Seven Dwarfs Mine Train -Inside Portion

I don't understand how the Mine Train is not new? Yes the new theming and detail, the effects, the story line are over the top. The ride itself has new technology Disney designed for this attraction, the swaying mine cars.

There is lots of new here.

Now did they built just another thrill coaster.............no......it was never intended to be. Not a lot of guests want thrill coaster, it is not what Disney is about. The magic of Disney still shines (even if Iger dulled it. Hopefully he has finally woken up).

Seems a lot of new story lines attractions are being added, the new MK Parade, the night light show at the AK, Aviator land, Stars war, and maybe Car land.

AKK

Okay swaying mine cars that may be new but I don't see that as an Oh my God you have got to try this ride for its swaying mine cars type thing. I don't think they needed to make it a high thrill coaster either, but IMO (which doesn't make you wrong) there is nothing really to get super excited about for this ride, other than the fact that it may ease the crowds on some of the other coaster rides.
Does that mean I don't think it won't be popular, of course not. Do I think it won't be loved, of course not. For me, its just another beautifully themed coaster in a park full of them. And that is fine, it clearly works for MK and they have other parks where they (hopefully ) start doing something we haven't seen before in terms of rides and attractions.
Its okay if you like this attraction, and its okay if others don't see it as anything really special. :)

Yeah, there is no way this ride could be in any way considered an E-ticket attraction. However, for a kiddie coaster it looks OK and I do want to check it out at some point.

Basically it's a low thrill family coaster with a cool theme. Not an E-ticket and not really something worth a long line wait but kids will find it fun.

When you say "kiddie coaster" I think of something like this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Little_Dipper_May-2010.jpg

i.e. that ride in the corner of a six flags or great America where your kids can around a small loop twice. That's a kiddie coaster. It cost probly a few thousand dollars to install, and they could take it down over night.

The Mine Train is the new major world-interest primary draw to the already most popular family tourist destination park in the world. It is going to be THE RIDE people come to Disney World specifically for, and is tops of their 'must-do' for the next 5 years.

It is in every way an E-Ticket Family Roller Coaster with awesome theming. The thrill level might be on the medium-low end, 4/10 when compared to the Goliath at MM or similar. But it is still E-Ticket. A ride does not have to be 9/10 thrill to be considered E-Ticket. E-Ticket has to do w the general desirability of the ride, commanding presence in the park, etc. This is the anchor and the centerpiece of the Enchanted Forest. It will be so for the forseeable future.

Fair enough, All I was pointing out is the things that are special and make it unique.

Happy to agree to disagree!:thumbsup2

Wasn't it supposed to be longer when it was first developed? And then it got cut down in length?

How much of a story is there going to be? It looks like it is just the dwarves mining for a short scene, if I am looking at the diagram right.

It will still be a massive hit and I'm sure it will be fun.

You label it as a WORLD INTEREST ride? Really? Mystic Manor is that. Ratatouille will be that (I'm delaying our trip until late Summer to make sure it's open). Dwarf Hill (love that) is going to be fun. But if folks planning are trip around this ride, there is no way they won't be disappointed. I still see posters thinking this is just a small notch below BTMRR. Disney has successfully created that myth, and are more than happy to cut 5 seconds from a ride video to keep the myth going.

Walt himself wouldn't have the guts to charge an E ticket for this ride. Based on ride length alone. Is there any E ticket that is less than 4 minutes? Journey is pretty short, which is why I think it is just barely an E ticket, despite its awesomeness.

It will be insanely popular. But that's just because it's the first truly new ride in the MK in MANY years. I guess since Pooh (oh wait, the second Dumbo, and the Magic Carpets!), which was but a shell of the Tokyo ride that had opened years before.

But, if you are right, and the world want's more Dwarf Hill's, then they will get them. I'm sure by 2019 they may be able to build one in Disneyland.

When it was first developed as in back in the 1990's? Possibly.
At that point they were probably designing it to fit all of the 20,000 Leagues space including the lagoon and the show building.

What actually got built in New Fantasyland had to fit in the space of the 20,000 Leagues lagoon since the Journey of the Little Mermaid was being built in the place of the old 20,000 Leagues show building.

You label it as a WORLD INTEREST ride? Really?

I admit I chuckled seeing that. I'm betting that most people planning a trip to WDW won't even know its there until they actually start their planning.
I really don't see the world talking much about this ride :lmao:

Yeah, I'm excited for this ride, but I don't know if I'd consider it a WORLD interest.

I fully expect it will be of world interest to those people that know the fairy tale, which is a good bit of the world.

Not to mention the Disney movie which is also known World wide.

The characters are loved by children and adults everywhere and this E ticket has been talked about for 2 years now.and the videos and details we have continue to show its over the top.

does anyone know if the 7DMT will have a mountain name attached to it? my movie trivia is weak so I don't know if there is a named mountain in the movie (and no I haven't googled either)

Erebor! :thumbsup2

Oops, sorry, wrong dwarf mountain. :headache:

You label it as a WORLD INTEREST ride? Really?
This is the first ride in the world with this particular car swing mechanics... other swinging cars are usually top tracked.

If a popular ride is E ticket, then as others have said, Peter Pan is an E ticket? Heck, meeting Mickey is an E ticket. Meeting Elsa and whatsherface is apparently an F ticket.

As for RSR being more thrilling that TT, how do you figure? Have you not rode RSR? It was always said by Disney to be low speed thrills for everyone. TT is the "fastest ride at WDW". RSR goes like 25 mph. Most of the tension and thrills of the outside section are actually a response to the fake motor noises and commentary, triggering your brain to think you have the pedal to the metal.

You can expect the Dwarf animatrons to be better than Ursala and Sebastian all day long. That doesn't make you right. And you realize their "new technology" could just be the newer skin material they used for the RSR animatrons, that I don't believe is anywhere on WDW property yet.

As for what IS an E-ticket? The usual: Mansion, Indy, BTMRR, POTC, Matterhorn, Splash, Dinosaur (although it's a poor copy of Indy), Everest (even with Disco Yeti), ToT, I'm not even sure if RnRC is. It's a standard off the shelf Vekoma model that is used elsewhere, the in-ride effects are about what other non-Disney parks do for inside coasters. An extravagant preshow and station don't make an E-ticket.

-Jason
~LOL @ Elsa and Anna being a F ticket -- you must really like them. :lmao: If the Haunted Mansion and Dinosaur are E ticket attractions than the mine train certainly is, too! You've just demonstrated to everyone that the only criteria you have relates to your personal tastes -- if the "theme" doesn't appeal to you -- the ride is harshly judged and then automatically downgraded. That is not fair.

Well said all the way around, Tonka is right, it is definitely an E-ticket and the anchor for Fantasyland.

Persnickety. Excellent word usage. :lmao:

It is semantics.

An E-ticket is whatever you want it to be. I define it two ways:

  1. A major popular ride.
  2. A ride that is a "must" for visitors at least once.
By my second definition, Peter Pan and It's a Small World are E-tickets because they are famous and "Musts" for every visitor at least once. Whereas ToT fits 1 and is very popular.

This is going to be big and very popular for the very reason that it is a unique and fun FAMILY ride.
~Fabulous comment. I totally agree with this and I also found this article.

ORLANDO, Fla. —Walt Disney Imagineer, Dave Minichiello, provided a look behind the final steps to the completion of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Minichiello has been a part of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train project for two years. He started as an art director on the Little Mermaid attraction and will be taking the Mine Train all the way through as the creative director.

Disney World Imagineering has released a video showing how they designed and produced the themed cars in the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride.

Walt Disney World Imagineers reached another milestone in the construction of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction at the new Fantasyland.

When discussing milestones, Minichiello said that everything has come along amazingly well.

"Pretty much every day is a milestone and some major ones that I’d like to mention are the Dwarfs Cottage, which is going quickly and looking amazing," he said. "The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train being a part of the forest - we’re starting to see it as a part of the forest with the tree planting. We’re finally starting to see it all come together."

The ride is making a lot of progress, according to Minichiello. Currently, the top of the mountain is being planted with trees, the final rock work is being completed as well as thematic painting of the rock work. Ride testing continues daily. Workers are also propping the attraction both inside and outside.

Minichiello said about the video, "What’s interesting about the video is that there’s a CGI model, which was the first concept model that we developed for this show. What’s amazing is seeing how accurate it was to our initial concept and vision. What’s amazing is how accurate the sight lines are, the staging, the scaling, the variable speeds. We’re fortunate to use innovative technologies during the development of our attraction."

Minichiello and his team decided to bring the concept of the Seven Dwarfs to Fantasyland because they wanted to create a mix of attractions that would offer a broad variety of experiences for their guests.

“We were looking for a family coaster type of experience. That led us to Snow White and a Mine Train type of vehicle. As a centerpiece of the New Fantasyland expansion, we also thought that this type of experience would create kinetic energy throughout the land,” he said.

The ride will feature a surprise song in the music queue. It was originally written for the film called “Music in Your Soup." They have recorded an instrumental version exclusively for the Mine Train. They wanted to give it the feel that it was played by the Seven Dwarfs.

The ride will have interactive elements. There will be an area where guests can sort and wash jewels, and guests will be taken into the vault as seen in “Snow White.”

There will also be opportunity to experience some favorite characters from the film.

The ride is described as a combination of a family coaster and a dark ride.

"It is unlike anything else in our parks. The attraction is more innovative in its ride system and vehicle. It is for the entire family. It gives the guests a new sensation they’ve never had before. We felt that uniqueness was the best way to tell our story," said Minichiello.

The attraction has as many amazing views on board as off.

“From the very beginning, we wanted to showcase those sight lines and see Storybook Circus, a little bit of Mermaid, then we head inside the mine to see the Dwarfs, you come out and see Prince Eric’s Castle, and an amazing view of Cinderella Castle. At our highest lift, you see Prince Eric’s Castle, Beast Castle and Cinderella Castle, so the views are spectacular," Minichiello said.

Some of the trains have been on the track for testing and Minichiello said that they have proved to be very smooth, providing sensations of pivoting back and forth and it continues to change throughout the attraction. Guests will feel differences in the various terrain around the mountain.

At one point in the ride, the train will slow down when it hits the “dark ride” point. The reason this happens is so that guests can enjoy the details of the scene. This is where guests can discover their favorite dwarfs, and all seven will be hard at work in the mine scene. There will also be hidden stuff in there.

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will mark the completion of the entire New Fantasyland expansion.

Minichiello said, “It’s that final gem in the overall New Fantasyland project and we are excited to share it with our guests. For myself and all of our team members, it has been really special to bring all these stories into Magic Kingdom for our guests to experience."

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is scheduled to debut this spring.

~This article states that guests will be able to "wash and sort" jewels and also taken into the "vault!" I didn't see a vault in that video. :yay:

~Snow White is the highest grossing princess of all time -- almost a billion in revenue and climbing. This IP is both iconic & classic. Also, Shanghai Disney is getting 7DMT -- that's where the track layout was initially discovered.

~Right now, Disney is adding lush green grass and gorgeous flowers -- it's so pretty. :cloud9:

~This may not be the fastest or tallest coaster -- but it's beautiful, innovative, and fun for "everyone" (even you) to enjoy. And, It's almost here. :cool1:

Well said Dr. , it is all of the above. sadly there are some that can't consider anything a E ticket unless its a thrill coaster. There are others that have been trying to tear this attraction apart since it was announced and now that it's is so near and the video and other reports show it to be a E ticket they are unhappy and now are trying to say its short.

They are entitled to their opinions.

I am hoping that all the work, Imagineering and innovation that has gone into this attraction is a sign that Iger and his bean counters have woken up and we can expect the same perfection on the many attractions coming along...

Comparing Mansion to Dwarf Hill is pretty out there, and proof you aren't looking for an honest debate.
