A friend of mine told me that PotC movie and the HM movie were going to be tied in.

Her theory is that Elizabeth and Will get together, from the movie...and they move into this glorious house (which is a family plantation/house), which turns out to have 99 happy haunts in it, and they're looking for one more. So, the Swann house is the haunted mansion. the HM is the home that Elizabeth & Will "run off" to upon their marriage.

Is this possible!? I mean, the HM is called "Gracey Mansion" not "Swann Mansion".

Can anyone confirm or deny!? TIA!

I just went and saw the Pirates of the Carribean for the second time last Wednesday and they had a preview of the Haunted Mansion movie... it showed that Eddie Murphy will be in the movie and he and his "family" will be moving in the mansion... there was no "hint" of a tie in with the Pirate of the Carribean movie... hope this helps.

No idea if they plan to have any "pirate" ghosts in the HM movie, but I know that your friend's idea is not what will happen. You can see the movie pre-view and read a synopsis on the Disney site. The movie is based on a New Orleans Plantation house that was owned by the Gracey family. Eddie Murphy is a real estate agent and he and his family get stranded in the house.

I just saw the preview for HM as well, and it seems like it takes place in modern day, so not related to POTC characters. However, I also heard (from an official news source, can't remember which one) that plans were in the making for a sequel to POTC with the same major characters. (As long as Captain Sparrow is in it, I'm all set)

Nope, sorry, no tie in to speak of.

Saw the previews of Haunted Mansion last night when we went to see POTC. HM stars Eddie Murphy.

This may have gotten started because the story line for HM ride is tied into the POTC ride story line. I took the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour at DL and was told the background story for the HM.

The two rides are attached? I have heard the back story for The Haunted Mansion on The Keys to The Kingdom Tour, but I don't see how it relates to Pirates. Can anyone help with this?

I was referring to the two rides in California. I don't know if the same story line applies to the rides in FL. The rides are next to each other in CA and are across the walkway from the Rivers of America. From what I recall from the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour, HM in New Orleans Square was built by a gentleman in the "shipping business" and was frequently out "traveling" on business. The mansion was built from his profits. His bride-to-be would wait for him on the Widow's Walk. He eventually met an untimely end during one of his trips. That's why the bride is still in the attic. Anyone else go on this tour and can fill in more of the blanks?

I have heard the story that Master Gracey was a bloodthirsty pirate and his bride had no idea. One day she found a trunk in the attic that had all his treasure in it. She was so upset she jumped out the window. When he found her he hung himself. I forget where I heard this story as it differs from others about the mansion. Also what happened to the other 6 wives?

Here's a great site that has all kinds of HM info...my link takes you to the stories about Master Gracey and his bride. There use to be a website that had a tale and a name for each of the 999 haunts.Doombuggies has a link to it but it seems to be gone now.:(

I don't recall that info in the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour, but i took that in 1999, so it's been awhile. i do know that there is no offical story to the HM.
