September 29, 2012 - Ropin' Some Magic in the Western Caribbean

A few more trivia questions....

1. What tune does the ship's horn play and what Disney movie is it from?

2. What is the name of the daily activity planner on the Disney cruise ships?

3. Disney was the first cruise line to include this in the stateroom bathroom.

I love swagbucks. I use it to search for info and use the points to get Amazon gift cards! http://www.swagbucks.com/?cmd=home

1. The first published sighting of a Hidden Mickey was made by Arlen Miller. Arlen wrote an article back in 1989 on Hidden Mickeys for WDW's Eyes and Ears (Cast Member weekly publication) in the parks. This was the first time it was made publically known and then months later the author was contacted by Disney News for more infomation for an article on Hidden Mickeys.

2. Fincantieri shipyards in Italy, in 1998

3. 950 cast members

Of course, you are correct on all three. Thank you for the new resource. I used three different website for the answers.

Has anyone made a countdown calendar? Since it is approaching 50 days, I wondered. If anyone has, I'd love to see pictures! I'm not making one since I don't think Lucy really cares.:rotfl2:

We don't have one yet. I homeschool my kids though and we have one of those monthly calanders with movable dates on the wall...like you'd find in a classroom. The dates are pictures of apples with the number on them and then they have special holiday ones. Back when we went to Disney World in 2009 I made one of the blank apples into a Disney one by adding a mickey mouse sticker so we use that to count down to all of our disney vacations. It won't go up until September though.

Thanks for posting this. You have inspired me to go make one today. I'll post pictures when I'm done.

I am posting for the first time in a long time and hoping I am doing this correctly! We just booked for the Sept. 29 Magic cruise from Galveston! This will be our first cruise. We are celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary - spent every one of them so far including HM with Disney! I have read about FE and Secret Mickey and don't know how to sign up for our cruise. We have our room number. We are arriving by car. Where can I find EASY no sew instructions to make the FE. Also door decorations? Any limitations? Thanks - DH and I are very excited!

We just booked the cruise and I love your idea! Let me know what I need to do to get ours! Thanks!

Welcome! :wave2: This is also our first Disney cruise and fish extender gift exchange. You've found the right place. There are many newbies and experienced Disney cruisers. There is much to read and discover here and on other threads. I see you found the google spreadsheet so you have secrued the most important thing for now.

I just realized that my FE gifts are NOT going to fit in the FE pockets. Is it possible to put a name and cabin number on the gift and leave it at guest services and put a card in the pocket about where to pick your gift up? Does anyone know if this is possible?

More Disney Magic related triva:

  • On which deck will you find the Buena Vists movie theater on the Disney Magic?

  • What is the largest cabin on the Disney Magic and how big is it?

  • Why are the lifeboats yellow on the Disney Magic?

How about a bag hung on the door or a clothespin to attach to the FE?

I was just wondering if anyone wraps their gifts in paper. I know my kid loves to tear the paper off the gifts. Does anyone know if Disney would have an issue with us bringing wrapped items on the ship?

I made our FE but I think the pockets are a little small. I'm sooo not good at these kind of things!! I was thinking about attaching a clip or hook of some sort to the bottom of the FE. That way, if someone's gift is too big they could use that. I haven't quite figured out how to do it though. :confused3

I know if you put anything on your door that it has to be held on with a magnet. I'm not sure if you can leave things at guest services or not. Isn't the fish an actual clip? Could you use that maybe?

I don't think they'd have a problem with it...especially if it's not in your carry on. They probably wouldn't care if it was in the carry on either.

I won't have any room in my carry on for FE gifts (bringing wine! :)) That's one of the things I love most about the Disney cruise...they are pretty laid back when it comes to what you can bring on the ship.

Haha, i totally had this same thought last night. Our Fe that we bought on etsy arrived and I was like...uh oh my gifts are way bigger than those pockets!:scratchin

So I think I'm going to just label everyone's individual gift in a plastic baggie and put all the individual gifts in a gift bag for the cabin...then just hang it off the fish or set it by the door? I guess we'll see, I'll definitely write the room number and family name on the bag to prevent it from "walking off"
