Set your VCR's!!! Dateline Tuesday: McCaughey septuplets turn five

So since so many people are taking fertility treatments , should we give all the parents of multiples a new house, new car, food and clothes for years and free college tuition and let them work for just a little more than minimum wage?

Sure if you want to!

I think the point being missed is that the people who donated did it because they WANTED to. Are they horrible people because they had the gall to make these donations to the McCaugheys?

I just don't get the anger on this thread.

Me neither, Kristy. :(
But I seem to remember it every year when there is an update there is also a negative thread to go along with it.

I spend less about $200 or less per month for groceries, usually less than $50 a week so that didn't really impress me...

Do you have 8 children, yourself and a husband? If not, I don't see how you can even compare yourself to them when it comes to food spending. By your own figures, stated above, extrapolate your four person family out to 10 ten people, and your bill would be about $500/month. I would think that you would be very impressed that she can do it for $300/month. I know I am.

cindy, I'm getting the impression that your jealous of her frugal shopping abilities more than anything else.

Ding ding ding!! I think we have a winner.

BTW Dana - great post!!

if you saw she saw that I was impresed, not jealous... really if you factor in her free juices/milk/ with her grocery budget.. she said what 5, 6 gallons a week... that would make up the difference... remember her shopping cart, she had about a dozen apple juices as well.. she said those are free as well..

Milk $3.00 gallon/ 6= 18 a week
Juice $2.00/12 24 a week

18+ 24 = 44 a week

That is the difference right there between $300 a month and $500 a month, due to the freebies....

Not to get into any debate on what others have written, but I was somewhat concerned about the child playing with a bow & arrow fashioned from sticks & string. While it shows imagination, etc, it did seem dangerous with so many small ones running around. And I may be from a different generation, but shouldn't 5 yr olds not be jumping on furniture? There was mention of the father teaching discipline, but they did seem rather out of control indoors. Just my opinion, as they do seem like a nice family.

Oh yeah! I forget about that. I thought the same thing ... "Gee, that looks dangerous. You could poke an eye out with that thing!"

I don't think there is a way humanly possible to contain 7 5-year old who are all hyped up and excited to have a camera crew in their home :).

You know what? It takes more than money to raise a family. I applaud the McCaughey's for stepping out in faith that things would work out. :)

TC:cool:

The bow and arrow thing reminded me of the Soprano's episode a couple weeks back. My kid wouldn't be playing with bows and arrows.

but I don't have kids....easier said than done. ;) ;)
