Ok so I just lucked into a cabana booking for our double dip! We’ve never had one before and looking through old threads has me thinking I need to set low expectations for service as non-concierge guests. Anyone have more recent input on a family beach cabana as not staying in concierge?
Should we plan on being able to take a golf cart? Should we plan on being able to get cocktails or bottled water replacements from a host? I read old accounts of cabana hosts never showing up during the day, even when the button is pressed. Is that still the case? What are people tipping these days if some amount of service is received from the cabana staff?

I’ve never heard that non-concierge guests got a lower-level of service from the hosts. For them, you are a Concierge guest for that day. I would find it very strange that it would be the case. We’ve never had to wait for more than five minutes once we pressed the button for a host to show up.

The golf cart trip is very short and offered from the check-in hut to your cabana, or from there to the tram stop. We usually omit it and just walk the 2-3 minutes it takes to get to our cabana. You cannot drive one yourself.

The cocktails are brought by a server that usually hangs out on the beach and comes to offer his services once in a while. He’ll come around as often as you like if you mention you’ll be ordering from him during the day. He can be fetched by a host if you press the button if you don’t see him around. We’ve never had to refill the fridge, but the hosts are usually pretty good with those types of requests.

We roll our cabana tip in our Concierge tip, so I can’t help with that question.

We have managed to get a cabana several times during our 8 DCL cruises (including our very first cruise!!). They have been on both family and adult beach.

We have always been taken by golf cart from the cabana check in area at the respective beach to our cabana. Sometimes when we have been walking from the cabana back out to go somewhere one of the hosts has seen us and offered a ride on the cart to the checkin area.

I only recall one trip where anyone actually checked in on us during the day.

We've never had need to use the button so can't speak to how successful that is. The fridge was always well enough stocked for us.

The cabana hosts organize/set up the cabana and clean up after you leave it - so some tip should be left. You should not receive any different service than a concierge guest. We have been in a cabana both as concierge and not, same service.
