Actually I was told if points were not available right away that those contracts were sold at a lower price. Plus buying a resale is a way for some people to get into a resort that is already sold. If we were to rebuy we would want to buy at BWV so a resale would be the only way to go. We have absolutely no interest in SSR.

This is really not correct. I have seen stripped BCV contracts sell just as high as loaded contracts. Also, for ROFR purposes, Disney does not care if the contract has points or not, as they can ROFR a stripped contract and sell it whole again, so if the price is too low, it will not make it past ROFR.

To answer the OP,

We have 14 contracts between BCV, SSR, BWV and OKW.

We have sold zero!

We bought 220 points in 1994,
We wanted to add on at OKW in 95, but were introduced to VB..
They had an incredible offer going on then, so we bought 150 points from there.
That was all the pointw we had until we moved to Memphis and became a TDS cm..
Then I added on 100 OKW points
!00 VB points, !00 more OKW points, 100 BCV points and finally 130 SSR!!
We have a total of 900.

Original 1994 Membership =OKW 210 + 50 VB (presale) + 100 BCV (presale)+ 150 SSR (member Homecoming) all purchased through Disney Dec UY

Second Membership = 62 OKW + 58 OKW
purchased through resale 2003 but kept as two contracts

you can still buy at a sold out resort. It is $92 per point. Usually the only one that had a long waitlist is BCV.

Bought 270 pts at BWV in 98 through DVC. Picked up a resale in 2000 for 232 pts at OKW.

In past years these suited our vacation habits well, until we went to HI and ended up buying a Marriott timeshare there, so now we have to split our time. Tough, I know Have no intention of selling at this point, but have started to rent our points to friends and neighbors. DH and I figure we'll need all those DVC points when we retire to escape the Chicago winters.

A word about buying points. There are some who would recommend not buying one contract with a huge number of points, but to buy several smaller contracts which would equal the # of points you would want. In the event you had to sell, smaller contracts are easier to sell, and if you had multiple contracts, you could potentially sell one and keep the other(s).

We liked buying one contract with lots of points. There is absolutely nothing that that we would sell it for. It is paid off, and we treat it like our second home. We never once went into this thinking we would sell it and that was in 1992. For some, I can see how smaller ones whould work for them, however, trying to keep track of them I think would be a hassle! I believe just being fortunate to be able to buy, and buy only what you can, and hope you have done the worse case secario so you don't have to sell, is the best way to go in it.

Hi, Debbie. I agree with you about never selling (barring a family tragedy).

Just an FYI, there's nothing to keep track of as long as all the contracts are the same use year. We have six contracts, and it's completely seamless when booking, banking etc...

Another reason a Member may choose multiple smaller contracts, is leaving them to their kids. If you have two kids, it's nice to have a contract for each!
