Hi Everyone! I'm planning a surprise trip for my kids in January 2013 for MLK weekend. I'm hoping to rent DVC points for AKL. Here's my dilemma. I'm saving up money and I won't have enough until August to rent the points. Do I have a shot at getting a studio in January? I know it's low season so I'm hoping that it won't be too late.

Just thought I would pop in and let you all know how much we are LOVING our first stay at AKL! It is just a beautiful resort. And this may sound odd, but I love love love the way the resort smells!! It is so nice to walk in to the lobby after a busy day. I know some have mentioned finding it dark but we just find the lighting ambient and peaceful. I could absolutely see us coming back here.
Today dd and I took a morning to just hang out at the resort. We swam for awhile and then walked behind the pool to look at the savannah. Found a lovely little hot tub and relaxed there for awhile. It was just a perfect day.
I can absolutely see why so many love it here!!!

Just book it and take them. There are so many choices everyone will leave full and happy. My preference is breakfast, it is so fabulous! dinner is very good too, oh my they're both good.... They probably have no idea what it's like and making a decision too hastily. There's no better time to try new things than when you have free dining. Ok, I'm sorry I'm being pushy

I wish I knew for sure to ease your mind, but even though it's low season MLK weekend was crazy busy last year when we went. I really hope you'll have good luck. Have you thought if you'd do a second choice resort if AKV has no studios?

Do you know what the terms are of the person you are renting from? They may only require a partial payment up front. That is what I would do if I rented my points. You might want to ask because depending on the weekend in January, if it's marathon weekend, nothing will like open up no matter where you want to be.

Yippee! Just changed our resort from PoP (which we do love) to AKL for the 1st Star Wars Weekend in June. We stayed at AKL for the first time this New Years and really liked it, so decided to go back this trip. The AP discounts didn't hurt either.

Is it me, or do the Savanna view "villa" rooms in Jambo run les than the standard lodge rooms? Or is it just that the AP discount is bigger on them?

Either way, really looking forward to it, and a chance to use the pool when it's actually warm outside!

Yea, that is how I do it, half up front when I make the reservation, and half two weeks prior to the date

I'm just popping in because I'm excited: 3 weeks until our first stay at Kidani Village! In 2010 we stayed at Jambo House, but only for a night. (It was the night before my now-husband proposed and he told me later on he wasn't able to enjoy it because he was so nervous. ) We're only there for three nights, but I am hoping we have some time to enjoy the resort.
