchin Depending on what the conversation is about - I may or may not be able to tell you about it - for all I know, it may have NOTHING to do with them, and it may be something else all together. I hope you all understand... As I have tried very hard to keep their relationship as private as I can. I will certainly let you all know how it goes though.

I hope you all have a wonderful weeekend! It looks like it might be a nice weekend here? I hope it is, anyways... I still have a front porch I need to clean off... Sigh. Sending out prayers and good thoughts to all of you! :grouphug:

D~

I hope you get to do the things you want in your sewing room today.
I hope the dinner with Gus goes ok.

Have a nice weekend :)

That's so nice that your DH loves Disney too... My DH dislikes it a lot (that's putting it mildly) - So, sadly, once my girls go off to college - there will likely be no more Disney trips for me.
That is what girls trips are for.

I hope you have a very productive day. Good luck at your dinner/talk with Gus and Allie.

If you are comfortable sharing, it will be great to hear what Gus has to say, but I definitely respect Alli's privacy as well as yours.

Glad you had another great sewing day! I am taking Charlotte to the doctor this afternoon for her ear re-check. If things are good, we should be able to take a break from worrying about her ears for awhile. Peyton's school has a carnival tonight, so we will be heading to that after the doctor. Tomorrow we are heading to Build A Bear for a treat for Peyton since she has maintained all A's so far this year, then we will be grocery shopping. Sunday will hopefully be swimming at my parents' house, if my mom is feeling up to it since she is dealing with strep throat right now. I am looking forward to a nice weekend with my family - next week will be my busy week at work again - although this month it feels like every week was my busy week :crazy2:

I am sure your girls will still want to go to Disney with you when they are in college. If not, I think you could find some volunteers around here to give you a chance to continue your trips. :thumbsup2

Does Josh not like anything about Disney? My DH is not the biggest fan but there are things he loves - World Showcase, some of the dining, and the resorts. He could pretty much pass on the rest of it but I try to make sure we hit all of his favorites to help him enjoy the trip as well. Of course, he also loves being there with the girls and watching how excited they get about all of it. Just wondering if there would be a way to tailor a vacation to what Josh likes so you could get him on board.

Hope you have a great day and a nice dinner. ;)

We will certainly understand if you need to keep private what Gus talks to you about.

I'm glad you got a lot accomplished in your sewing room and that you'll get some time up there this weekend.

We are supposed to have nice weather today (69 degrees) and almost 60 tomorrow with sun, but then rain for almost the entire week after that and back in the 50's.

Hi d I a. All caught up for now. I hope dinner with Gus goes well. I am swamped right now as we have a vendor sale for our necklaces on Sunday. Hopefully it goes well, at least better than our past sales have gone.
I plan to send you pics of your necklaces for approval next week. Next weekend is the big all day disney world scrap booking crop my mom and I put on. It will be our last crop event until next September. Our numbers of attendees are low which sucks for us as profits are going towards our fall trip. I'm in the same boat as you! Once that is over I have a ton of shirt orders to do and getting caught up on necklace orders. Must get a bunch done for little vs bday next month for her party guests.

I'm glad you've decided to stick with pofq! I hope the bags go easy for you this week.

Thanks, D! Yeah, they caught a small tumor in the intestines but they also saw some spots on the liver so his treatment has been aggressive but caught early on. He's been feeling pretty good so far (except for nausea recently) and his halfway scan went very well! I'll definitely keep you posted and I'm thinking of starting a PTR if we end up going! I'm just too nervous at this point to start any actual planning... Only daydreaming on the DIS for now!

I love POFQ! I stayed there in the 90s when it was just the Port Orleans and Riverside was Dixie Landings! Beautiful hotel. DH has only stayed off property and All Stars so we would like something a little less hectic! Oh, but it looks like I'll be adding Pop Century into the mix because of the Pac Man rooms - he LOVES classic video games and went nuts when we saw photos! LOL

Oh, don't worry! The girls will have vacations (long ones!) and probably more free time than they do now! You can always do trips with friends, too! All is not lost and Disney isn't going anywhere. ;)

Lissette

I swear, I step out for two minutes and I have five pages to catch up on. Will have to do that later, a wery late happy birthday to Alli and now I'm off to eat some cake for my own birthday today. Hope everyones having a good day!

Do we really want to know what's going on in the mind of teenage boys? Hmmmm?

Seriously, I hope it's just a "thank you for being a friend and teaching me that genetically modified wheat is bad" dinner.

Hurrah for an extra day in the sewing room! I need to fenagle some time at home without Cale and do some serious spring cleaning. Our cleaning styles are extremely different (he drives me nuts with his one handed sweeping, for example and I drive him nuts by actually going through things instead of just stacking whatever is there neatly and moving on)

Happy weekend all - I will be working (anyone in the B'ham, AL area is welcome to come schmooze at Weather Fest 2014)

I'm sure your just as anxious as we all are to see what new bags you've come up with. I'm going to keep my eye out for a small back pack or cross body bag for Sarah over the next couple weeks. I'd hate for her to lose anything but wouldn't feel as bad if it was something cheap. I'm still sad about the camera we lost a couple years ago. It had a picture of Jeremy and one of his classmates when he was in Pre-K (they are just as big of Disney lovers as we are). Thankfully the mom had taken one with her phone so she was able to forward it to me. It does make one sad when items go missing and never show up.

Hope things went well tonight with Gus and Allie.

This one made me laugh.

Hope dinner was good.

Trying to get back into things now that Spring Break is over for the kiddos.

So I get stuck on my subbed threads for prolonged periods of time, but somehow I ventured onto your TR today. I know I can't possibly ever catch up but I wanted to congratulate you on your weight loss journey! Strong work for sure! You look great!

And what an awesome trip you have planned!

And your bags are adorable and your sewing room is just too cute!

Beautiful professional photos at the start of your PTR!

I hope you get to do the things you want in your sewing room today.
I hope the dinner with Gus goes ok.

Have a nice weekend

THanks Lillian! I didn't get as much done in my sewing room as I wanted to - but I was able to finish more than I thought I would. :thumbsup2

Dinner with Gus went well, I will talk a little about it below.

That is what girls trips are for.

I hope you have a very productive day. Good luck at your dinner/talk with Gus and Allie.

LOL YOu are right.

Thanks, it did go well. I will talk a little bit about it below.

If you are comfortable sharing, it will be great to hear what Gus has to say, but I definitely respect Alli's privacy as well as yours.

I hope everything went well at the Dr. for Charlotte. Have fun at the carnival and B-A-B - Great job to Peyton for the straight A's. That's wonderful! Have a great weekend!
I am sure your girls will still want to go to Disney with you when they are in college. If not, I think you could find some volunteers around here to give you a chance to continue your trips. :thumbsup2

Josh does not mind Disney movies and things like that - most of the time he enjoys them. But due to is PTSD from Iraq, he has issues with traveling, in general and being in huge crowds of people. So, clearly - Disney is not a good place for him to be. So all of those issues on TOP of how much it costs... Well, the more we go - the less tolerant he is. I am quite certain this will be our very last Disney trip. :worried:

We will certainly understand if you need to keep private what Gus talks to you about.

I'm glad you got a lot accomplished in your sewing room and that you'll get some time up there this weekend.

Thanks Kathy - I know you all understand. I will talk a little bit about it below.

Yes, I am feeling much better that I've gotten so much done - there is still so much I want to do though.

We had a beautiful day here yesterday - I hope that today is just as nice.

Hi d I a. All caught up for now. I hope dinner with Gus goes well. I am swamped right now as we have a vendor sale for our necklaces on Sunday. Hopefully it goes well, at least better than our past sales have gone.

Good luck with your vendor sale and your crop - I hope you do well. :woohoo: Can't wait to see my necklace pictures next week! It's great to hear from you Erin! :lovestruc

Thanks, D! Yeah, they caught a small tumor in the intestines but they also saw some spots on the liver so his treatment has been aggressive but caught early on. It's good to hear that it was caught so early, and he has been feeling relatively well, considering.

Please let me know if you start a PTR, I'd love to try to follow along - however - lately, I've been so bad about it. More hours in my sewing room means less hours to Dis. :scratchin

LOL

Yes, FQ is our favorite! LOL - The Pac Man rooms sound like they would be a good fit for DH though. :thumbsup2

Oh, don't worry! The girls will have vacations (long ones!) and probably more free time than they do now! You can always do trips with friends, too! All is not lost and Disney isn't going anywhere.

Lissette

I hope so... Disney just won't be the same with out them.

I swear, I step out for two minutes and I have five pages to catch up on. Will have to do that later, a wery late happy birthday to Alli and now I'm off to eat some cake for my own birthday today. Hope everyones having a good day!

Sorry... I know my thread moves fast (but take heart, there are many faster ones out there :thumbsup2)... Thanks so much for Alli's birthday wishes, I will be sure to pass them along. Happy Birthday to you too - I hope you had a good one... THanks for stopping by - it's good to see you. :lovestruc

I am in the market and I just thought to ask you - what kind of camera does Alli use?

Oh boy... Make my brain work so early... It's a Nikon and I believe it's the D5200? I am pretty sure that's what it is.

Do we really want to know what's going on in the mind of teenage boys? Hmmmm?

Hahaha... Probably not.

Seriously, I hope it's just a "thank you for being a friend and teaching me that genetically modified wheat is bad" dinner.

OMG! You crack me up Ruth! It wasn't that, but you sure gave me a laugh this morning.

Yes, I will be up there most of the day today... We had a small issue here the other night - which I will talk about below. So, I will need to help Josh when he comes home from work today.

Good luck with Spring Cleaning... I hope to work on our porch at some point this weekend... And now our kitchen too... Sigh.

I'm sure your just as anxious as we all are to see what new bags you've come up with. I'm going to keep my eye out for a small back pack or cross body bag for Sarah over the next couple weeks. Hope things went well tonight with Gus and Allie.

Yes, I am just anxious to see them DONE. LOL I think that is a good idea, just something small to get her used to carrying something. Glad you were able to get a copy of that photo. Thanks, they did go well, I will talk a little about it below. Have a great weekend Sandra!

**********************************************************

Yesterday was quite crazy and hectic...

I worked for a little while in the morning...

Then I took Alli to one Dr. appointment.

Then we had Jimmy Johns for lunch. When I used to eat their bread, I never noticed how SALTY their meat is... Now that I eat their subs as an "unwich" (wrapped in lettuce), I can really taste the salt (read: processing) and I am not sure I like JJ's all that much anymore? I guess it's better than Chipotle down the street though...

Then we went to the next Dr. appointment... Alli has been having troubles with her knee - we thought is was from track. But the Dr. suspects it has something to do with developing arthritis due to her psoriasis (which is common)... So, they did x-rays (which look good) and bloodwork (again). We should have the bloodwork results early next week. She also ran a strep test on her, because she has been sick/exposed to strep for a few days.

Stopped at Target... Did a bit of grocery shopping. But Alli is sick and begged to go home to rest. So, I was quick there.

Came home, I was able to work for a couple more hours.

We met Gus for dinner. It was a good dinner. We talked about many things of great importance, and overall, I feel it went well. I believe he was truly sincere in everything he said to us. He wants to talk to Josh tonight, so he will be at our house for dinner. I don't want to go into it any more than that, and I know you all understand. :grouphug:

Alli and I came home to my kitchen ripped apart... Literally. The other night, Josh was washing a few dishes, and he went to turn our kitchen faucet from one sink to the other... and ripped it completely off. :faint: Sprayed down my entire kitchen... (spring cleaning at is best, right?)... So, yesterday, on his way home from work - he stopped to get a new faucet. He was replacing it as we left for dinner. When we got home a few hours later, Alli walked in the door ahead of me, and all I heard was "OH MY..." Uh-oh, I thought. Walked in, and he had my ENTIRE kitchen sink OUT of the counter top. Gulp. We have such hard water, I guess the sink and faucet are now one? Or at least the nut that holds it in place is... So, not only do I have tools/sink parts all over my kitchen... but everything that was in the cupboard under the sink is all over too... It's a mess! And Gus will be here for dinner! I am tempted to tell Alli to have him come in work clothes. ::yes:: We might need his manly help? :scratchin

I am headed up to my sewing room right this minute to begin work for today. Josh is working until 2pm, so that's all the time I have to work today... The sooner I get up there, the more I can get done. I hope to finish stitching the applique for the little bag and to get both bags assembled today. If things go well and I am very lucky - I might even get the next bag cut and possibly a jump start on quilting?

When he comes home, I will be helping him put our kitchen back together. At least he was able to turn the water back on last night for the rest of the house, so it could be worse.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend. Sending prayers and good thoughts to all of you! :grouphug:

D~

I'm glad to hear that the dinner with Gus went well.
I hope it isn't too difficult to get your kitchen back in working order.
