September 29,2013 - DVC Member Cruise

Hey Deernut!! Thanks for posting the pic! We had such a fabulous time! SOOO much fun! Can't wait for the next trip!!!:cheer2::cool1::beach:

For any of you who have done this before, how does rotational dining work on the 4-night cruise? We're accustomed to the 7- (and 14-) nighters where it would be LAPLAPL (Lumiere, Animator's Palate, Parrot Cay), for example. I read a Disney Dream TR that said they had RAEE (Royal Palace, Animator's Palate, Enchanted Garden). I know that you can start at any of the three restaurants; I'm just wondering why it wouldn't be RAER in this case. :confused3

Having walked the Okinawa and Iwo Jima WWII battlegrounds, I have the utmost respect and admiration for the "Greatest Generation" because of what they suffered through and accomplished for our freedom. I pray that their sacrifices are never forgotten. Semper FI!

i also have had respect for all who fought. My dad who just past away at 94 was shot twice after they landed at dunkirk. When he fought their scottish regiment fought in kilts. Wasnt long after that they stopped wearing them in battle. My dad never talked about the war.

I would love to have animators twice. Best dinner for the kids.

OUR WAITERS WERE GREAT. WE HAD A TABLE KIND OF IN THE MIDDLE OF ANIMATORS. SINCE WE HAVE BEEN BEFORE I NEW WE WERE TO FAR AWAY TO HAVE CRUSH TALK TO US. WE HAD THE GRAND KIDS WITH US WHO HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. SO ON THE SECOND NIGHT OF ANIMATORS WE WERE DELIGHTED TO FIND OUT OUR WAIT STAFF HAD ARRANGED TO SEAT US RIGHT BESIDE THE SCREEN. THEY KNEW THE PEOPLE WHO WERE SITTING THERE WERE ALL AT PALOS. I WORE MY CANADIAN TOQUE TO ATTRACK CRUSHES ATTENTION. IT WAS GREAT HE TALKED WITH ME AND THEN GOT THE KIDS INVOLVED. THEY LOVED IT.

ANOTHER THING THE WAITERS DID FOR US WAS EACH NIGHT THEY ARRANGED SPECIAL DESSERTS. LAURA AND I LIKE THE GRAND MARNIER FROM THE ROYAL PALACE. WE USUALLY GET 2 EACH.:rotfl2::cool1: MMMMMMM. WE HAD ROYAL PALACE THE FIRST NIGHT AND I TOLD THE WAITER LAURA AND I DONT NEED THE DESSERT MENU WE LOOK FORWARD TO GRAND MARNIERS :rotfl2: THE NEXT NIGHT THEY BROUGHT US THEY BROUGHT US 2 SPECIALLY MADE FOR US. ON THE THIRD NIGHT OUR WAITER TOLD US THEY HAD ANOTHER SPECIAL DESSERT FOR US. CHOCOLATE SOUFLAYS FROM PALOS SPECIALLY MADE FOR US. :thumbsup2:cool1: ON THE LAST MORNING LAURA AND I ALWAYS HAVE PALOS BRUNCH. WE NOW REQUEST MARKO UP THERE TO BE OUR WAITER. HE WAS THE ONE THAT TOLD US OUR WAITER FROM OUR REGULAR ROTATION CAME UP TO PALOS LAST NIGHT AND HAD THEM MAKE 7 SPECIAL CHOCLATE SOUFLAYS FOR US. THATS A PALOS SPECIAL DESSERT.
LIKE USUALLY I MAKE A SHORT STORY LONG. I STARTED OUT TALKING ABOUT ANIMATORS AND ENDED UP TALKING ABOUT OUR DINING EXPERIENCE. I GUESS IM JUST SAYING THEY WILL GO THAT EXTRA STEP TO MAKE YOUR CRUISE MEMORABLE. I WILL REQUEST THEM FOR NEXT SEPT TO BE OUR WAIT STAFF IF THEY ARE ON THE SHIP.:thumbsup2

when is pirate night and when is the at sea day on this cruise?

It looks like the dining rotations are the same as the other 4night dream cruises. but I'm confused as to how all three rotations work if they close one dining room for each seating on the member cruises.

We were our first cruise this past may on the fantasy. Out wait staff was awesome, my DD turned 3 onboard and at the time would only eat vanilla Ice cream (she calls it 'white ice cream') on the nights she wasn't feeling her dinner they would coax her into eating for her treat. I wish sometimes they could come home with me. We didn't get a reservation at palo last time causes the only availability was pirate night and my DD wasn't feeling kids club for more then a hr at a time. Fortunately she is over it now and hoping to get one this time. My DS is over excited to go to Cabanas he loves the buffet, asked me at least once a month when we can go to a place like on the cruise ship. Can we ask for a table near a screen in Animators ahead of time? That would be fun if the kids can talk to crush, we always go to turtle talk at DL.

P.S. short story's always turn long. I can't help it either. Hahaha! ;-)

The day at sea is definitely on Tuesday, 1 Oct (between the two stops at CC). I believe that Pirates IN the Caribbean will be Monday, 30 Sep.

I'd love to know about the dining rotation so that I can plan when to go to Palo!

Well as I am no longer on this cruise, I of course have not been posting. For fun I looked at the point/cash chart for this cruise. All I can say is are they freaking kidding? What they want for one person on a11B is what I am paying for two people on the 10/6/13 cruise and what I was pay for this cruise before they turned it into a members cruise. I hope you guys enjoy but I can't see how much free stuff they can give you to justify a 100% increase in price. Oh and the price for two with cash is over half of what I am paying for the 14 night westbound Panama Canal cruise in May

Yes! God bless the "greatest generation". My Father was a WWII vet as well. He was a sergeant in an Army Recon platoon serving in Germany. He had 11 kids and never spoke a word about it to any of us. After his passing we looked up his service record and learned that he had been awarded 5 Bronze Stars and earned slightly over $300 total pay for 2 1/2 yrs. of service. I'm sure there were many, many more just like him.

Thanks to all of them!

I DONT THINK THEY WILL BE SHUTTING DOWN A ROTATION THIS TIME. LAST SEPT I THINK WE ONLY HAD 2500 ON THE SHIP. WE HAD 3 SERVERS AT DINNER. I DONT THINK YOU CAN ASK FOR A CERTAIN TABLE BUT YOU CAN REQUEST YOUR WAIT STAFF . IF THEY ARE ON THE SHIP THEY WILL TRY TO ARRANGE THAT. AS FAR AS ANIMATORS WE WERE LUCKY AND I MADE SURE I WORE A CANADIAN TOQUE TO ARRACT ATTENTION:rotfl2:

When I was stationed in Okinawa, my wife and I volunteered to be tour guides for WWII veterans who were returning for the 50th commemorative of the Okinawa Campaign. (We spent about 8 months studying and walking the terrain so that would be able to help them.) I remember one vet who brought his family was very quiet and barely said a word at the beginning of the tour. By the end of the week, he was telling me all about his experiences, the buddies he had lost in combat, and what Okinawa was like back then. His family told me that it was the first time in 50 years that he had said a single word about the war!

This seems to have been quite common. Ordinary people did their duty in an extraordinary way and simply went back to their lives and put it all behind them.
