Sequoia Lodge - Montana Room

Hi, thanks for your reply. That’s a shame you were a bit disappointed with Hunters Grill. Did they have a good selection of cooked meat dishes? It’s just I don’t eat seafood and I’m finding many of the menus do loads of seafood. Would you say Hunters Grill was worth a visit? Did you by any chance visit the other restaurant the Beavers Creak Tavern I think it’s called?

Have you ever been to Inventions? It does look and sound lovely but just wondering if it’s worth the money

How did you find breakfast as I’m hearing that some of the hotels breakfast time can be a bit chaotic? Did you manage to book a breakfast time that suited you? I don’t want to end up with a very early slot but at the same time don’t want the last either.

Sorry for all the questions, everytime I think I’ve asked everything I want to know I think of something else.

If you are in a montana room you shouldn't have a problem with breakfast - you should get a VIP stamp meaning you can go anytime for breakfast. I found it busy after 8, but you wait for a table and are seated by the waiter. Much more civilised!!
I loved the Hunter's Grill, lovely selection of food and even my 7 year old ate her fill - they had huge jacket potatoes and she cried with happiness (which was hilarious and lovely at the same time). The cooked meats were yummy, and with my shareholders discount, I had a lovely "cheap" meal and will be going again! :-) very nice food, different to the Cheyenne/Santa Fe and we refer to it as our posh meal
:thumbsup2

Hi Lisa

Thanks for your reply. You can tell I’m new to this with all my questions.:)

From what I had read, I thought they just allocated you a time so that they never had a queue of people just turning up. So in a Montana room you can go anytime.

I’m glad you enjoyed the Hunters Grill and it sounds like they had a good selection of food. Have you ever been to the Beaver Creek Tavern?

On our last visit, we had booked a standard room, but as it was our Honeymoon I had requested a room in the main building, hoping we would get an upgrade to a Montana room.

On arrival we had been allocated a room in the lodges, I queired this as I requested a room in the main building and the CM at reception explained the rooms in lodges are now newly refurbished and the better rooms. We were also given a VIP breakfast pass, so it transpires that we had been upgarded to a Montana room, eventhough we werent in the main building.

The walk to breakfast etc wasnt actually that bad and eventhough the lodges are outside the main hotel, they aren't that far away. We were just across the path from the swimming pool much to the delight of the kids.

The VIP breakfast pass came in very useful! The 1st morn we ate breakfast at 7am and walked straight in as there was no queue, the next day we ate at 8am, the queue was massive, but on showing the VIP pass a CM brought us straight to the front of the queue and we were seated immediatley. The last morning we ate aorund 8.30 and again jumped the rather large queue. Oh how I loved the queue jumping :rotfl:

If you have a look at my trip report there are pics of of the refurbished room we stayed in....

That is the best thing about a VIP breakfast pass! When you join the queue, the waitress will ask you how many of you and will ask you for your card - you will then be taken to your table on the next one available :-) Makes a world of difference when you've got a 6 year old that likes her toast and it takes 10 years to cook :lmao:

Thanks very much for your reply.:)

I’ve just had a look at your photos of the refurbished Montana room and it looks lovely. We are booked for a Montana room so I’ll keep my finger crossed we get a refurbished one and it’s good to know that the lodges are not too far away from the main hotel. That’s great about the V.I.P. for breakfast I had no idea until yesterday that you received one if you are in a Montana room.

Thanks again for your help.

We got back two weeks today. We were in a Montana room but were never given a vip stamp. We had to choose slots when we checked in. Didn't know that we should have been given a vip stamp it was the first time we stayed there.
