September 4th (2004) Disney Magic Cruise List

Well, now Delta has cancelled our flight for Monday. So, with a HEAVY HEART, we bid you farewell. Hope ya'll have a great time. We have rescheduled for Oct. 9th.
Please Lord, let us go on this one!
Cindy

Dear friends - please don't risk your lives or the lives of your loved ones to get this "great deal" and vacation - there is nothing can will ever replace your life or your loved ones life.

Other than that, just have a great time if you can go safely and we will sail with you again!

Oh I'll definitely not risk our life or the lives or to be on the cruise. My hope is always that this weather is not too devasting and everyone nearby comes out ok. Then they can get back to normal soon.

Of course, that means they can get us on the ship Monday too! :D

My situation is kind of unique in a way. I'd have taken the Monday cruise if they'd just have prorated my fare for the fewer days. The onboard creidt and 25% off a future cruise isn't anything I'd turn though.

I've been looking at what future cruises we may want. And, if they'll lhave the onboard booking discounts available too. I'll take all the discounts I can get. lol

We will be driving UP from South Florida.

Hopefully, road conditions will be favorable. If not, we will cancel on Monday morning.

We have already told our daughters that we may not be able to take our cruise. They are taking it very well so far.

Unfortunately, we would probably need to wait another year to cruise if we cancel because my husband can only make vacation requests every so often. But...there are far worse things in life than a missed vacation.

I don't like to drive when the rain is only a sprinkle, so there is no way we would risk our safety in a downpour.

I am being very optimistic and look forward to meeting my fellow DIS Boarders.

Rae, I am sorry we won't be on the same cruise. Perhaps we will meet in the future.

Everyone be Careful!!!

Maryleigh

Delta called earlier and our flight into Fort Myers has been cancelled for Sunday. Fort Myers, Gainesville and Orlando are all closed tomorrow.

We're trying now to fly into Gainesville on Monday instead.

Does anyone know if we're able to get a taxi from the Hertz counter in Cape Canaveral to Port? The desk closes at 2pm and we will not get there in time.

Melody,

Can you get into Fort Myers earlier on Sunday or on Monday morning?

If not...Providing that we can make it to Cape Canaveral, we could pick you up at the Hertz counter.

Let me know...

Maryleigh

Hi Maryleigh! The flight into Fort Myers wouldn't get us into Fort Myers until noon. I tried for a later Sunday flight and Delta said they weren't flying into Fort Myers until Monday. So Monday was our only choice. :( I'm so frustrated I could cry.

What do you think?

Melody,

The drive to Port would take about 4 to 4 1/2 hours on a regular day. If the roads were clear and the traffic OK, you would make it, but that seems really risky right now.

Yikes! You sure have had a roller coaster with this one.

You're talking about from Fort Myers, right? If so, we noticed that Gainesville was a little closer and chose Gainesville instead for this very reason. In your opinion, is that what you would have done?

I just hoping the Orlando Airport will be open by noon Monday.

I asked about this to 4 different Delta agent on 4 different phone calls in the last three days and they all said no. For your sake, though, I hope they are wrong!

Have to flight schedule one arriving in noon to Orlnadoand one arriving noon to Tampa. A CNN person indicated today they thought Orlando would be open noon Monday. If not then we will be staying home.

Melody,

Yes, that time is from Fort Myers.

The only problem with choosing any airport is that it is impossible to predict how the roads will be.

The roads from here to Orlando should be fairly clear. But...From Orlando to the Port could be a disaster with people returning to their homes.

I'm not sure what the roads will be like from Gainesville.

CNN is reporting that they expect the Orlando airport to open Monday.

:( I hope not!

DW will be very disappointed if we can't make it. Just in a holding pattern hoping FRANCES blows on by quick.

I'm so sorry! It will take you about 3 and a half hours to Gainesville, stay on I-75 the whole way. There is a nice Hampton Inn there if you need a hotel.
4-4 and a half to the port.

Hi Cheryl! Thank you so much for the advice.

If all goes well, our flight will get into Gainesville by 11am on Monday and we'll be on the road trying to get to Port Canaveral. Embarkation begins at 5pm and the ship is set to leave at 10pm. I think as long as our flight happens, we'll get to Port.

Thank you so much for your support and advice....I really truly appreciate it!

The onboard discounts are great and include a $200/room credit - which we already had, so now we have $400/room credit and have 8 rooms - so that will be nice. :)

I hope we can make it. We haven't broken the news to our little dd who is 4. It is her birthday and she keeps asking when we are going. The older ones - dd 14 and ds 12 are disappointed.

My worry is the ability of the Magic to dock and, of course, our ability to get there. We are heading to Valdosta tomorrow and leaving early Monday morning for PC. Please let us know abou the roads, or if anyone hears anything from Disney.

See ya'll on the boat. Worse case scenario - we'll be on another boat in a few weeks :)
