well ginny since you've been to cc since we have, does the konk kooler still come in the conch shell cup on the island? on last year's frances cruise the one i got at dinner in pc came in a clear colored plastic cocoanut, it tasted great but was not the same as drinking one in a hammock on the family beach wqatching dd and the other kids out in the water.

I think so...I usually get mine on the adult beach -- in a regular plastic cup. :goodvibes Just think, in a couple of weeks, we'll be enjoying our own Konk Koolers!!!!

Welcome Tucker....

You are gonna love this group of people. We have really had the best time geting to know eachother and preparing for the cruise. It helps to have an outlet for all this excitement. And in the planning, I think we may have established some friendships that will go beyond the cruise.

We also have a 4 year old son, he is Zachary. He is really excited about meeting his friends Brady and Kevie, and a bunch of others. We have been preparing our children with names of some of the kids that they will hopefully spending A LOT of time with in the Kids Clubs!! :cool1:

We are glad to have you. I am trying to make t-shirts for each child, if you could PM me with you girls sizes that would be great. Also my husband, DisneyDadJax is making name tags so please include the names of everyone in your party, city and state, and the girls ages so he can add you to his extreamly organized data base and have name tags for the DIS meeting at 3:00 in the promanade lounge (I think).

OH by the way, my mom and stepdad are going too. So there will be other grandparents along. Aren't we lucky to have they to travel with us!!

Dining poll:

Do you have early or late dining?

We have early dining.
Ginny & I have late seating.

Welcome Tucker99! I wonder if you can change dining assignments after you get on board, if they have room, maybe at guest services??

As for our dining arrangements, we have the early seating.

Thanks Ginny, for the drink tips!! Believe me, I will be trying both the Konk Kooler and the Bon Voyage (and probably more than one!) Both sound so yummy!!
:drinking1
Anyone else have any yummy specialty drinks you've gotten? (you can tell its getting close to a vacation, all I can think about is laying in a beach chair with a drink in my hand!!) I think I read somewhere that someone had a Bailey's Banana Colada and that sounded yummy too!

Can you believe its only 12 days? Its going to be hard to work this next 2 weeks!!

Welcome aboard Tucker99!!!!! :cool1:

We're fixin' to have a Secret veranda DIS meet after the life boat drill and we need a volunteer to bring another 2 kegs of grog!?? Can you handle this? LOL! OK... maybe we have enuf on hand already. Oh - and actually we assume you know you're invited to our DIS meet at 3PM in the Promenade Lounge between Parrot Caye and Lumieres' (deck 3). The secret veranda is deck 7 aft as far as you can go - the veranda access is not marked but just keep going aft if ya wanna join us after the boat drill.

You know... I was thinking. We have such a nice gathering of genuine DCL enthusiasts that why don't we ask the purser or cruise director whether they can get a character to come visit us during our DIS gathering? I know this sounds out-rageous and unlikely - but I was going to look into the possibility tomorrow. I figure we can ask and there's no harm - right?

So... I looked at the pirate costume sites and they really look great (thanks Lisa and all)... however we are not quite decided on which one we'll try. My spouse sez our daughter is so petite that she probably needs a toddler size rather than a child's small. So unfortunately all the decent looking costumes at a tolerable price are child's smalls. I did notice a few ebay costumes in toddler size and so on - so we might try that. I also just picked up a goofy looking tricorner pirate hat - so I have th emakings of a pirate costume for myself. It is pretty basic for me so far.

And just for laughs.... I found a TOGA costume on super clearance at $5.99! So we can in fact pull off a Toga party on the cheap - or rather we can maintain a uniform toga appearance for cheap. Of course, the DCL staff will probably think we are genuinely insane if we did a toga party at any level. Here's the link for laughs... :grouphug: http://www.halloweenstreet.com/store/products_detail.php?catid=&subid=&pid=PE8222 and no... I'm not making a serious proposal for such.

SO - I took a long time to draft this - so I imagine someone else might have posted something in the mean while.

Oh Tucker... if your 4 year olds want an email pal send something to our daughter Julianna (also 4) and we'll get a few notes and photo links swapped so our kids will develope a little early excitement and anticipation for having friends waiting for them at the ship! If you like - just send an email to MAGIC4XTC@hotmail.com and allow a day or two for replies.

So our TA tells us we can still select early or late dining. We are uncertain which way to request... and off hand it does not seem to matter much to us which way it goes. What is everyone else's dining shift? :p Oops - just saw that Lisa has already posed the question of asking folks whether they have earlyor late dining. Frankly - I don't know what I have but I assume I can find out what was initially assigned. I just tried checking the DCL site online but it seems to be down as I get a "sorry charlie" reply - so there is always tomorrow.

OK... gotta run and finish some errands before the sunsets completely.

Adios! :pug:

Late seating for dinner here. Either DW or I never seem to get home before 8 or 9 pm on a regular basis.

We have the early seating. On our last cruise our kids were falling asleep during the shows so I don't think they would make it during a late seating. My oldest likes to get up as early as possible in the morning though so after a long day in the hot sun he was wiped out.

Captain, you should totally go for the toga! It is totally you (yeah, I know I haven't actually ever seen you, but I know it is). It would only be appropriate that the one who brings the kegs should be wearing a toga. That way we can shout TOGA! TOGA! and we can get the party started.
I am totally just kidding for those new to the board. I don't want to scare anyone off.

Lisa702, I love your "official" name for the treasure hunt. Thanks so much for organizing this. Do we already have a plan of what we will be doing on the hunt? I am absolutely no help on this since I don't know where a single hidden mickey is on the ship. Just curious and would love to know what all they are going to be doing.

See you guys later
Robyn

Ok, I checked out the website and I must say it is a nice Toga costume (the guy looks nice too :rolleyes1 ) !!!
I love the description "a piece of white fabric that can be wrapped around the body" (could that be a sheet??) But you do get the headpiece too.
I say go for it captain! haha! Maybe you could combine it with the Pirate geer you're buying... (A pirate at a toga party? hmmmm)

Dave and I are at early seating.

BBC is my favorite DCL drink.

WelcomeTucker99. We're grandparents of 5 precious babies. They are not sailing with us. We're waiting for them to get a little older. They range in age from 3 years to 4 months.

I have to agree with you the guy did look :earseek: pretty nice, although I have to admit I didn't check it out until you posted that he looked nice. :rotfl: Curiousity got the best of me! :rotfl2: Or the worst maybe? :confused3
Heck Captain if you just need "a piece of white fabric" Walmart sells fabric for a dollar a yard! Depending on how daring you are that could be mighty cheap! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Pirate Treasure Hidden Mickey Hunt....

That IS a great name Lisa! Thank you so much for all your incredible effort in rallying us and doing so much. This is shaping up into so much more than I originally thought it would be. I'm going to volunteer to be a digital photgrapher for the event... if that is OK with everyone. I have a bit of a reputation with my friends for shooting a lot of photos.... so this way I can post a link to an online album for everyone to enjoy. Plus, anyone who wants a copy of any images to print on their own can just email me with requests for specific files or the whole set on CD (FREE). That should be better than inviting ships photographers to shoot pix of our little gathering and Hunt.

Of course, I'm sure everyone will be snapping their own photos as desired - but I'll have a consolidated set for community sharing among ourselves here on this thread. If anyone has reservations or wants to opt OUT for what ever reason then they should let me know - and I'll avoid photographing your family (kids mostly) and deleate any images with them accidentally included.

BTW - I do a lot of volunteer photography for Julianna's school - most of it is very casual and some of it is "set piece" and mildly nice. I'm nothing extraordinary as a photographer - except to say I shoot so much that I eventually capture a few unusually nice moments.

So... DisneyFanForever... if I'm going to do the Toga thing it has to be with AT LEAST one member of each DIS family (on average) dressing similarly. I amy be a little crazy - but I'm not quite THAT unstable to be the only one in full costume at the DIS meet. I admit I like the idea though. LOL!

Maybe we could do it if we get a character to attend our DIS meet - and then maybe we could get the character to dress in a Toga! So - if we get a character to come - do you suppose the ship would send some nice appetizers and such? I imagine we can request room service to bring a bunch of things for light snacking to the lounge - right? It would be just gratuities, eh? Nothing huge - just enough for a festive snack for a few folks who might have interest.

So in closing (for the moment).... you know - with all this joking around with kegs an' all.... I don't even DRINK liquor anymore! Except light liquor on rare occasion.

OK.... adios while I set my LURKING aside to have a meal. If I keep on refreshing this DIS page I think my right thumb may get shorter! For that matter - I better cut back on the Ebay for a few minutes to eat and let my thumb recover the few angstroms of length its' lost this evening.

And yes... I like the dollar a yard costume deal. And no - I'd be embarassed to tears unless we had a significant GREEK prescence, a few kegs, pyrotechnics off the fantail and two cans of silly string for every child under age 70 among us! Plus a 3rd can of silly string for those who are a little more unstable than me!!

 :badpc: :rolleyes1:

captiancrash- Let me save you $6 bucks. I have a whole stack of those "togas" in my linen closet. :rotfl2:

Oh yeah, we have late seating :earboy2:

12 more days!!!!

Captain
The digital photos will be great souvenirs for the kids (and us too)! Thanks so much!
I have to say though I have no volunteers from my family to wear a toga although Skye's in bed :cloud9: and I haven't asked her. :rotfl:

Before anyone "opt in or out" of my volunteer photography....

Here's a link to a few casual shots taken just a few minutes ago of our gentle dog SUGAR with the left over container from my dinner... plus a few selected photos of our girls after their day in the pool today. You can just barely see my spounse in the background of one photo... plus it might be a little nicer (and fun) if you click on the icon of an "eye" titled watch show. This will present an automated slide show with a random selection of music. Some computers will block the pop-up slide show so you'll have to enlarge each thumbnail and advance one by one to see them larger. Check out my little girls with their ice cream AND my SUGAR with his evening treat!

all right, all right, all right!, it gets closer all the time.

i counted on seeing valiant, sky high and herbie on the cruise, we put kids off and saved the money for those at the theater. i didn't see hitchhiker's guide at theater, so i am glad it 's on the bill, since i am a big fan of the books, afraid we won't be seeing any sequels, though.

we're on the late dining plan, being central time zoners who eat late as it is, i just couldn't see eating at 5 our time. plus we like not having to rush to get ready for dinner if we are on an excursion or doing something on the ship.

now for the serious, just heard from our weatherman that a wave has left the african coast, time for our good thoughts, prayers and pd, keep that thing from being more than a wave and moving north by northeast, completely away from us. :goodvibes :sunny:

suzanne, tell zachary that jordan is looking forward to hooking up with him and the other boys for club time.
