"Seven Seven 07" 20070707-11 Night Mediterranean Cruise

Our 7-7-07 thread has gotten pretty quiet. Has everyone moved over to the General Med Thread? :rolleyes1

I, for one, haven't even begun to read the Gen Med Thread yet. I've been really busy at work and at home, so I've gotten behind on everything, including this thread. :sad2: I'm hoping that January will slow down enough for me to be able to grab a large block of time and sit down with a cup of hot chocolate and finally begin to catch up on the massive Gen Med Thread. :surfweb:

maxs gm - I owe you an apology. :guilty: Waaaaaay back on page 13 you joined our thread and asked if it was too late to sign up for the Palo Brunch. I thought you were asking if it was too late to book a regular brunch at Palo's, which seems to be a big worry on the Cruise Board. Somehow, I missed the whole Palo's Brunch party discussion that Monstro (Jeff) was actually organizing for our sailing. So, please accept my apology for the mix-up. I am thrilled that you were able to still sign up for Jeff's gathering. :goodvibes

Yea! to everyone who's managed to score great hotel and airfare rates! :cheer2: I'm so jealous! ;) Although I added on Disney's airfare when I booked our cruise, I fully intended to explore other options by now but haven't had a moment's time to do that. Again, that will have to wait until January. Right now, Disney has us arriving in Barcelona on the 7th, and that makes me very nervous about missing the ship. I know it'd be up to them to get us on board at another port, but I don't want to miss a minute of the cruise. :boat:

We also signed up for the "interest list" for a Disneyland Paris add-on. I sure wish they'd hurry up and let us know what that expense would be. My DS (a history buff) would like to head to Normandy for a day, too.

And so now we wait........... for excursions............ SO EXCITING! pirate:

MJGirl: yes we are on the 7/7 cruise. I have been quitly reading both threads. :teeth:

We will be in Barcelona for a few days before the cruise and we finally booked our flight... prices are not coming down and it seems that it is filling up.

I am still here. We have been too busy to post. I have tried to read it about every other night though. I also try to read the all med.

We are still keeping an eye on the air fares. We have been told that the fares should drop in Dec. It it now the 6th and I have not seen anything yet. I plan on watching for a couple more weeks then we are going to go ahead and book. I do keep a good look at how many seats are still left. It has not really changed at all.

Just thought I'd let you all know the shore excursions have been posted online. Yippeee... Happy planning.

I agree... This is fun ... But boy is the site busy :rotfl2:

Well, we have a cabin assignment! We are just around the corner from the Midship Elevator Lobby (Woohoo)! :cool1:

I was trying to update our info on the DCL web site. They request your flight info even if you didn't book it through Disney. However, the web site does not allow you to choose origination or destination cities outside of the USA. I guess nobody updated the site for the Med Cruises.

I also tried adding some shore excursions to my "wish list". It showed that the Private VIP Vatican tour was in St. Thomas! :rotfl2:

I guess there are a lot of little tweaks that they need to make for the new Med Sailings on their web site.

Stay tuned. popcorn::

Are they allowing anybody to book excursions just yet....I was told Disney that I can't book until April, when my account has been paid in full...does that sound right, and I thought if you were a Castaway Member, you got to book early. Any thoughts....thanks

It is my understanding that one can only get confirmed excursions when your cruise payment is made in full. However that said, this is what it says on the Disney Cruise line site: Please return 75 days prior to embarkation. If you are a Castaway Club member, you may return 90 days prior to embarkation. If you are a Concierge Guest, you may return 105 days prior to embarkation.

Wow ... Just thought I would check on the cost of the cruise, and the price of a cat 10 is now over 7000 (for me and my daughter)!! :bitelip: I'm glad I booked early ... Has everyone had a chance to check out the excursions... Hey Monstro ... Are you as surprised as I am to see a tour in Palermo that includes the catacombs! I know this sounds morbid, but I would really love to see them!

By the way...

:santa: I wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. May 2007 bring us all joy, happiness and smooth sailing !!! :santa:

And God bless us, every mouse... I mean everyone. :joker:

Tic Toc Tic Toc...

The cruise is getting closer every day.

:cool1:

Hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday and a safe and Happy New Year!!! I am really looking forward to July!

Just want to say hello. My wife and I are all set to sail on the 07/07/07 Med cruise. This is our 8th Disney cruise. We are flying out of ATL on the 4th and will probably head over to Frankfurt after the cruise.

We have been on some Disney standby list, to try and get to Barcellona a few days early. For some reason they say they can't book us in yet. Is anybody else having this problem. When I look on line to book my own flight it seems like none of the airlines fly from LAX to Barcellona direct. Any help..

Thanks

pixiedust: Happy New Year 7-7-07 Sailing Friends! pixiedust:

First of all... WOW! I can hardly believe we're down to half a year before embarking on our trip of a lifetime! Woohoo! :yay:

After many sleepless nights worrying about Disney flying us to Barcelona, I finally decided to do our own air tonight. I'd been waffling back and forth for months. Initially, I was glad Disney would have to be responsible for getting us to the ship on time. However, I hated that I would have no control over how many and how long our connections could end up being, as well as little control over our seat assignments. Then tonight I read the "Pity Party" post on the main DCL thread and felt that was a sign that I really did need to do our own air. We're now arriving on July 6th. The only hitch is we have a 10:55 a.m. flight out on disembarkation day. Since I waited so long to book the air, I only saved $664 which will go toward hotel, food, sightseeing, and cab fare for that extra day in Barcelona. Overall though, I do feel much better. I'll call DCL tomorrow to cancel the air portion of our reservation.

We've spent the better part of Christmas vacation pouring over the excursion options. Gosh, there are a LOT of things to choose from! I think we're going to do Rome on our own. If anyone else is planning to do that, maybe we could form our own little tour group. ;)

Hi calif disney 1 - I don't think you're going to be able to go non-stop from LAX to BCN because it's just too far for a plane to fly without stopping. For example, the non-stop flight from EWR (New York/Newark) to BCN is 8 hours and 5 minutes. Because of winds, the return flight is 9 hours and 5 minutes. Your best bet would be to fly non-stop LAX to EWR or LAX to MCO (Orlando), and then non-stop from EWR to BCN. Even though we live on the east coast, we still have to fly to EWR first. Good luck on finding your flights! I know I personally feel much better now that we've made our reservations. :)

Thought I'd get the first post of 2007 on this thread.
