Hi,

We're flying to Orlando International [MCO] next September 09/09/14 and I was wondering if anyone new what kind of flight price I should be looking for. We want to fly direct with Virgin or BA.

I have just been checking both sites and the prices are just under £550. Should I hold out or book?

Any advice really appreciated as I am not sure what to do :confused3

Thanks

Lyndon :)

For direct flights I'd be happy enough to book at that price. I expect lower for indirect but £550p for a direct flight sounds fair to me. Where is that from? London?

Sept is a slower month usually some lower prices but past years are nothing to go by anymore when booking flights.
You need to book when you are happy with price, sales come and go, did you check yesterday when I posted direct flights next Aug-Sept for £457? (Post #5 in this thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3193403)
They were limited dates, very hit and miss but a few got bargains.

Yes Gatwick.

I am really not sure what to do as there might be a sale in December/January. Even then not sure what kind of price to expect.

Just looked, nothing for my dates.

I totally agree about past years being nothing to go by.

There are so many variables that I have to agree with Wayne - book when you're happy with the price (and then stop looking!)

Our indirect flights in September 2011 were Just under £500 each. Last year I expected to pay a bit more but snagged direct flights plus connections to London for £400 each. That was on a BA sale but those seats went fast! You have to keep checking. Before booking for this year, I had a budget and searched, cleared cookies and searched again about 5-10 times a day before booking.

I managed to get direct flights with VA last September for £467.90 using miles plus money, they were originally £497.90. This year I can't do it as I have no miles to use, so will have to pay full price.

Can you tell me what BA are like to fly with? I have only ever flown with VA and really like them, but would be tempted to fly with BA if the price was right.

They were fine. All airlines are pretty much the same and there is little difference between VA and BA. Their online system is a lot easier to work with than VA and OLCI was a breeze, as was pre paying for extra luggage. We are flying with them again next year on a code share through AA so they can't be that bad. Also connecting through Gatwick so essentially the same route you are doing, with an added domestic connection for us

I paid £575 but that includes our Scottish connections and that is June, coming back in July so I accepted that I was going to pay more than we have for our September flights. I set my budget at £600 per person so when I got the 575 I was good to go. No idea if I could have got them cheaper. I watched the prices go up a bit after we booked but haven't checked again. It's irrelevant so I'm not going to torment myself lol

Thats a good price Lee. And your right once booked it is best not to look. I remember some people saying they had paid £700 odd for september 2012 but I did not see them that high this sept. we all want a bargain and they are there but its a case of checking several times a day.

Thank you for the info on BA.

I set my budget the same as you £600 so £550 is a good price but I have this niggling feeling that they will come down a bit lower. Whatever I decide I will do the same as you and not check the prices after I have booked.

Any idea what kind of prices were around for this September? I should have been looking but we have had refurbs going on in our house and my father-in-law has just died so I took my eye off the ball a bit.
