Have you looked into renting DVC points from a member? It could save you lots of money!

I have thought about it but haven't looked that hard. My understanding it that once it is booked that's it, no cancelling. Coming from Canada and having three kids, I don't want to be tied to a reservation if I were to have to cancel. Not that I plan on cancelling but you never know what might happen.

If you rent DVC, do you still get all that you can get by booking a regular room? Can you get the dining plan? I will probably check the DVC thread out but honestly the whole thing confuses me. I also don't know if my prtner would be comfortable with it.

I'm still holding out to win the lottery but that isn't working out so well for me! :headache:

Yes, you can still get the dining plan. I am not sure how renting points works and I am sure that different people have different room, but when I make a reservation using my own points, I can cancel until up to one month prior to check in with no penalties whatsoever.

It would all depend on the DVC owner you were renting from. They probably would have a no cancellation policy because they are counting on the renter to use the points in the allotted time frame. Allowing someone to cancel means that they would have to make other arrangements for the points. Canceling 30 days prior to a vacation might make it difficult for the owner to get the value they are looking for.

However, other than that restriction, you would get a much nicer room at a very good price. You can get the dining plan, but the owner of the points would have to make the arrangements for you.

:wave2: missing everyone while in Vegas but having a good time...

Hope you are winning big!

Good Evening Everyone, I am so far behind on all my threads...only here for a few minutes now, no time to read and catchup tonight. But wanted everyone to know I miss you.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

This will be our first time at AKL. My DH & I have stayed at a lot of the other resorts but have always wanted to stay here. We have rented points for a 2 bedroom in KV for Nov. 17-24th. It is a standard view and now I am wondering if I'm going to regret not getting a savannah view. Also, this will be a first trip for my DB, DSIL and kids 3 & 5. Is there anything that are must do's at the resort? I want this trip to be extra special for them since it's their first trip.

First, Congratulations on your trip! :) you really dont need a savannah view, there are so many viewing areas around the resort. I really enjoy having one though. Nothing like sitting on your balcony and watching the animals. The only problem I can foresee is the person you're renting from has to have enough points to change, and it still has to be available. It never hurts to ask. Make sure you look at the activities pamphlet they give you when you check in, there is lots of stuff for the kids.

Hey all!:goodvibes

This is the 1st time in a while I've been on long enough for the DIS to not crash on me for me to get here.
Impossible for me to catch up:faint:

Hope everyone is doing well.

Work has been crazy, we bought out another company and no one knows what the heck is going on.

I just got over round 3 of bronchitis or whatever it is, then I hurt my knee so took some time off from power walking..Then I hurt my elbow, I know it's from too much typing, FB games, etc.

So I had a rough week, and to make it worse, I didnt get accpeted into the college I applied for:mad: And I've still got no reason why....Scott is doing well, though...They took some of the credits he earned from NE Shool of Finance, and they applied to this school, and were able knock off 5 courses!:thumbsup2

43 more days until Kidani! I need it bad:worship:

Jambo, everyone! We are at AKL in June, and I'm trying to decide if we need to use Garden Grocer this trip. I'm considering packing a small carryon with some breakfast essentials, including bagels & muffins.

I know the marketplace now sells some grocery-type items for the villas -- does anyone know if I can get a brick of cream cheese and a 12-pack of Coke Zeros there? We'll have mugs to use at Mara, but depending on where our room is, we might just want to grab a can out of the fridge.

Thanks!

Good morning, Jamborinis & Kidanites!

We need the rain desperately, but... I miss the sunshine!
