"Seven Seven 07" 20070707-11 Night Mediterranean Cruise

We are staying in Paris the week after the cruise. We found a great apartment right across the street from the Louvre. It puts us with in walking distance of many of the best sites. We are also very close to the train to take us to DLP. If you want the info just send me a PM. The building has 5 apartments. We are getting 2 of them for our stay.

I was scolded for not having enough posts. Hopefully this counts as a post so I can try it again:mad:

Well I am getting nervous as I don't pack lightly!! I went out and bought a luggage scale and weighed my suitcases and it we just as I expected. My two biggest weigh in at 20lbs and 30lbs empty!!! :rotfl2: Needless to say I went out yesterday and bought two new bags -- one under 10lbs and a 29inch that only weighs 12!!!

We will be doing DLP after the cruise and will be staying in the Hotel New York. I am getting really excited now as I have made all my shore excursion selections -- just waiting for Easter to call. I may be late for Mass! :rolleyes1 Still have to make final payment but I have been putting money away every month and just about have it!!:cool1:

Now I have the task of researching which European Airline has the most generous luggage rules. If anyone can get me off the hook, I would greatly appreciate it:3dglasses

We are staying at the Santa Fe, the least expensive of the Disney properties. There are only three of us so one room is sufficient. We are going to take the train into Paris one day so that DH can go to the museum, and DD and I can go shopping:cool1:

I just reserved the Holiday Inn at DLP Resort. (2 Kids Suites) Has anyone ever been here Before? The pictures look nice but I fell for that trick once before and ended up in the room that wasn't pictured on the website:rotfl:

I am a posting fool tonight:banana:

I don't know if there is a chart out there. On AirFrance I think we get to bring 55 lbs. But it will go all the way through. I think some people that were booking a well known airline to Europe but then, taking a SouthWest Type airline flight to Barcelona were finding more luggage restrictions. My understanding on AirFrance you are allowed one carryon. So you can't bring a purse and a backpack or roll on suitcase. It all must fit into the backpack or rollon suitcase.

We fly alot to Hawaii and our weight limit is 50 lbs we don't have many problems with it. And, our suitcases weigh about 20 lbs to start with too. I'm hoping we don't need to buy new luggage.

Greetings All,

We have a private tour of Rome booked with Marco from Stafano's Rome Cabs that I am going to cancel soon and wanted to give someone here the chance to pick it up if interested. I was able to negotiate of price of €480 for 2 adults and 3 kids. Please PM me if interested.

Getting Closer!

John

"Hello John,
I have my associate Marco avalible for you, he is an English speaking gentleman.

The standard tour I provide in Rome is designed to cover the city major sites in one day. Additional off the beaten path tours can be arranged upon request of the client. Pick up at the pier at 08,00 AM and Return at 06:00PM. There will be a card with your surname on the windscreen. We'll drive in a smooth motorway trough the country and see the Etruscan landscapes. It will take approx. one hour and ten minutes to get to Rome. The drive will continue along Ostiense Road and arrive at the Pyramid built for Caius Cestio.

At this stage of the tour we will be inside the ancient Roman Wall built by Emperor Aureliano. We will then arrive at the Circus Maximus, the large ancient stadium for chariot races. Behind the stadium you will see the Palatine Hill where the villas and the domus of the emperors were built. At this point you will be able to see the Arch of Constantine and the Coloseum. We will stop here, and you will be able to visit the Colosseum and the Roman Forum on your own if you wish.

In order to avoid lengthy, and time consuming queues, I will obtain the entry tickets in advance as a complimentary service for my clients. The fees for the entry tickets will be added to the final bill (the Colosseum charges 11 Euros per ticket). Following the Colosseum, we will drive by the Piazza Venezia where you will see the Vittorio Emanuele Monument, dedicated to the first king of Italy.

Now will be the time to visit the Vatican Museum where you will be able to admire the vast collection of masterpieces, including the Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel. Admission to the Museum is 13 Euros per person. If you wish to have a tour guide in the Vatican Museum I can book one at a price of 60 Euros per hour. It will take two hours to visit the Museum,The Sixtine Chapel and The asilica. Please note that the Vatican museum is closed on Sundays. Upon exiting the museum, you will be in St Peter's Square from where you will be able to visit the inside of St. Peter's Basilica.

Our next destination will be the Pantheon, once the temple of all Roman gods, then a church and burial place for kings and artists (Raphael). Trevi fountain will follow. Here you can toss a coin in the fountain to ensure a return visit to Italy. Finally, you can rest and have a seat on the Spanish Steps.

Please note that the order in which we will visit the sites may vary pending traffic conditions or other third party act. The tour can be altered to personalize your desires. Additional costs for entry tickets are not included in the tour fee, and the costs for entry tickets purchased in advance will be added to the final bill. The fees for the tours include tolls and parking, and are required in Euro funds. Kindly dress appropriately in order to be able to enter a church.

Tour fee for up to three people will be 450 euros, for up to four people will be 500 Euros, for up to six 550 Euros and for up to eight 600 euros (doesnot include entrance fees to Colosseum and Vatican Museum and lunch) In your case I will discount the tour fee to 480Euros because there are the children in your party.

Hi everyone - I've been visiting the cruise critic med. boards, since those folks have been cruising and touring the med. area for years - to try to pick up some info on hiring private drivers/tours while in Naples ( Pompeii / Amalfi coast) Florence and Rome - they have quite a wealth of information and recommendations.

We are a family of 4 - DH, DS 18 & DS 12 and myself from NJ, and would be interested in sharing the ride and the cost of a private and more personal tour with 4 other fellow cruisers at these locations. I think this will be a more informative and personal way to see Italy, than on a DCL bus packed with people.

Is anyone interested in touring with us, or would like more info? Please reply here, or email me at shercara@aol.com.

Thanks!
Sherri

Hi - Is anyone interested in sharing this tour to Pompeii/Amalfi Coast with us - there is room for 4 in the van and the guide seems to come highly recommended.

Also - is anyone interested in sharing a tour in Florence (La Spezia) with a possible stop off in Pisa? We would be interested in visiting some of the museums & maybe a little shopping. We are a family of 4 - DH, DS(18) DS(12) and myself - from New Jersey!

Please PM or better yet email me ( shercara@aol.com) if you have any questions would like to share a tour with us.

Thanks,
Sherri

Hi everyone! How is everybody doing ?- This cruise will be here before we know it! Just thought I'd give this thread a little bump, and ask if any of you have a 12 year old ( or around there) boy going on the cruise - I would love for my son to make a friend before we sail - Anyone?

Also our 90 day Castaway Club pre cruise excursion date is coming up fast - are you planning your excursions? What has everyone come up with? Any good ideas??

Thanks,
Sherri

Hi Sherri ... I have lots of great ideas, but I don't get to book until 75 days out. I'm just hoping that my choices are still available.

Hi,

Sorry if this has already been posted but is anyone interested in a group dinner the night before sailing in Barcelona?

DH and I are planning to arrive a day early and thought it might be fun to meet other Dis ers before the cruise.

Also, is anyone planning a pre-cruise excursion? We keep tossing that one around... will we be too jet lagged or should we take advantage of an excurions. Thoughts? :confused3

Hi Judy ... I think it would be great to meet for dinner .. I'm staying at the Hilton del mar. Let me know what is going on? I arrive at 4:30 on the 6th. I should be over the jet lag, as I'm arriving June 29 for a week in London and Paris before the cruise.

I booked one private tour in Naples... Then, I'll probably book the rest through Disney. I have my wish list. Lucky for me I can call at 9 pm since I live on the West Coast. So I'll be ready...

Hi, That would be great. We are flying in the day before. Disney is arranging the flights so I won't final details for another month. I'll post again in a few days and maybe have some ideas of places to eat.

Thanks,
Judy
