September WISH thread…here’s to a fabulous fall

Hello everyone. I have not had a moment to myself. The last four weeks since school started have been incredibly stressful. I am dealing with major personal and professional issues which include me marching in a protest with other teachers, something I never expected to have to do. I cannot go into details.

The positives in the midst of the struggle is that I only have 18 students because the age to begin kindergarten changed. It’s a good thing because out of those 18, I have 4 with special needs and 7 major behavioral issues. I was observed yesterday by the Executive Director of School Leadership and was appointed as the Kindergarten Exemplar for the district. I was flattered for about two minutes until I realized that I will be observed more than any other kindergarten teacher in the city and will be filmed. So much for staying under the radar.

Finally, I will do some kindergarten math for you:

6 sneezing students + 4 high stress weeks = 1 very sick kindergarten teacher.

I am down for the count.

I am not volunteering to host until mid-October when hopefully things calm down. I really want to do my part in this wonderful group of supportive friends, but I can’t take anything else on. I hope that you all understand.
Take all the time you need! I have been thinking about you!! I hope you feel better!! Hugs!!

Happy Friday!!! We made it!!! What are everyone’s plans for the weekend??

I know I am posting early but I am meeting my daughter in law and granddaughter for a park walk and breakfast in the morning! I am absolutely so excited!! It’s been almost 2 weeks since I have seen them because I have been sick!!

Aside from that I am dog walking Saturday morning with DH and going to our nephews soccer game after! Sunday will be church but besides that we are having a laid back weekend!!

Have a great Friday everyone!

We can't catch a break in this house. The pediatrician does agree with me that they tested DD too late to get a positive whooping cough test and that this is most likely what she has. Which in turns mean this is what I have but it is too late to test me as well. I really wish they told me that you can have false negative tests. I would have made sure they tested me. On top of this it looks like DD has picked up a cold too. She is congested and her cough is getting bad again. Good news it is not COVID. She said there was a kid in her 1 and only high school class that came to school with COVID. So as of right now we are spared from that.

DS got a low grade fever Wednesday night with a headache and sore throat. He was pretty good all day yesterday until last night when he spiked to 102.8. He has a little bit of congestion but mainly complaining of a sore throat and headache. He has a tendency to spike a fever fast and to get really high. He has had 105 fevers before. So I was up most of last night checking on him to make sure the Advil worked and that after it wore off that he didn't spike again. He is on his way to the doctors now to get tested for whooping cough and hopefully strep. I am sure they will do a COVID test too. I am hoping it is just strep. He hasn't really been home much so I really think he got this at school and not from DD and I.

For me I was up all night. I was either checking on DS, coughing or talking with DD who had to be at school at 430 this morning because the band, football team and cheerleaders were on the morning news starting at 5. I think I got about 2-3 hours of broken sleep. I was going to go to the football game tonight but we will see how tired I am. Tomorrow is the band festival and I will go to that unless DD gets worse and doesn't go (it really seems like a mild cold but just aggravating the whooping cough more then anything). Other then that I am hanging out at home.

The weather has been really nice here and we have been able to have our windows open most of the day to air out the house. A few times we have but the AC in the afternoon for a few hours because that is when it gets uncomfortable. Then we open the windows again at night. DH has also been Lysoling everything constantly. We are really trying to not spread this any more.

I too was up most of the night with a sore throat and have had a headache and congestion for several days. Tested for covid again and it is still negative, but that is sure what it feels like. So, I'm canceling everything I had planned: a haircut, a crochet class and my vaccine appointment because they specifically ask: "are you feeling ill". Dang it, I haven't had strong reactions to the other vaccines but don't want to get this one too close to when I leave and have this be the time I react.

So, the weekend will be spent isolating and getting the house ready for me to be gone. Woohoo!

We don't have much going on this weekend - just probably see a couple of movies and maybe dinner out one night. DD1 is going to Salt Lake City today and coming back Monday evening. I'm excited for her - she and one of her best friends are visiting a high school friend who lives there now. That friend has been back a lot since she moved there due to weddings, showers, bachelorette parties, etc and no one has really gone out to visit her, so I'm glad they are getting to go! I know they'll have a great time!

My mom is also leaving on a trip to Branson on Monday. I'm super excited for DD, but will worry about my mom. She really doesn't travel much anymore unless it's with me or my sister. I know she'll have a great time with her friends, but I guess the tables have turned so that now I worry about her and not the other way around lol!

Hope everyone has a great weekend and gets feeling better. Have a great time with your new granddaughter, @PAsFab5!

What are everyone’s plans for the weekend??
We're invited to a "white party" on Saturday - which I'm told is supposed to be one last chance to wear your summer outfits (even though this one is technically after Labor Day) before switching to fall colors.

I've never been accused of having fashion sense, but hey...free food I don't have to cook. :rotfl:

Hello all! Sorry to read of all the colds and what not going around the group!
Not a ton going on this weekend. We have my nieces birthday party tomorrow and that’s about it.
Have two random plants that have sprung up! Just noticed what I think is a pansy coming up through the cracks between the patio blocks and what may or may not be a set of pumpkin vines under the picture window!

I got corpse bride, which is fitting since I’ve been feeling doa.
I spent yesterday laying on the couch, but it was time well spent because I watched a bunch of YouTubes on London. It helped me get a good feel for the neighborhood I’m staying in and what is there. There are several smaller museums, like one for Charles Dickens in the last house he lived in. The British Museum is also close to the hotel and I have a reservation there for Sunday, also for afternoon tea in their cafe. Plus I booked a Sunday Roast dinner at a really nice looking Pub a couple blocks away. Also watched several videos for Edinburgh and will book dinner at The Witchery, for my first night there.

So it is finally feeling real. And this cold crud seems to be progressing quickly so I’m feeling like I’ll be in good shape for travel end of the week.

Not much happening at the moment. Long day yesterday at my BIL for the party…nice day but very long. Went to church, ran to the market, made meatballs for dinner tomorrow. Going to try planning dinners for the week on the weekends so I’m not staring at some defrosted food when I get home from work and not having a clue what to do. And I am hoping if it’s written down and posted the first thing I hear when I get in won’t be “what’s for dinner?”.
Tomorrow is my first barre class at work and with any luck my return to actual dancing later in the week! First real class in about 20 years!

I had a busier Sunday than I've had in awhile. Went to church as usual and then ate out for lunch with my mom and my sister's family. After lunch mom had a list of things she needed help with, so I went to her house with her. We started with her new CPAP machine. She told me that her new machine is actually about a year old, she just hasn't started using it yet! It was a bit complicated - had to download an app, do some testing, etc. Finally got that done and helped her get a few things ready for her trip she's leaving on tomorrow - got her suitcases down, a list of a few things she was afraid she'd forget, etc.

After that, we went to visit my aunt who lives in assisted living in our town. Her granddaughter is getting married in two weeks (my cousin's daughter) and her daughter (aunt of the one getting married) had ordered 3 outfits for her to try on for the wedding. Her daughter lives out of town, so my mom said she would help her try them on. My aunt is 93 and my mom is 80, so it's quite a task for them. They actually did good with it, but I was glad I was along to help keep the outfits organized and help with deciding.

After that I headed home for about 45 minutes before we headed to my in-laws for dinner. All of the kids (my great nieces and nephews) were crazy tonight! Very high energy - luckily they could play outside until it got dark, but they were really wound up!

Finally back home and getting ready for bed!

Still sick but getting better, I did just make it thru a meeting I had to facilitate but it was rough. And today will be a short workday for sure.

Yesterday turned into a beautiful sunny crisp fall day and today is doing the same, so it is sad to not be able to be out in it as much as I would like to. But it is nice to at least look at. And that will have to be my motivation for this week.
