Hurricanes aside of course--
We may have to postpone our trip from this Feb., but would like to go in value season, so.....
When do you recommend during Aug. 28-Oct. 4, Nov. 27-Dec. 19.
We would like low attendance, not too hot, but could go any time as we home school and can plan our school schedule accordingly.

I always go at the end of September and the crowds are very low. The weather is unpredictable... it's hurricane season so there's a good chance it's going to rain in the afternoons (actually you can set your clock by those 3:00 showers!) and this year was just wacky... we were there when hurricane Jeanne hit. Sept is definitely risky, but I love going at that time. Temperatures are usually on the warm side, but not as hot as summer... but I'm a Floridian so I'm comfortable in 80 degree weather.

I've never gone in early Dec, but I hear the crowds are also pretty light, plus there's cooler weather and holiday decorations. The weather in Florida at that time of the year is really nice.

I would pick the post Thanksgiving-pre Xmas time period. If you want to avoid heat, then skip late August-early October. We have gone several times in September and it is always warm and humid. Some days are very uncomfortable and with 6 kids.......If you had to go during that time, the closer you get to October the better chance you have of the weather cooling off a bit especially in the evenings.

If you went in Dec. you could see the holiday decorations....

We've gone in Mid November, mid October, first week in December, first week in April, and just this year went beginning to 20th of September. I hated September!! The crowds or lack of them I should say were great, but the humidity was horrible. I'm a theme park commando and I couldn't stay in the parks all day most of the days we were there. My absolute favorite times have been mid October and that first week in December. The weather is a little unpredictable, but much easier to deal with than the humidity! Just my two cents.......

Sept is still very hot and humid and you will usually get the afternoon thunderstorms to interupt the day.

After Sept is starts to cool down and the humidity starts to drop. The later in the year, the cooler it is.

Do not go in September!!! we did and cut our trip early after 5 days of consistent rain.and not just lightly...torrential downpours all afternoon, along with hot, humid horrible weather.. we could not get our sneakers dry ever. was horrible vacation.

if you can pick,,go after thanksgiving...most xmas decorations up, crowds low and just a general good feeling all around.

weather is superb...usually 70ish..

one year we went december it was rather chilly but we dealt with it. as long as there is no rain, you can handle weather
just my opinion though

My experience is just the opposite of minijeanie. Every year except one, we've gone in September. Although very warm, it is still not downright miserable. Then again, I only have 2 little ones to keep up with! And then again again, I live in Georgia and know to expect the heat & humidity.

The one year we didn't go in September, we went in December. The weather bounced around like Tigger! First it was hot/humid, leading to downpours that lasted for hours (this in one day). The next day must have been record lows. It was wet and cold, cold, cold. Really, we had to buy a beach towel to wrap DD2 in to keep her warm in the stroller. Then the next day was nice, maybe 65-70 degrees. However, I think what we experienced was a fluke.

Maybe you could watch the weather reports during the first week of December this year and notice the temperatures/conditions. I think that would give you a better idea of what to expect next year as opposed to the weather I described we had during our December 2002 trip.

By the way, my hat's off to you! You've got lots of love tanks to fill each day, especially with the homeschooling. My DD11 is homeschooling this year for the first time, and I'm not so sure I could pull off what you're doing. :worship:

Early December, after the Thanksgiving rush. One of the slowest crowd seasons of all. Temps average low 70's highs and low 50's lows, but that varies. Been in the low 80's and muggy, been in the upper 30's for lows! However, the crowds levels, and the gorgous Christmas festivities more then make up for a cold spell. Pack layers and be ready for anything. To me though, 65 and sunny is a gorgous day!

We go in Sept and it is always hot and humid. DH loves the heat! It's really good for our arthritis, but it is steamy.

It definately gets less humid as you move into Oct. So you might want to try for late Sept into early Oct and hit a MNSSHP too! If our APs work that way, we always try! It's a blast!

In Nov the weather is cooler, still warm mostly for us Northerners. We used to go then but, DH comes with us now and he can't get time away from work in Nov and Dec. I'd love to go for the MVMCP some year...

Either one will be great! Have fun!

I would go for December and MVMCP.

But, as you can see, I'm biased for December!

Having been during late August many moons ago, That time was too warm for me.
