September. ..poncho or no poncho?

From someone who lives in FL: Bring Ponchos :thumbsup2

I prefer to buy a poncho that is sturdy enough to last several trips. Also, I do suggest wearing a ball cap under the hood of your poncho. It keeps the rain off your face, so you don't have water dripping down your front. This tip is especially handy for those who wear glasses.

Have fun! :goodvibes

Yes, buy some cheap ones and if you don't use them, great! When we went in Sept. it rained almost every day and several times heavily for several hours. The first time it rained we were reluctant to get them out and got separated, and by the time we got back to the resort we were absolutely soaked! We were never reluctant to get them out again and we used them several times. Just hang them to dry when you return to your room so they are ready to go the next day.

I leave on Wednesday for a 10 day trip. I'm a California girl so humidity is not something I'm used to. Since an average chance of rain is 40% each day I'm there, should I purchase ponchos for my group? Or are the rain showers generally brief enough that it's not worth the hassle? Thanks in advance.

Depends on how wet you wanna get! I haven't read the other responses, but the storms come in the afternoon and whoosh through. If you take an afternoon break, you can be in your room/resort during this time and it's a non-issue. Otherwise, it's best to have the ponchos on you at all times and just pull them out as needed.

I think the whole idea of the dollar store ponchos is to wear them once and throw them away. thats why theyre so cheap. i bring a few of those to disney. You cant really save those.

The disney poncho's are great but i have two issues with them. 1) theyre HOT underneathe. So very hot. hate it. 2) theyre not portable! do you know how much space those things take up in a backpack??? Not worth it. Which is why i like the dollar store ones. You toss em once it stops raining. Although ive saved them for an entire day a couple times, and it was fine. It didnt break when i used it again.

The rainy days we had were a cool rain so we did not have the issues with them being hot. We took quart size ziplock bags and refolded the ponchos into those and dried them in the shower once back at the resort. We just thought the $1 store ponchos did not stand up to the kids and especially to the guys in our group...to each his own. The moral of the story is...take ponchos...cheap ones or other ones and you won't be sorry!
