Sew much to do, sew little time - but it was worth it! New PTR link posted! ~~~~~~~~~

This is going to be a short one - considering that it rained the entire day, so I didn't take a lot of pictures.

D~

sorry Josh is still in so much pain....has he tried going to a massage therpist? I'm going once a month for my neck/migraines and is helping so much!

take care of that foot D~ hope you get all your errands finished up! funny about MM and his shots, just like a baby, the first year was filled with shots!

love the B/A photo's...I see someone peeking through the top hole in Canada!

I am so so sorry Josh is in such pain. It is hard to stand by when our loved ones are in pain.

Can't wait to see your total Launch package.

Thanks I love that fabric. I need to finish the orders I am working on before starting my launch outfit though I may cut it out this week.

Love the new before & after photo's.... especially the one with your head just making the top of the display:lmao:

Thanks Michelle. :) I have been following the launch - and Tom's dress sounds amazing! I haven't watched the video yet though. ACK!!! I thought it was June 4th????

D~

I just went and double checked... it is still the 5th:rotfl: But at least you will be done a day early right?

First of all, as of last night - Josh's back is worse than ever... He can barely walk most of the time, and occasionally has to crawl. I get so angry when he is like this - since the whole cause of it is military related - and I get so angry that he has to suffer so much. Not to mention - there is NOTHING I can do for him, I just have to sit here an watch him work through the pain - and it is very painful for him. He has not been up yet this morning, so I don't know if he loosened up during the night, or not. I am pretty sure he won't be going to work today either - if he does - I would be awfully surprised... Since his back is usually very touchy after an episode, so he has to be very careful not to do anything at all to set it off. The sad part - what initiated this episode... He was getting dressed for work yesterday... Getting dressed! It seems like, as time goes on, it smaller and smaller things that set it off.

MY foot seems to be getting better. I went on two short and easy walks yesterday. The second walk - I was in my flip-flops... Which - believe it or not - because of the arch support in them, takes the pressure off of my cut. But last night - it was not the best decision to go walking in them, because this morning my foot is killing me. I need to take the bandage off shortly and soak it and redress it. Hopefully that helps.
D~

Sorry to hear about Josh. Dh has always suffered from back aches (it seems he was born with muscles too tight----> that's my unofficial diagnosis:confused3) and pulled his back out making the bed one day:headache:

Probably d/c for discontinue? Just a guess!

That makes sense, thanks.

You'll have to forgive Cheryl. We just all try to tell her she's brilliant.

Thank you. I'm humbled.

This visual left me with nightmares last night....

Well then, I guess my job here is done.

:moped:

You are brilliant Cheryl... :wizard:

You think so too????

Hope today has seen some improvement.

How is Josh doing today? I think I may have figured out a way to solve his problem -- he needs to start going to work in his PJ's :rotfl: Don't tell him I said that though. He will either laugh (if he's the kind of guy that likes to joke around) or he will want to kill me and he looks bigger than me so I'm a little afraid.

In all seriousness I hope he feels better. I'm a bit puzzled too as I would have thought his shoulder surgery would be tied to back pain and he wouldn't throw his back out so easily after having had surgery recently. I hope he's well enough to make it to the lake with MM. Driving and back problems are not a good mix. I hope the lake isn't far. With over 10,000 of them I hope you picked a close one for your home away from home.

And hope your foot is doing well. Is it your sewing foot (you know, the one you use for the pedal -- not a foot from your machine)? I know you are a lefty but I assume you're right footed.

Must go, my dog that just barfed 4 times is barking and I want her outside if she needs to barf some more -- she was a sweetie and did it all on the screened in porch and outside -- makes clean up sooooo much easier.

Love the before and now pictures!!

Thanks Tink!

No, he hasn't tried a massage theripist, I can't remember what he has in his back now... but it is something about a degenerative disc and a pinched nerve... I can't remember - but it's something that a massage theripist would't be able to help - it's not muscular, I guess is what I am saying. LOL

Thanks - I did end up bringing Josh with me to run my errands, he wanted to go to his barber and get his hair cut... So, walking through the grocery store, with Josh's back spasming was a great adventure... basically, I'd have to stand there and hold the cart to keep it from rolling out from under him - while he's swearing as softly as he can... We were quite the pair yesterday - with my limping foot n' all. LOL

I am so so sorry Josh is in such pain. It is hard to stand by when our loved ones are in pain.

Can't wait to see your total Launch package.

Thanks I love that fabric. I need to finish the orders I am working on before starting my launch outfit though I may cut it out this week.

I know - I can't wait to see it either. I am having issues coming up with something to put on the zip wallet... I thought I knew what I wanted, and then when I started drawing it out yesterday, it just wansn't coming together right - so I trashed it. I have another idea - hopefully it works. :confused3

Love the new before & after photo's.... especially the one with your head just making the top of the display:lmao:

I am glad you double checked - there are people over there that are specifically saying the 4th too though... I saw a post yesterday that said that - so I went and double checked - officially it's the 5th. Phew... I wouldn't be surprised if some people posted on the 4th though, because I swear that's how the poll was set up.

Back pain is no fun at all.

That makes sense, thanks.
Thank you. I'm humbled.
Well then, I guess my job here is done.
You think so too????
Hope today has seen some improvement.

Cheryl - you crack me up.... :rotfl2:

How is Josh doing today? I think I may have figured out a way to solve his problem -- he needs to start going to work in his PJ's :rotfl: Don't tell him I said that though. He will either laugh (if he's the kind of guy that likes to joke around) or he will want to kill me and he looks bigger than me so I'm a little afraid.

Josh had a rough day yesterday... He did go with me to town - which was quite comical. He desperately wanted to get his hair cut, so I dropped him off at his barber... and I went down town to kill some time in the Antique stores - which weren't open yet. So, after surfing the web on my phone for about 15 min - I texted Josh that I was gonna be in the parking lot behind the barber. So, I drove over there and parked. About 10 minutes later, I get a text from Josh - saying that he was at the coffee shop downtown... Grrr - he walked all the way from the barber to the coffee shop (about 6 blocks)... So, I drove all the way back downtown to pick him up - I was so mad, because what if his back would have gone out while he was walking? He said he just wanted to walk and loosen it up. So, then we hit the grocery store... and his back spasmed twice - so I had to hold the cart so that it didn't roll away - while he swore as quietly as he good (we got a lot of stares)... Poor guy. But we survived and came home. His back started to loosen up a little bit around dinner time. I hope it continues to do so this weekend.

Actually - his neck surgery had nothing to do with his back... Totally seperate injury, and they are not sure if they will ever be able to fix his back. Another case of "if they would have treated it right in the first place, it wouldn't have gotten so bad by now"... Gotta love the VA.

The lake is a 4 hour drive each way. At about the 2 - 2.5 hour mark, we go through my home town - so we have lots of family in that area... Then, if he needs to stop - there's lots of places for him to do that.

And hope your foot is doing well. Is it your sewing foot (you know, the one you use for the pedal -- not a foot from your machine)? I know you are a lefty but I assume you're right footed.

I am amazed at how perceptive you are Andrea... You are right - I am left handed, but right footed. And FYI - it is my right foot. Unfortunately, where MM got me is right on the ball of my foot (dont know what else to call it) - right below my last 3 toes. And my sewing machine foot (which I love - all of our sewing machine feet are this type) is one of the older styles:

$(KGrHqZ,!q!E9eCLOfQDBPdQL8L1d!~~60_57.JPG

And how you use this type of pedal, is you rest the outer edge of the ball of your foot on the stationary button, then use the inner edge of the ball of your foot to activate the power... so basically, you rotate your foot from side to side - vs. up and down like you would do on most of the pedals now a days.

The point to this long story - is where MM cut me, is right where I need to rest my foot on the stationary part of the pedal - so, yes - that does make sewing a bit difficult. But I've been able to manage.

Must go, my dog that just barfed 4 times is barking and I want her outside if she needs to barf some more -- she was a sweetie and did it all on the screened in porch and outside -- makes clean up sooooo much easier.

Awww... I hope your puppy is feeling better today.

I plan to do an update later... Day 8... And I also plan to work in my sewing room for a little while. I'd like to finish my zippered wallet for the Launch, and V needs some help with assembling the UPB for her Godmother.

Then, Josh wants us to go down to the community garden to get some of our veggies planted - ahem - which means, he is supervising and we are planting... Which - I am not sure how that is going to work, since I can't wear real shoes yet... :confused3

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. :3dglasses

As far as the launch goes...it will always be on a Tuesday night; ending on a Wednesday night.... My personal deadline is always a week prior...that way I can get the pictures done and 'edited' (LOL) and the copy written....

you two need to rest up the weekend as much as possible
sorry Josh's back is so bad that massage wouldn't help...my daddy's back was broken in WW11 and he finally had surgery to fix his disc's etc in the 80's, finally got to him ...was a complete success though!

Ugh. Had a nice long post and just lost it.:badpc: lets see what I can remember.

Belated bday wishes for V. Can't wait to see the bag she is working on. My oldest will be 13 in 10 days.

Hope you and Josh continue to improve quickly.pixiedust: I had some back issues on my trip but mine is all muscular and I'm sure mostly stress related and partially sewing related. Emma isn't into too many thrill rides but I did a couple at Legoland with my friend and a couple of the jerks took my breath away.

Love the sneak peek of your launch bag. I may have to break down and join Facebook.

LOVE your Tigger UPB!!! It is just perfect for Vicki! She will have so much fun wearing it!

Emma and I had a great trip but it flew by way too fast. We are both exhausted today. I was able to do the silhouette. PM me your address and I'll get it in the mail.

Thanks for letting me know. I still find the whole listing process a little confusing. I did see that the new template was posted - so I am sure once I read through the HTML document, I will understand exactly what to do. :thumbsup2

I am glad that you dad was able to have surgery to have his back fixed so that he was able to enjoy the later years of his life. :lovestruc

I've been trying to post them here too... Which reminds me, I forgot to post the sneak peek from yesterday...

The girls and I had a good day yesterday...

After discussing Josh's plans for today, the girls and I decided to go shopping yesterday morning, because Josh is taking MM and the Edge to the lake today - so I get the truck for the next 2 days... I hate driving the truck - but the Edge is much better on gas - and he doesn't have to haul anything while he is up there - so it works better for him to take it.

The girls and I found a couple of neat things while we were shopping...

D~ splurged on an outfit in the next size down... Not sure when I'll have the courage to try it on though...

Allison got a new pair of shorts and shoes for formal which takes place this friday. I refuse to spend a rediculous amount of $ on an 8th grade formal... I found her dress on clearance at Maurices in January for $7 and her shoes were less than $10 at Kohls (I had a coupon)... So, I can handle that.

Then we headed over to Bed Bath and Beyond, I needed to find a lid for the Tervis Tumbler Marianne found for me on sale at hers...

DSNY-I-16-DOBO.jpg

And while we were there, the girls and I found the most adorable smaller Tervis Tumbler - I just HAD to have it... Not only did it feature my favorite guy, but it also had my favorite team...

pMLB2-8365245dt.jpg

And this is the next one I'd like to get... I am not a huge baseball fan - or sports fan - for that matter... but if I was ever a fan of any team, it would be the MN Twins. Part of the reason I enjoy them so much, is that Josh's grandfather designed one of their logos... And Tervis put it in one of their tumblers - unfortunately, I can't find a photo of the tumbler with the logo in it - but here's the logo at the new Target Field:

IMG_0358-e1271369023562-768x1024.jpg

OK - enough about Tervis Tumblers... I love using them though.

Hmmm... Oh yah... the girls also went to Barnes and Noble to get a few books with their birthday gift cards from Grandma and Grandpa.

Then we had lunch at Jimmy Johns.... NUM!

And then we went to Target to get a few groceries.

We headed home, to work on planting our portion of the Community Garden: Us and 3 other families in our town rented a half acre of land from one of our neighbor's fields, where we divided it in half - to raise sweet corn and pumpkins... The proceeds for that will go into our garden fund for next year. Then the other half was divided into 4 equal parts, for each of us to have an individual garden. So, we got that planted yesterday... I have the worst brown thumb ever - so this is mostly Josh and the girls' project.

Then we came back home and Josh tilled our garden - which I was NOT happy about... Tilling is a very hard job, and he should NOT have been doing that considering he couldn't walk with his back 2 days ago. He is still walking crooked today - and I am just irritated that he did that...

While we were at the garden, my neighbor friends and I decided to have an BYO ABC party in her driveway last night (BYO ABC = Bring Your Own Alcohol/Butt/Chairs). I only had one drink... I don't like to drink very much in the first place - and I feel like I've been doing a lot of it lately.

And today... we have reservations for breakfast at our local bar/restaurant. They put on a very good Mother's Day brunch. :lovestruc

Today - I will make it into my sewing room. And I will get an update done - I just finished uploading pictures. :goodvibes

:lovestruc Happy Mother's day to all the wonderful Moms here on The Dis! :lovestruc

D~

Happy Mother's Day!

I think Josh needs a good reprimanding to behave himself! He should not be tilling gardens. Than again, I might trade you -- dh didn't come swimming with us yesterday b/c he was supposed to clean the garage and plant his tomatoes (mine are already planted).

Let's see, garage isn't clean, tomatoes are not planted, but he did pull a bucket of weeds! I came home to find him asleep on the hammock!

And even though it's MD I have to clean the house today. We are having an overnight guest on Mon and Tues (a friend of dh's) -- I work most of the week so I need to clean today. But on the bright side I dh will have to cook b/c I work until 7:30pm M-T-W. Bet you anything they all go out to dinner both nights!

sounds like a wonderful day with your girls!

I have a bad back . . . and when it was at its worst, I had 8 vertebrae that were tipped out of alignment . . . and even though THAT couldn't be helped by a massage therapist, the muscle spasms and knots COULD . . .which meant my back was loose enough for physical therapy to get my discs back in the right positions. Anyway, I feel horrible that poor Josh's back is so bad. I know what it's like to move wrong and put your back out.

Now, about that pedal. I have one that looks the same! It was definitely weird to get used to and can cause my foot to go nuts from time to time. I hope your foot is better soon!

I hope all of you moms have a wonderful Mother's Day! I need to change out of my dress I wore to church and get to cleaning. The house is a disaster and the boys & I leave for RI in 12 days ::yes:: and I haven't packed a thing. I can't begin to do that until I get the place clean, so . . .:rolleyes2

Happy Mothers Day, I hope you got to enjoy your brunch and get lots of sewing time today!

I hope you're having a great Mothers Day D!! I've been playing with my new toy from my own mom - I'll have to post a picture when I get a chance, it's a vintage Singer (and it's blue!). I may need some advice :)

Well, - I had a very lazy day at home yesterday. I am not sure what was going on - but I had no ambition to do anything. I even called down to the bar/restaurant and cancelled our reservation, I just wasn't up to it. Turns out, last night - my minor sore/annoying throat moved into my chest and nose, so I have a nice cold. Grrr... No pain - just annoying, so far anyways.

Josh and Victoria got the rest of our garden planted, and he put some pots on the deck for me. Unfortunately, because of MM - they all had to be screwed to the railing, so he didn't dig in them. Oh well - at least we'll have a few flowers and herbs out there this year.

Josh and MM drove the 4 hours to the lake yesterday afternoon. At about the 3 hour mark (after sleeping the entire trip - yay), MM woke up and made it known that it was TIME to go outside. LOL So, Josh had to coax him to wait about 10 miles, until he could get off the interstate. Josh said they made it in time. :cool1: MM was also afraid of the water. I can't blame him- our lake is one of the biggest lakes in MN - I know it's in the top 10 for size, but it's even possible it's in the top 5? So, it's probably like an ocean to the little guy. After much coaxing, Josh was finally able to get him in to retreive his dummy. I sent the good camera with Josh - so he better come back with tons of pictures of MM at the lake. I was so upset that I had to miss these moments - because the first trip to the lake is always so memorable.

I go back to work today. My foot is still a bit iffy, but I will have to deal with it. Unfortunately, my whole right leg is a bit weird from walking strangely over the last few days. Hopefully, I can start walking normally again soon.

I have big plans to do an update this morning before I leave for work... I feel like it has been so long and I just want to get it done.

I hope all of my Dis friends had a wonderful Mother's day... I am sorry that I didn't make it around to everyone's threads...

Tuesday, March 13th...

The girls and I woke early. I ran down to the foodcourt and grabbed a breakfast of beignets, and refilled our mugs - we ate everything in our room. This was very convenient for us, and worked out well.

We were on the bus to AK by 7:15AM. The park opened at 8 this particular morning.

The girls waiting for the park to open:

IMG_4161.jpg
IMG_4162.jpg

We were right at the front of the pack, literally touching the rope...

IMG_4160.jpg

I was kind of surprised to see the crowd of people behind us... ACK! (Yes, that's me with my mug LOL)

IMG_4163.jpg

We decided that since Alli and I had to use the bathroom, V would be our fast pass runner, because she is really good at sneaking through crowds of people. She knows her way around AK quite well, and they lead you back to EE anyways with a rope.

We were quite proud of her, she ditched us right away to follow the rope - and she stayed on the rope the entire time - right at the front! I tried to take a few pictures, but I don't even see her in these - she is way up there!

IMG_4169.jpg

Allison and I couldn't wait any longer, so we stopped on the way to EE to hit the bathroom, and then we caught up with V - who had FPs in hand! WTG V!

IMG_4170.jpg
IMG_4171.jpg

We decided to get in line for the stand-by que, officially we were second in line for the day. :goodvibes However, we were informed that EE was having "technical difficulties", and they weren't sure when it would open for the day. Grrr... Figures that it would be down the one morning that we actually did good in the FP run. LOL We waited in the Stand-by que, and after watching several others leave in favor of other rides, we started talking about abandoning our post, as well.

IMG_4172.jpg

Finally, at 8:30 - we gave up and left for KS...

Good-bye lovely mountain... Hopefully we'll get to ride you today...

IMG_4173.jpg

IMG_4176.jpg

I am kind of glad we left in favor of KS. I figured that line would be really long, because of EE being down, but it was almost walk-on.

IMG_4177.jpg

And doing the Safari this early in the morning is actually a good thing - there are animals there! GULP! We've ridden this ride before, but always in the afternoon, and we've rarely seen any animals... So, we were pleasantly surprised that there are, in fact, animals on this ride. And I took so many pictures of all of them... Sorry....

Once we finished on KS, we headed back to use our FPs for EE (which was finally open - and the stand-by line was quite long from all the people waiting). We rode with our FPs, and then chose to ride single-rider 2 more times (V did 5 more - GULP).

On our way to our Tusker House lunch reservation, we stopped for a few Photopass pictures.

So, did we enjoy lunch at TH? Was it everything we were looking forward to?
