LOVE your door sign ! Great job !

I can't believe you have one just down the street and you're not a member!!! Ours is 30 minutes away and I gladly make the trip just to browse around. Plus, you can return anything (other than computers and TVs which have a 90 day return--but they extend the manufacturers warranty for an extra year) if you are ever not satisfied. And their gas prices are typically about $.12 to $.15 cheaper per gallon than where we live.
Trent,
I can't tell u how many times I thought about joining.......my concern was more about not having room to store items in bulk. I don't have alot of storage in my house. I don't have a basement---only an attic and you can't even stand all the way upgright in it. So my hesitation was all about where do I store these bulk items. But I will give them a second consideration....thanks again for the head's up.

I can totally relate. We recently joined and also had the worries about storage (we have a small kitchen and small pantry). But I don't think you have to be one of those people that goes and loads your cart up to the rim. Don't buy things in bulk that you're going to have to store for an extended period of time. We buy things that we know we're going to use up within 2 weeks. And not everything that is sold in bulk is a deal so you really have to know the prices you pay at a regular grocery store and then decide if it's a reasonable price. We go to Costco with a menu of our meals for the week, a pad of paper to write down the item and cost and a calculator. So, we're not just randomly buying things.

Trent - you're lucky on the gas prices. Our Costco gas prices have only been a couple of pennies different than those at the regular pump.

Happy Labor Day everyone!! Emphasis on the "labor" as I'm laboring away cleaning the house in time for guests to arrive :headache:
Good thing I'm not going to be the one bbq'ng as it's almost 100 degrees outside!

Maria: Thank you!! Have you made your door sign yet?? I have to reprint mine as I realized I misspelled something.

I'n not sure if my questions earlier has been answered: Is there a separate entrance fee for the MSNNHP at the MK? If so, how much is it??

Well, back to cleaning up......:laundy:

Yes, there is a separate entrance fee. You can buy the tickets in advance for about $41.50 adult/$35 child 3-9 years (including tax); if you have an annual pass or are a DVC member, there is a discount. Day-of tickets are $7-$8 more, but they can sell out in advance. I haven't been in years, but it was pretty neat last time I went. We're going September 14, so that we aren't suffering from sleep loss as we climb on the boat (you guys who are going the night before are real gung-ho vacationers - I just don't think I have it in me to stay up that late and then get up the next morning and start vacationing!!).

Have fun!

Thank you JDBlair, that's so sweet of you!

MiaSRN62,

The spring type floats are only aired up around the edgeof the netting that is in the middle so they blow up in about the time it takes to blow up the pillow on they other kind of floats, which is another reason I love them. And, they're going on sale everywhere. Everytime we take them people ask us where we got them.

Another tip for our newbies:

The last night of the cruise, all checked luggage must be placed in the hallway for pick up by 11 pm. Don't forget to keep all UNDER GARMENTS, shoes, toiletries, meds, clothes etc because you will not see your luggage again until you are off the ship. I'm sure you don't want to be getting off the ship in your jammies!

Also, when you get your docs from DCL that arrival date for the Bahamas will be the day we are at Castaway Cay.

We plan on getting to the MK after 4 pm----then it's just the cost of the MNSSHP tix. So you wouldn't need to use a hopper day.

You're welcome Pauline....no, haven't done my door signs yet ! I'm so behind. August was such a hectic month for me. I gotta get working on it.......but I love yours.

JDBLair,
I honestly do want to check the Costco membership out. Do you or Trent know if they offer free trial membership ? I know they used to years ago.

Oh yes MommaLuvsDis.....we have those !

Words of wisdom ! We saw a few in PJ's our last cruise ! Now I doubt we'll have this problem early in Oct in FL, but on our last cruise we were taken by suprise. Spent a week in the Carribbean in Nov and it was hot. Docked in Cape Canaveral ....got off the ship at 9:30 am to all of 48 degrees !!!! All we left out for ourselves were shorts ! But I don't think we should see this on Oct 6. It's still pretty hot in FL that time.

Happy Labor Day to all......I'm on-call tonight and hoping they don't need me.

Unfortunately it was either stay up late or don't do the party at all!:sad2: So we chose to stay up late of course!:confused3 We are going to take it easy on Friday as we are actually flying in on Thursday. Wished they would have has MNSSHP on the 6th or 7th but no luck. Anyway the way I figure it is we have 2 sea days to recover!:goodvibes Probably gonna come back exhausted anyway because we have plans at WDW for both days:rolleyes: so I took an extra day off from work and only go back for a three day week!:cool1:

MiaSRN62, I was on call this whole weekend, thankfully it only involed a few phone calls and a quick trip to solve a glucometer problem!:confused3

Hello All,

Late entry here, but count four more in for the Sept 29 cruise. My wife (38), me (36), and our two boys (7&6). Our littlest one (1 yr daughter) is skipping this one and is spending time with Grandmom and Granddad.

We are all excited about the cruise. This is our first cruise in a bit (2005 4 day DCL), and the first 7 day trip with our boys.

See you all onboard!

P.S. -> thanks for the very cool signature graphic.

Pete

Welcome!! This is great new for my DS who is 6.

LAWalz23, we have the exact same schedule!! We're flying in Thursday night, taking it easy on Friday until 4, and then heading to MK for the MNSSHP! Then, we have the 6th to do either Sea World (which we've not done before with our girls) or go to one of the WDW parks (which we've done twice before!) Hmmm..

Groovy, as for MNSSHP, the Disney site says it starts at around 7 pm, but you can actually get into the MK at 4 (or 4:30) with the MNSSHP tickets. That way, you have 3 hours or so to ride all the rides, and then the actual Halloween party takes place from 7 or so until midnight. DH and I can't wait! The girls of course still don't know about any of this. Can y'all believe I've kept this secret so far! :yay:

Very cool secret:woohoo: Wish my parents gave me a surprise like that when I was your daughter's age! My sister's kids are very excited, she only told them a few months ago!

We're flying in on thursday too!! We're just going to take it easy on thursday (note: must buy wine on thursday to take on the cruise) and then go to MK on friday.. we haven't decided yet if we're just going to go to MK at 4:30 as suggested (thanks for that great tip!) or go the whole day and go back at around 9pm.. BTW, will there be fireworks at MK? pixiedust:

For those doing the MNSSHP, your kids will be in halloween costumes then? I can't wait to take pics and video of my DD trick or treating in DisneyWorld!! What a treat! princess:

LAWalz ~
Glad your weekend wasn't a total bust.....
I worked all weekend and did indeed get called-in tonight. It's now 2:30 am and I'm wide awake thanks to work....:rotfl: This morning is the first day of school here....the kids will be up at 6 am.

We are flying in Thurs night as well ! Plan to take it easy Friday until the party when we'll go in the MK around 4 pm.

Pauline,
The MK does have special MNSSHP fireworks.....it should be a very cool night. As for costumes, we'll probably just wear our Pirate of the Caribbean shirts/hats. In the past, we all dressed up, but my kids are teens now and don't think they want to go all out. There's usually a decent amount of people that dress up and you'll see lots of little girls as princess'. You'll get some great video and pics.

Gotta get to bed now.............

I wasn't planning on doing laundry but maybe will take a sample size just in case? And normally I'm a big planner but I really need to start making my lists, thanks for the reminder JD!

Trent - we were surprised this weekend when Erik started looking at the car reservations figuring I missed something, called up Budget, and they put in the special Costco code for $23.90 for the full size! Then, I think, he said the free upgrade brings you to a premium car?! Anyway, thanks for posting it (and I didn't realize we needed to print a coupon for the upgrade, thought it was automatic). I thought it was a fluke and told him to e-mail the reservation to us so that we can bring a copy in case they don't want to honor it.

Hope everyone had a nice and relaxing Labor Day!

Welcome Pete and family! Too bad your dd isn't coming, mine will be 17 months.

Btw, I just got an over the door hanger this weekend at a dollar store (ok so it's SUPER ugly but I'm throwing it out after the cruise anyway) - it's very flat and should take hardly and space in the luggage, I think gro0vy was concerned about that?

Hi Ibela... Yes I was concerned about space.. I'll try to see if we have a dollar store here somewhere.. I think there's a .99 cent store, but it's a drive away :sad2: If I do get one, I'll have to ship it in a box along with some other "disposable" stuff i.e. beach toys.

23 more days to go!!!!!! Even my DH is singing "we're going on a cruise" which gets me singing and my DD dancing around singing :dance3:

My plans this week is to arrange for transportation from my DH's cousin's house to the port and from the port to MCO.

Happy tuesday y'all and happy 1st day of school for most of our kids!!!!!

We are flying in a week before, doing WDW and then MNSSHP on Friday night. Kids got there costumes yesterday. Us too. (Jay and I got....pirate costumes.) My DD and Dniece are doing Bibbiti Bobbiti Boutique and then we are going to do MNSSHP.

Cruise is for relaxing. Can't wait.:cool2: :coffee:

FYI for those of you with DS's they sell Jack Sparrow costumes at Costco.. I think they're less than $20.

Gr00vyChc :hippie:

We finally were able to confirm our contribution for the goody bags. Put us down for pirate pinwheels. :flower1: Kids should find plenty of wind up on deck to have some fun with these. :dance3:
