September 3, 2005 --- Who is going?

hey ginny, i checked on the date of arrival for our docs last year for cruise the same weekend, the first one to post on the thread last year that docs had arrived was about a week behind this year's first docs receiver. ours from dvc didn't come until the 14th, so i guess i expect them to come about next fri.

i don't know if it was just because it was from dvc, but ours came ups.

ginny, i've been forgetting to get my nascar picks in the last few races, so here's mine for this week, just for fun. jimmie, jeff, tony, matt, and rusty, spare: kyle busch. and doctorp had gotten a tracking number for his docs last year so he could follow the path to his door.

Pogo -- you probably have time to post 'em....head over to the NASCAR thread before it's too late. :) I'm hoping we get our docs next week!!!!

Robyn -you're going to need some rope, a large dog, some popcorn, and a sheet to build a trap for the mailman (well, the popcorn is for you...it could be pretty funny). After you get the money back, bake some donuts. Then get a large piece of poster board and a sharpie. You'll also need some concrete nails. Make a sign giving the delivery person their choice....yummy, fresh donuts or four xtra large flat tires for your docs. :goodvibes

If you guys need a good laugh, there is a really, really funny thread on the community board at

DD6 Skye did not like the kids club last time but now that she's older she'll give it a try. :cool1: She loves the Powerpuff Girls and My Little Pony but her favorites are horses. She has been taking riding lessons over the summer and I think she has found "her thing".

I'm hoping my daughter Cassie does like it better this year (we were on the Sept 18th cruise last year). She didn't go to kids club much...didn't really get into it. But I'm sure if she knows a few other kids it would be different. (I sure hope so!
Cassie loves all girly things, jewelry, barbies, babies, and she adores all animals (including horses, but especially dogs). I bet Skye had a blast going to riding lessons (I know I would!)

We were on the Sept 27 Wonder which turned into Sept 28 and only 3 days because of Hurricane Jeanne. Skye didn't like the clubs because they were "too dark". I am hoping she will at least stay there so we can have a dinner and then a brunch at Palo and I have booked the spa Exotic Surial, but I have a feeling I'll end up cancelling that.
Skye LOVES  her riding lessons. She goes every Saturday for an hour and she is doing so well. I have not told her that she will be missing 2 Saturdays when we cruise.
She also loves all animals :paw: :paw: We have 2 dogs :dog2: :pug: of our own.
Our 2 girls sound like they could be fast friends. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thanks for sharing! :rotfl2: Your story was too funny! :rotfl:

Hi everybody!! Time is sure moving along. Loved the catch the Mailman, UPS man stories and plans. Whatever you do Robyn...make sure that you get those DOCS, my 2 boys are very excited about meeting and playing with your boys. Josh is also looking forward to meeting MickeyManiac's Alex!! And Zach now is ready to meet Wendy's son!! YAHOO!!!! Maybe all boys will have buds and they won't want to be with us.

Finally sat down this AM and attempted to combine the many lists: who needs what, who has what, what goes in daybag, etc. I now have them all in a central location and hope to knock off a bunch of stuff this afternoon in the "still need" dept. Frank is taking the boys to see Skye High and I am shopping. Pray the Shopping Gods are on my side and I accomplish a bunch. I have a question... :confused3 I don't remember from our last Disney cruise...Can boys wear nice dress shorts to dinner or do they have to follow the no shorts rule too? I have a couple of nice casual shirts that look so much better with shorts. Thanks for the input!! Have fun and see everyone 4 weeks from today.....

<<<<Frank is taking the boys to see Skye High and I am shopping.>>>>

Hope they enjoy the movie. My DD Skye thinks the movie was named just for her. :rotfl:

MickeyManiac, I didn't realize you had a son around my oldest DS age. Tyler is 8, how old is Alex? Hopefully, Mom2boyz2000's Josh, my DS Tyler and Alex can be great friends and want to stay in the lab for hours. Anyone else have kids around this age?

4 weeks from today. I am so excited. Now if I could just get those docs. Ginny, I like your plan about the mailman. Unfortunately, our dogs weigh 7 lbs (our 10yr old Yorkie, Chandler) and 4.5 lbs (our new Yorkie, Sydney) so I don't think they are going to work in the plan very well. However, Chandler does have a mean streak when it comes to strangers and has been known to run out of the house to try to attack walkers on the sidewalk so he may work after all.

I can't wait to meet all of you guys. I feel like I know you all already.

GDulany....

WHAT A HOOT!.... I'm still reading through the thread you referred for laughs: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=879916

I could not make it through the first page without calling my spouse to run over and read quietly - we don't want to give our kids any IDEAS now do we? So - while reading my spouse and I were chuckling so hard we had to take a break (My spouse wandered off smiling, and wincing!)!!! Thanks for the heart warming (and mildly frightening) thread referral! :rotfl:

:Pinkbounc Regarding the DIS meet - anyone not having expressed an opinion please post an opinion before 12 Noon Monday (if you wish) and select from either the Promenade Lounge on deck 3 between Lumiere's and Parrot Caye (A/C) or the SECRET "Rock Star Style" VERANDA on the fantail of deck 7. We can post a little DIS sign on the door that leads to it (until a cast member takes it down) and... here is a site that lists directions/instructions on how to access it complete with photos of the actual door and what the secret veranda looks like. Look/google search for Castaway Club or disney cruiser info/secret.htm then look for "ships secrets". Or simply google search the key words "Disney Cruise Line Secrets". :wizard:

From the photos the secret veranda looks to have about 18 reclining lounges and space enough for our gathering. I must say it looks nice .... and our running tally is suggesting significant interest in both options. It may become an option to meet initially in the A/C Promenade lounge at 3PM and then at a predetermined time (say 3:45) we could wander out as a crowd to the deck 7 veranda (weather permitting). That way EVERYONE will be happy.

Frankly - we stand at 5 votes for the Promenade; 4 votes for the Secret Veranda; and 2 Neutral votes. However, after having looked at the photos and description of the deck 7 area - I am considering switching my vote in favor of deck 7 - but if I did so then we might have a flurry of vote switching which might create a moment of DIS chaos. So I will NOT change my vote and set a precedant - besides - I don't want to run back and filter through 50+ postings to double check who voted and switched.

Anyone who has not already voted please contribute an opinion if desired before Monday 12 noon.

Aside from that - we're STILL waiting for our docs. Oh well... :confused3

Maybe if Cassie and Skye meet right away, they will be glad to get away from us! I've also booked Palo and the exotic surial. Maybe both of us will be able to go and do our own stuff for a little while. That sure would be nice!!

captaincrash: I think you have a great idea - Promenade lounge at 3PM and move outdoors if it's a beautiful day :flower: . Thats my vote. Anyone remember what time we have to be on deck 4 for our safety drill?

I believe the safety drill is at 4pm. That said, I like your idea Capt C....if we started in the Promenade Lounge, at whatever pre-drill time...then maybe folks could meet up after the drill at the SD-7 veranda and pop a beverage of choice. Then if folks wanted to stay out on the SD-7 veranda for any portion of the sail off or head to the official "Sail Away" party, they would be conveniently located. Guess I still sound undecided. :) I'll work on that....while making water balloons.

Ginny

I like the 3pm meet at the Lounge as we have 13 other family members to get together with for the sail away party.

13 other families? :grouphug:

Well - if that's the case then we have at least 48 people (24 couples) + kids of varying ages. So - do you suppose sticky name tags for DIS screen identities would be OK for use only as we mingle among ourselves? I'd be happy to runout and get some to "contribute" ... unless someone among us already has a few on hand to "donate". It might make for easier intros, eh? :smooth:

SO - if the life boat drill is really at 4PM then 3:45 might not leave us enough time to even walk over to check out the veranda on 7. And staying in the lounge may be practical if not all of us are more or less "johnny on the spot" at 3-ish.

Lets' say that if the vote continues towards Promenade - then we gather initially there. And if most of us are checked in (among those expected) then maybe by 3:30 we herd on over to deck 7 - weather permitting.

AND.... whats' this about water balloons? I thought "rock stars" didn't douse their adoring fans off fantails with balloons .... or was there some other sort of mischef in the making?

Now... you're NOT thinking of using the balloons to douse OUR pyrotechnics off the fantail ~ were you? ;)

AT any rate.... further votes are welcome.... only 36 hours til the voting will close.... :rolleyes1

as far as nametags go, i'll have my lanyard on with my kttw card in it, don't know how many others have them, but we keep ours on most of the time, so much easier than carrying wallet or searching pockets all the time for key.
if you don't have one and are dvc member, our last cruise they gave us special dvc lanyards, along with ballcaps.

Four weeks from today, I will be enjoying a cappucino at Cove Cafe waiting for my DH to wake up.

My vote is Promenade Lounge for the DIS meet. Naturally, AC is great. Also, public restrooms are around the corner from Promenade Lounge if any of the children need to use it, as well as adults. Since we have to be at our designated stations for the drill by 4pm and it lasts no longer than 10-15 minutes, the suggestion of meeting on Deck 7 after the drill is a great idea. The sailaway party starts at 5pm. That will give us time to get there before it gets too crowded. We're usually on deck 10 for a while for the 5pm sailaway, then head to deck 4 to enjoy watching the ship go out to sea (less people at the railings).

My DH is laid off for the next 3 weeks and his plans are to pack his bags for the cruise.

Jan

Captain...I think nametags are a great idea. Thank you so much for taking this "leadership" role of counting votes, nametags, etc. I guess the "Captain" is a very appropriate name for you. Thanks a bunch from all of your crew members. :)

Robyn- Alex is going to be 11 this week. He's a bit older than Tyler, but I'm sure they'll get along great. He is exchanging e-mails with other boys from our group and says if Tyler is intrested he would love to add him to the list. Just send me a PM and we'll work out the details. :earboy2:

Zachary now has a pirate costume. pirate: Another thing off the list!! Actually I started a very official cruise packing list on the computer. I am trying to compile all the other lists I have around. Hopefully the computer won't eat it or anything. This is my attempt at organization. Frank thinks I'm CRAZY  , but he doesn't pack for anyone but himself and he plans for no unforseen circumstances....sickness, ****oos, loose buttons, etc. So he really has that part easy!! Another ??? We have talked a lot about what the men are wearing or not wearing on formal nights, but I haven't seen much about us girls. So ladies, help me out here, how dressed up are you planning on getting? Oh well, back to the list.
