Could someone explain to me how the dining plan works when you have one baby (2 years old) that's not on the dining plan. I am not worried about him sharing with us (we will have plenty), but I was just wondering how they do it when (for instance) I will probably be buying him an extra drink nearly every meal CS and TS. Do they have to ring up anything we buy extra seperately, or how does that work. :confused3

You will get a separate bill for anything you order that is not covered on the DDP (ex. an appetizer or adult beverage)

We were at WDW in September with my dd who was 2 at the time. We used the dining plan for most meals. I am 99% sure that I never paid for an extra drink. Unless something (other than apps and gratuities) has changed, you should be fine.

Technically, you'll need to pay for anything ordered that is covered by the DDP. Plan to pay and if a CM gives your baby a free drink, then that will be magical :wizard:

Yes, this. :-) We experienced some magic of this type with our little guy last September.

A friend of mine was traveling with a 2 year old a couple years ago and used the dining plan. He said they were not charged for the meals they ordered for the two year old, even though they were supposed to be charged. I agree with the others, just a little extra Disney magic.

We had a two year old on the dining plan 2.5 years ago. IME Whether or not your 2 year old is charged depends on the restaurant.

Fixed price meals (family style, buffet, or a set menu location like CRT): Your 2 year old will get a drink free of charge at these meals and will get a free meal. Even at CRT, out two year old was brought a noodle dish, drink and dessert.

OTOH, we ordered from the menu at Whispering Canyon instead of doing all you can eat, so my 2 year old's drink had to be ordered and charged. But if you order an alcoholic beverage or water you can use the drink included in the plan for your child's milk. We did that quite often as well.

I had actually planned to spend money on milk and such but in the end we did not spend any extra to feed her.
