Hello :flower3:

I'm a single mother thinking of taking my son to WDW next year. He'll turn 2 1/2 in September and I'm trying to decide if we should go in September or October.

I've never been there for food and wine or for Halloween and I'm thinking he may enjoy being there at Halloween and we could do MNNSHP if there is one while we're there. I was wondering though if September might be less crowded? :confused3

What are your opinions on when we should go? Also is the weather usually nicer in one month over the other. I've only gone in April, May, July (which I hope not to do again) and January.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

September is the least crowded month. The weather will be hot, similar to going in May.

Oct is wonderful! low to mid 80's, crowds are very manageable (except for Columbus day weekend) and MNSSHP is awsome!! F&W is also awesome! I would avoid the last weekend in Sept as that is the first weekend of F&W and likely to busy.

Every September trip report that I've read has mentioned low crowds! I know I was there last September and loved it. We changed to October this year to be able to do some F&W things. I would pick September over October unless you really wanted to do F&W.

Crowds are lower in Sep but Oct is manageable. If you go in Oct you will be able to do the Halloween party because it happens a few times each week. It is also food and wine fest time at Epcot. It is hotter in Sep and somewhat more of a risk of a hurricane. Sep is in the lowest point cost season, while Oct is in the second lowest.

I personally like Oct significantly better because Sep, like May, gets the lovebugs.

September is slower. This year there are 7 MNSSHP slated for September starting on the 11th. If you decide to go next year during the 2nd or 3rd week of September you should beat the crowds and do a party. MNSSHP tickets are slightly cheaper in Sept too.

last week of sept or 1st week of oct.

slow business, MNSSH, perfect weather not too hot like early sept, or sometimes chilly like last week of oct.
have fun!

I have found October can still be hot. We like to go then for F & W.

We normally go for a week somewhere between late September and mid-October. F&W and MNSSHP.

This year we arrived a couple days after Labor Day. It was the least busy I have ever seen it.

To give you an idea, we arrived at HS an hour after opening. Our wait for TSM was posted as 15 minutes, but we were in line less than 5 minutes. Walked right to the glasses area. TSM CMs said they set a record the day before, by not running out of TSM FPs until 6:22pm.

One week after Labor Day, it seemed the crowds picked up some, but still very low crowds.

We enjoyed it enough that we are considering going in early/mid September 2013.

One warning, September has a higher chance of a tropical storm or hurricane impacting your vacation.

Remember, some attractions are down for maintenance in September. Check the schedule for details.

My husband and I were there last week, 8th-16th and it was great. Saturday the 15 was the only heavy day at MK, otherwise it was practically empty everywhere. Compared to other times anyway! lol We are doing a family trip next September with the family too. :cool1:

I like late September - lower crowds, beginning of F&W (altho the 2 yo might put the kibosh on that) and Halloween. Weather is kinda 'iffy'. We've always had better luck with weather and rooms over labor day but no Halloween. :confused3

Heat verses crowds, uhm! September is like June, a bit cooler in the am or past 10pm but stinking hot mid-day but for me who travels to Disney in Jun & Aug it's preferable to the bigger October crowds!

We have done both and Sept was by far less crowded it was really hot. OCt is my favorite. Still low crowds, halloween decorations and slightly lower temps.

I would go in October. Sept will have warmer tempatures and it's still hurricane season.

We've been twice in late October, been there for Halloween both of those times. We hit chilly rain both of those years. So, this year we're going next week. I know Simba's Mom has had opposite feelings, she's going later October!

Thanks for all the replies everyone :thumbsup2

I have decided to go December 3-12, 2013 :rotfl::rotfl2:

After all the talk of hot and crowds and all that I decided I'd rather have cooler weather (hopefully) and see it all decorated for the holiday's. Also my son will be that few months older and hopefully will enjoy it a little bit more. I'm excited about planning a trip and will now be searching for information on that time of year :yay::woohoo:
