Sew much to do, sew little time - but it was worth it! New PTR link posted! ~~~~~~~~~

What a shame that EE was down when you were almost first in line. You got great photos of the Animals on the Safari ride :goodvibes

I wanted to do a quick MM and IRL update...

First of all - I wanted to show you our personal garden. This is the one that's in our yard. It will be a "salad garden". We planted Victoria's tomato plants that she grew from seed in her botony class, also her green peppers and a jalepeno plant. Then we planted our first row of lettuce... We plan to plan 2 more rows in about 3-4 week intervals. We also have rhubarb and strawberries in this garden.

IMG_5215.jpg

I do not have pictures of the community garden yet... The girls and I might walk over there tonight and snap a couple, also check on what we planted on Saturday.

Then after Josh and V planted our salad garden yesterday... V was playing with MM in the yard - so I snapped a couple of pictures of them...

Hope your cold doesn't get worse. It's amazing how much work interfers with life, isn't it?

Hooray for doing a garden. I tried cherry tomatoes on the deck -- but they needed constant watering. Last year I tried a couple full size tomato plants in the ground, but it was still a pain in the neck to water. (As I read this, I'm thinking I may have a few lazy genes in me). I think you have the right idea, to 'go big or not at all'.

Happy Monday everyone! :thumbsup2

D~

I hope your garden comes up soon so you can give V some good food.

sounds like a great start to your AK day.
love the KS, I could ride it over and over, love the giraffes pictures

Off to a good start on your AK day. So sorry you were sick for Mother's Day. We had a great Mother's Day weekend.

You are blessed to have Josh to plant things for you. I wish we could have a garden...I am like you- I cannot grow things. Unfortunately, DH is not so keen on outdoor stuff, so we don't grow stuff at our house...and we live on 5 acres! :scared1:

yay for getting to see so many animals on KS...bummer about EE being down, but looks like you made up for it later on!

hope you feel better soon!

cute photos of V and MM and the garden! hope you get a good crop!

Very quick drive by post b/c I have to get ready for work.....

Love the Ak photos! I really like seeing all the animals so you can't post too many photos as far as I'm concerned. Boo Hiss on EE having technical difficulties when you had such a good place in line! I only rode it once, at night, by myself. I would like to ride in in the day. I'd like to spend more time at AK -- the kids spent too much time in the sand the evening we were there and the day we were there it started to rain (pour) and of course it was the only day I didn't pack the ponchos since rain wasn't in the forecast.

Love your garden and yard -- I love seeing green grass!!! Ours is green since it's spring, but even with a sprinkler system it gets nasty in July and Aug from all the heat. Your yard looks really big too. You always mention your small house/rooms so I figured you had a tiny yard. It looks really big in the pics!

All righty -- must run and change out my nice clothes into yucky work clothes. Adios!

Great pics of V and MM playing  He just looks like a big ball of energy. And the garden looks great so far. We won't be planting up here for another 3 weeks or so. Hubby takes care of all that because I kill anything I touch. I seriously killed a fake plant once....yep, thats absolutely true. It was green, it turned brown.

Bummer about EE being down. We rode the safari first thing on our AK day and all the animals were out and about. I heard they were taking out the whole "poacher" act to make room for more Zebras. Not sure I like that idea. The whole story line was what made it fun and not just a Jeep riding around the safari. Oh well. I'm sure it will still be Disney-ish.

I have that Tervis tumbler too! It's identical, except mine is the St. Louis Cardinals! :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear that your hurt foot is also your "sewing foot." It's good that you had your tetanus shot already, though - my last booster was over 11 years ago but I just can't quite get myself to go get it....

I'm always interested to see who takes their mugs to the park with them. I have never done it, but I know that people do it! My purse is far too tiny to fit one of those, and I just will NOT wear a backpack or a bigger purse. I've always really liked your ultimate park bag, but it's way too big for me; the only think in it would be the mug. :)

I still have not ridden KS. I've only been to AK twice, though; maybe I'll get there this September.

I really wish we could have a garden; I'd love to have some berries growing! We're in a condo, though and there are strict rules on outside gardens. Will be looking forward to more pics of your garden, as it grows!

Thanks! I will let her know. Happy Birthday to your oldest, as well. :lovestruc

Thank you. I am glad you survived the trip though - I can't imagine having a bad back and walking that much on top of rides that could possibly throw it out.

I've been trying to post them here too... Which reminds me, I forgot to post the sneak peek from yesterday...

Then we headed over to Bed Bath and Beyond, I needed to find a lid for the Tervis Tumbler Marianne found for me on sale at hers...

DSNY-I-16-DOBO.jpg

And while we were there, the girls and I found the most adorable smaller Tervis Tumbler - I just HAD to have it... Not only did it feature my favorite guy, but it also had my favorite team...

pMLB2-8365245dt.jpg

And this is the next one I'd like to get... I am not a huge baseball fan - or sports fan - for that matter... but if I was ever a fan of any team, it would be the MN Twins. Part of the reason I enjoy them so much, is that Josh's grandfather designed one of their logos... And Tervis put it in one of their tumblers - unfortunately, I can't find a photo of the tumbler with the logo in it - but here's the logo at the new Target Field:

OK - enough about Tervis Tumblers... I love using them though.

We headed home, to work on planting our portion of the Community Garden: Us and 3 other families in our town rented a half acre of land from one of our neighbor's fields, where we divided it in half - to raise sweet corn and pumpkins... The proceeds for that will go into our garden fund for next year. Then the other half was divided into 4 equal parts, for each of us to have an individual garden. So, we got that planted yesterday... I have the worst brown thumb ever - so this is mostly Josh and the girls' project.

Then we came back home and Josh tilled our garden - which I was NOT happy about... Tilling is a very hard job, and he should NOT have been doing that considering he couldn't walk with his back 2 days ago. He is still walking crooked today - and I am just irritated that he did that...

While we were at the garden, my neighbor friends and I decided to have an BYO ABC party in her driveway last night (BYO ABC = Bring Your Own Alcohol/Butt/Chairs). I only had one drink... I don't like to drink very much in the first place - and I feel like I've been doing a lot of it lately.

:lovestruc Happy Mother's day to all the wonderful Moms here on The Dis! :lovestruc

Thanks for the bday wishes for my oldest. I sort of feel like I should do something "special" for her 13th but not sure what to do. She wants an iTouch but I have one from before I had my iPhone and an iPad that she can use for travel and at home. I really don't want her on one too much. She has a Nano. I was thinking of maybe a nice-ish piece of jewelry (under $50). I saw a nice sterling Pooh necklace charm I might order. I did get her (for free from a friend who got them from a neighbor who is putting on an addition and wants to get on her good side ....) a ticket to see the Red Sox when we are in CA this summer. I almost bought her that Tervis tumbler in Red Sox at DTD when I was at Disney. Maybe I'll look for it at Bed Bath & Beyond and get her a Red Sox T. I saw on the Tervis sight they have water bottles too. Wonder if that would be better than a tumbler?

My back wasn't bad walking around just on jerky rides or standing in line and especially at night-hard to lie down or get up.

Your gardens sound great! My DH is a certified nurseryman. He has a garden at his sister's house.

Sounds like you live in a great neighborhood!

Did you have another sneak peak photo to post??????

Well, - I had a very lazy day at home yesterday. I am not sure what was going on - but I had no ambition to do anything. I even called down to the bar/restaurant and cancelled our reservation, I just wasn't up to it. Turns out, last night - my minor sore/annoying throat moved into my chest and nose, so I have a nice cold. Grrr... No pain - just annoying, so far anyways.

Josh and MM drove the 4 hours to the lake yesterday afternoon. At about the 3 hour mark (after sleeping the entire trip - yay), MM woke up and made it known that it was TIME to go outside. LOL So, Josh had to coax him to wait about 10 miles, until he could get off the interstate. Josh said they made it in time. :cool1: MM was also afraid of the water. I can't blame him- our lake is one of the biggest lakes in MN - I know it's in the top 10 for size, but it's even possible it's in the top 5? So, it's probably like an ocean to the little guy. After much coaxing, Josh was finally able to get him in to retreive his dummy. I sent the good camera with Josh - so he better come back with tons of pictures of MM at the lake. I was so upset that I had to miss these moments - because the first trip to the lake is always so memorable.

I go back to work today. My foot is still a bit iffy, but I will have to deal with it. Unfortunately, my whole right leg is a bit weird from walking strangely over the last few days. Hopefully, I can start walking normally again soon.

D~
:wizard:Hope you're feeling better! Hope your foot was OK today!!!

I'm sure Max had a great time at the lake! Too bad you all couldn't be there.

Tuesday, March 13th...

Loved your photos! Too bad about EE but V did a great job on the fast passes. I always have to be the runner of my family-kids are too young and DH doesn't get the concept of getting there quickly.:rolleyes1 And DD(almost 13) is just like her Dad.

I wanted to do a quick MM and IRL update...

Way to go V being the fastpass runner! Always best to send the youngest one. :rotfl2:

That stinks that the park had just opened and the EE was down already. Looks like you did the right thing though and it all worked out for you.

What a fun day. I love those hazy morning at AK!

I know - it's just beautiful!

What a shame that EE was down when you were almost first in line. You got great photos of the Animals on the Safari ride

I know - I was kind of bummed about that. I was just glad to actually get to see some animals. ;)

Hope your cold doesn't get worse. It's amazing how much work interfers with life, isn't it?

Yup - it got worse... I know - I wish it didn't interfere so much... Oh well. :confused3

Last year was the first year we had done a garden. I usually throw a few flowers into pots around the yard. But Alli had raised some plants in her botany class - so Josh decided to build her a garden. It did amazingly well. So, now... well - we are doing it again. This year it's V who has the plants from botany.

I hope your garden comes up soon so you can give V some good food.

LOL Thanks Cheryl.

sounds like a great start to your AK day.
love the KS, I could ride it over and over, love the giraffes pictures

It is such a neat and unique ride. This is the first time we had a decent safari guide too - so that made a difference.

:scared1:

Awww... thanks Oopsi.

Wow - living on 5 acres - you must grow something.

yay for getting to see so many animals on KS...bummer about EE being down, but looks like you made up for it later on!

hope you feel better soon!

cute photos of V and MM and the garden! hope you get a good crop!

Thanks Lisa... Yes, we did make up for it later. :thumbsup2

I am trying to feel better - but this cold has now moved in full force. Grrr... And I was just thinking to myself - this was the second year in a row with out any sort of sickness (no colds, no flu)... Shouldn't have thought about it.

Thanks... MM is getting so big - I can't believe how quickly he is growing!

Very quick drive by post b/c I have to get ready for work.....

All righty -- must run and change out my nice clothes into yucky work clothes. Adios!

That is something that is on my to do list next time. We have never ridden EE at night - and I would like to.

Our yard is decent sized... Just a hair over a 1/3 acre - which is pretty good for being in "town" - even if it is an incredibly small town. I've seen much smaller houses - I guess ours is maybe a hair smaller than most... it's just the layout that makes it feel smaller. Since it's a farm house, it doesn't "flow" like most houses do - and since it was built in 1880 - and there have been so many upgrades since then - I will just never have a "normal" kitchen layout. Which is OK. We've thought about doing a full kitchen remodel - and we will may, but the way our plumbing for our master bathroom is run through the walls, we can never move any of our walls to make our main level more functional. So, I just cringe at the thought of remodeling something that will never be totally "right" when we are done. It's the perfectionist in me.

MM is a big ball of energy. LOL

ROFL - you killed a fake plant??? I would LOVE to hear that story. :rotfl2:

That would be a bummer about the poacher act... it's just part of the ride. I don't think they need any more zebras.

I have that Tervis tumbler too! It's identical, except mine is the St. Louis Cardinals!

Awesome!!! I love it. I was so excited when I found it.

Sorry to hear that your hurt foot is also your "sewing foot." It's good that you had your tetanus shot already, though - my last booster was over 11 years ago but I just can't quite get myself to go get it....

I was the same way - I am really horrible about getting my boosters. Unfortunately, I didn't have a choice last year. The shot wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be though.

You know, we tried really hard not to bring our mugs with us - because they were a total pain to keep track of. I don't remember why we did that morning?

LOL I totally admire people who can go into the parks and not carry anything. I wish I could do that!

I still have not ridden KS. I've only been to AK twice, though; maybe I'll get there this September.

You should try, if you can. It's a fun ride. But ride in the morning. :thumbsup2

I really wish we could have a garden; I'd love to have some berries growing! We're in a condo, though and there are strict rules on outside gardens. Will be looking forward to more pics of your garden, as it grows!

That's a bummer. I will try to post pictures as the garden grows.

I know this wasn't for a birthday... but last Christmas - Josh got each of the girls their first set of diamond stud earrings. They aren't great quality at all... but they were real - and they were reasonable. I was able to get them at Kohl's - they were on a great sale, then I had an additional 30%... In the end, if I remember correctly, they were less than $30/pair. We made a HUGE deal about them being real (which they are)... I always thought that a daughter should get her first diamonds from her dad. :lovestruc So, that's an idea?

I love my Tervis Tumblers... I have never seen the water bottles, but I am sure they are very good.

My back wasn't bad walking around just on jerky rides or standing in line and especially at night-hard to lie down or get up.

I am glad it was't too bad for most of your trip.

Your gardens sound great! My DH is a certified nurseryman. He has a garden at his sister's house.

Cool... What a fun job to have (not for me personally, of course - brown thumb here, ya know?) - but if it's your passion - how perfect!

Sounds like you live in a great neighborhood!

Did you have another sneak peak photo to post??????

We do like our neighborhood - we are so fortunate.

I will be able to post another one in a few days... I am running out of sneak peek photos, and I still have a few more weeks until the reveal. :surfweb:

Hope you're feeling better! Hope your foot was OK today!!!

Thanks! My cold took over full force... Grrr... My foot was OK - it was just rough having "real" shoes on it all day.

I'm sure Max had a great time at the lake! Too bad you all couldn't be there.

I know - I really wish I could have been there. He is having so much fun!

Loved your photos! Too bad about EE but V did a great job on the fast passes. I always have to be the runner of my family-kids are too young and DH doesn't get the concept of getting there quickly. And DD(almost 13) is just like her Dad.

LOL... I think V is going to be our FP runner forever - she is very good at it. And she is one of those people who can get through a crowd of people, and they don't even notice she is there. After this, she ran a few times for FPs... and it worked out really well. I am sure she'd come with you on your next trip and be your FP runner... :thumbsup2

He's so stinking cute! He's getting so big!

Thanks! We like to think he is cute... He is like the typical "annoying little brother" to the girls. LOL He chases them, and nips at them - trying to get them to play... They get mad at him... LOL

Thanks for the new sneak peak photos. Can't wait to see the finished project.

Me too... I am ashamed to say that I still need to do the applique for the wallet...

Love your new update Isn't funny how excited you get when you see animals on a safari We were actually surprised when we finally say the Lion awake, when we went last year.

Thanks Michelle. :) Yah - we were super happy to finally see animals on the safari.

Way to go V being the fastpass runner! Always best to send the youngest one.

That stinks that the park had just opened and the EE was down already. Looks like you did the right thing though and it all worked out for you.

LOL... Yah - I think she is our designated FP runner forever - she is really good at it. Yah - we really himmed and hawed about what to do... should we leave the line? Should we not? Everyone else was leaving... the lines were just getting longer everywhere else... Finally, we couldn't stand it any longer, and I am glad it worked out.

I had a good day at work yesterday - despite having to limp around all day. I even got my review... Which was a very nice review... better than I feel I deserved, but I am not complaining at all. I did manage to get a nice raise - which I believe to be the largest raise that I have ever received with this company. This really surprised me, because I was told by several of my co-workers not to expect a raise at all this year, as they were being very stingy with them. But putting it in perspective - considering we only get one reveiw per year, our raises are really crappy. Oh well - I'll take more $$ in my pocket any day.

My cold is still getting worse, and I had a miserable night at my meeting... It went 3 hours (GULP) and the entire time, I was coughing/blowing my nose/holding back a sneeze... I was glad it was finally over. When I got home - the girls had left the porch light on for me - and they were sound asleep in bed. They even got up this morning, on their own... I woke up and realized their bus would be here in 15 minutes - so I jumped out of bed to get them up, and here they were all ready for school and being quiet to let me sleep in. Such good girls. :lovestruc

I talked to Josh yesterday. The dock is in at the lake... Yay! Not sure when we are putting the boats in... If we are going to have the storage company bring them over to the lake and dock them for us? Or if we are going to do it. Officially, we don't have a trip planned up there until the week of 4th of July - and that's pretty late to get toys into the lake... So, I am not sure what the plan is?

Anyways, MM learned how to swim yesterday. Josh says that he loves the water and has so much fun playing in it. I am sure when he comes home, MM will tell me all about his adventures. popcorn:: I wish I could have been there to see it - but Josh took the good camera, so there better be tons of photos for me.

I plan to hibernate in my sewing room today. I only have 2 days off of work this week - and I have a lot to accomplish.

Oh, and the girls have their last choir concert of the year tonight. :lovestruc

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

D~

Fabulous job with your good review and raise :) I thought of you the other day when I was at Target and the photo lab was closed and the sign said they were remodeling and would no longer be processing film. And how cool is it that MM took to the water -- I hope Josh has some video of him swimming.

You do have a good sized lot. I think we only have 1/4 of an acre and we have a big house occupying a lot of it. I do love the size of our house and rooms, but our lots are small and houses are close together. Land is at a premium here. If you want a large lot you really have to have $$$$$$$$$$$. I was yard sale-ing in a nice neighborhood over the weekend and one house had a three car attached garage and then a separate two car stand alone garage. It was in an ultra premium neighborhood though. We'd never have space here to expand. Then again Amy, who lives on the other end of town, has a huge backyard! In my neighborhood the builders squashed the homes together -- I guess they felt they'd get more money selling more homes than they would having larger lots and heftier prices :confused3

sorry you are feeling so yucky, rest and drink lots of fluid...sweet the girls are taking care of you :goodvibes

congratulations of the great review and raise....nice they appreciate your hard work!!
great MM is loving the water and the dock is in!

:yay: Yay for raises! :yay: Now you will have more money for Disney!

Sorry to hear your cold is getting worse. Bradey and I have been fighting one for well over a week now and it just won't give up. Of course walking around in the rainy woods searching for Molly isn't helping on the "get well front", but oh well.

Yay for boats too....that means summer might actually come! We are big boaters too :) Well, I am...DH not so much.

And yes, I killed a fake plant. The only place I had to put it was in front of our window and I guess it just got too much sun because the leaves faded and turned really brown. Everyone likes to make fun of me because of it, but it really wasn't my fault  I don't even try the real thing anymore. But that is really more laziness than talent as I hate to weed and get everything ready in the spring. Thank goodness my grandparents have a HUGE garden so we get lots of yummy stuff from them. And the past few years DH has been doing pretty well getting his own little garden going. He enjoys is, but doesn't have alot of time since he works nights.

D~ we grow KIDS on our 5 acres! :lmao: We have: trampoline, swing set, sandbox, clubhouse in an old barn, fire pit for bonfires, a tree swing...and going in this summer- a gi-normous tree house that will extend out over the creek. :thumbsup2
