SERIOUSLY - has our family the 'Magic" to ourselves on 6th August 2011 Med cruise???

And Jude ... have you told them yet?????!!!!!!

Hi Roberta
No I still haven't told the girls yet! In a way I'm really tempted but I keep asking myself would it really add to the holiday to have 12 weeks of "How many more sleeps till our holidays mum". I will tell them more than the 3 weeks in advance I told them about last years but I think I will hold off for a bit longer!

I think I've said before I did tell the girls we would do a Disney cruise again next year (they obviously don't know the Magic is not in the Med in 2012!) so we talk about it several times a week but they have no idea we are actually cruising this year. I'm going to feel just withdrawal symptoms next year when we can't spend our holidays on the Magic in the Med!

Treated myself to a new camera - I am a bit of a photo freak! Took over 1200 photos on the Magic last year and bought the CD from Shutters. Decided I'd like a new camera this year so I am going to have some fun playing about with the settings before we travel this year.

Keep posting and sharing how your planning is going.

Nite for now

We are planning to do a shore excursion in Naples - probably visitin Pompeii and Sorrento. I am looking at booking with Rome In Limo. There are 4 in our party. If anyone is interested in booking with us, please let me know.

Hi South Park

Welcome to our 6th August thread. Who all is travelling with you? Have you cruised Disney before?

I have the ports of call on my weather app of the phone and I have been enjoying checking out the weather in the Med - its a lot warmer than the UK at the minute!

Happy posting

78 days and counting....

I can't believe how quickly our trip is coming upon us.

We finalized the last thing on our trip...our passports....and just in time - Canada Post is going on strike next week! I have to say the baby's passport is awfully cute.

My DS (10) is getting so excited, he was on this week googling Italian/Spanish & French foods to see what kind of things he is going to try out while on shore...he is hoping that he won't come across snails....lol.

We are flying in on the Wednesday (prior to the cruise) from Northern England but heading back to the Rock on the Saturday we get back to Barcelona, our flight is at 11:50pm.

I have arranged for cars from the airport and from the hotel to the port...but haven't booked anything for the return to the airport yet. I can't figure out what time to tell them to pick us up at the dock.

Jude - can't wait to hear about the girls reaction....Keep us posted.

It looks like we might have a small FE group....how many families do we have now? Five? Everytime I go to the store I think, hmmm, that would be good. I have to watch it or I will end up with a suitcase full of FE gifts and no clothes!

I should skidattle....a nice glass of red wine is calling.

Hi Heather

There's just 5 families in our FE exchange so far - here are the names etc
I can send you a private message with the details of each party e.g. kids ages etc. We'd still be happy for others to join - if anyone reading the thread hasn't posted yet feel free to get in touch, we'd love to have you in our fun exchange - I'm all excited about it and have bits and pieces organised too.

Its pouring out of the heavens here today. I am taking the girls to the swimming pool. The conversation will come up about the Mickey and Goofy pools - it always does!! I have to practice keeping my face straight as my smiles my give away our up coming trip if I grin like the Cheshire Cat when one of the girls mentions cruising!!!!

More later folks!

Taking my sister and my two nephews (7 and 9). We have never cruised with Disney before and are very excited!

Today is the first day for signing up for the general activities for the non-CC cruisers. How did everyone make out?

I set the alarm and woke up at 1:30am: I did okay....we got just about everything we wanted. We didn't get the DCL excursion to Rome that we wanted. Which is okay...because I was back and forth between doing it on our own or going DCL.....DCL made the decision for me....we are going on our own!

Silly me though....there were lots of openings for Palo, so I booked for four adults on the Naples night...didn't realise it was pirate night until now. My DS would be very upset if he realised that. Checked again now, and all other time slots are gone except the Rome night so I think I'll hold out and see if anything turns up later.

Last year was our first cruise since my honeymoon in 1996. The kids had never cruised and we hadn't done a Disney cruise before but it was amazing. The girls had a ball, as will your nephews. Disney have it all covered. Living in the UK a European cruise cuts out expensive flights across the Altantic for us. I'd love to sail out of New York or the West Coast next year but I'm pretty sure it will be well out of my price range.

Keep reading these threads, you'll pick up a lot of good tips, I certainly did last year.

So we booked some excursions. We're doing two in Pisa (dd1 and I are climbing the tower, dh and dd2 are doing the dinosaur one), we'll do Rome on our own, we're doing Herculaneum in Naples, and the beach in Palma. We'll do Ville Franche on our own. We booked dinner late at Palo on the Rome night. The only thing left to do is book pedi's for dd1 and I once we're on board. I've also booked our plane tickets and our hotels. I'm getting SO EXCITED!!!!! Plus with the cruise so close it also means my dh is almost home from the sandbox, and that makes me REALLY REALLY excited!!!:rotfl:

That is awesome....I am very excited for you. What a great way to celebrate - a Disney Cruise.

We are doing Villefranche on our own too....I booked a driver to take us around. It is my mum's birthday and she wanted to enjoy a relaxing day with my two boys. And my hubby is excited to drive a Ferrari.:cool1:

We are doing Rome on our own, the boys are doing the Mt. V. hike and the girls are dong Naples with DCL (& we have Palo that night), in Pisa we are going to see if we can do the climb ourselves...if we can reserve climb times (meanwhile we have booked DCL climb just in case), and in Palma my hubby and eldest are going to the Turtle Hospital and the rest of us are going to do the town and head out to the beach.

How exciting....it's starting to feel real....I think I have everything booked now....just the waiting.

Hi Heather

Who have you booked Villefranche trip with and the Ferrari?

Cheers

Hi Everyone,

I just joined the forum and wanted to quickly introduce myself. This will be my families first Disney cruise and first trip to Europe with the kids. We are super excited.

I live in Northern California and will be cruising with my husband, 2 DD's ages 6 (birthday on the ship!) and 2. We are traveling with friends who have a 8 year old daughter.

I am still reading through all of the messages and just started working on booking excursions. I am getting super excited but feel like we have a lot of planning to do in a short amount of time.

I read about the Fish Extenders and definitely want to participate. If someone can just let me know what info you need from me that would be great. You can PM me or let me know how to contact you.

Can't wait to meet you all on the ship!

Kristin

I got quotes from three different companies (the fourth was already booked). I ended up going with Riviera Premium Tours (www.rivierapremiumtour.com). They charge by the number of passengers rather for a full vehicle -- so it was much more economical for the 6 of us. I have the name of the others that were available too, if you want those and their email addresses.

Livenup does the Ferrari tours and they leave from the Eze Perfume Factory and from what I understand they are available all day without booking. Their website is www.drivingexperience.livenup.fr/ . They charge by 15 min or 30 min and the price differs between driver and passenger.

Welcome Kristin, can't wait to meet you too. We are also travelling with a 2 year old! And I am glad to have someone else joining the FE's!

Don't worry about the planning....you still have tons of time. These boards were a great source of info for me.

We have booked the excursion we wanted for Monte Carlo - I woke up at 5am on Monday but it wasn't available! But a couple of days later it came back on. We were able to get an afternoon tour which is exactly what we wanted! :) No Palo brunches or dinners available for when we would like, so might try and get one on boarding. :) We have also chosen our check-in time and we were able to get the first one in the morning, which is exactly what we hoped for! :)

Thanks Heather! It should be fun with the 2 year old. I am trying to figure out our excursions while keeping nap time in mind.

It looks like my oldest daughter will be celebrating her birthday the same day as your mom. I need to plan something fun for her.

Previous Cruisers, let me know if you celebrated a birthday on the cruise and what DCL has to offer. My dd will be turning 6.

Hi Kirsten

Welcome aboard your first Disney cruise - its only our second but I can assure you, after you have done one you'll be dreaming of your second! We did Europe last year and are doing it again this year (different ports both years) and I can't wait! I have three daughters who don't know yet - they will be soooo excited but so far I've just kept it to myself!!

Like you I have a 6 year old, 2 of them in fact - twins called Sarah and Aileen! My eldest girl is 11.

I have been keeping the details of who all wishes to take part in the FE Exchange. You will be the 6th group to join and you're VERY WELCOME. I will exchange all of the details through private messages nearer the time. I hope you enjoy planning yours as much as I enjoy planning mine! Its great fun to participate.

You can pick up some great information on these threads. Its certainly well worth investing some time reading them although I know with 2 young kids it can be hard enough to find time to do that!

Keep checking in with us and posting when you need info or have something to share. Can you private message me with your names etc so I can add all the details to the FE Group - actually I'm not sure if you can do that until you have posted 10+ times. I'll hear from you then.

Nite for now, its almost 1am in the UK!!!

Thanks a lot for all this info - I am very keen on both - will have to give them some thought and work out what suits us all - thank you SOO much for sharing this - I'd never have discovered all this on my own

Hi Kristin and welcome!
My husband and I are also traveling with our 6 year old DD so with Jude's twin 6 year old girls and ours (and of course all the other various age kids) it looks like we can make a proper birthday party on the ship! This is our second Disney Magic cruise but first trip to Europe. We booked way back when :) and have been very excited ever since.
Let me know if you need anything and look forward to meeting you all!

Hi all!
Wow - I haven't been on this board in awhile and I can't believe all I've missed. We passed 100 messages already!

Kindergarten graduation last week for my DD so summer has officially begun for us! She'll be in summer camp most weeks that we are not vacationing.

We splurged before DD's K graduation for a video camera mostly for the cruise. New toys are always fun and this one takes beautiful movies. Looking so forward to the memories both on camera and off that we will make :)

I've been experimenting with Mediterranean cooking the past week or so - lots of fun but definitely different from our standard Florida meals :)

Have a great week everyone.
Randi
