Hi Groovy ~
Yes, MNSSHP is in the MK.......the kids can trick or treat. They hand out small/tiny bags, so she can bringer her own bigger one if she likes. There are CM's at different stations handing out candy. Then, at the end of the night, if they still have more (which they usually do), they'll give you a handful as you exit the park. I'll see you there on the 28th if you decide to go !!!! :wave2: We'll be there in 25 days !!!!! Can't wait !!!

Cooooooooooool! Then I won't have to buy extra candy to bring to on the cruise!! Thanks so much for the info! Are you guys having a DISmeet at the park too?? 25 days!!! whoopwhoop (for JD) wooooooooohoooooooooo :yay:

For those of u bringing over the door hanger (I'm thinking of NOT bringing one), is there really no room for toiletries for 2 adults 1 child on the bathroom counter??? I'm TRYING to pack light :upsidedow What else is on your MUST bring list. I'm thinking of bringing a can of lysol 'coz I'd like to disinfect disinfect disinfect everything :rotfl2:

Whoop Whoop but we're not going to WDW. We debated that, heavily, when we decided to book the cruise but we decided we wanted this vacation to be strictly R&R. I'm a little jealous of all of you going, though. I've never been to WDW so I don't really know what I'm missing. But that party sounds like fun.

I am bringing the door hanger for a couple of reasons. I hate clutter. I hate searching for things. It's not so much for toiletries as much as it's for sunglasses, cameras, watches, you know, the little stuff that lays around. So, it's more for me to use to organize the clutter!

I am going to bring Lysol for sanitizing as well as stinky! :rotfl2: My "must" list is relatively small - Downy Wrinkle Releaser, sunscreen (that's a given, I think), ginger, papaya tablets, chapstick, flashlight, baby powder (I read it helps take the sand off your feet!), pain reliever, but that's about it in the "must" department. I have so many lists going right now. A list of "what I need to buy", a list of "don't forget to pack" and the list of "what we're wearing to dinner".

Soon, I will be making a list of reservations I need to confirm so there are no surprises when we get to Florida!

Are you guys having a DISmeet at the park too?? 25 days!!!
I would be all for that ! Anyone doing MNSSHP on Sept 28 ? I think Zane Anthony is ? I might be wrong on this ?

I am also thinking about the over-the-door hanger. The bathrooms and rooms are tight. They say Disney has some of the larger staterooms among cruiselines---I would really hate to see the cruise lines with small staterooms ! Not a whole lot of sink space. You can check out some great pics and video here (there are some specific shots of the bathroom) :
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-photos.htm

Count me in for lysol and room spray. I also like to bring an air freshener. We don't have a verandah this cruise (we're a porthole room), so I like to keep my cabin fresh smelling. ;) :) :flower3:

I need to get working on my toiletry bag checklist. Some things I'm bringing :
advil, bonine, prescription meds, alka seltzer, benadryl, ginger tabs or cookies, saline/contacts, tums, bandaids, chafing cream, sanitizing hand wipes, shampoo/conditioner(we like our own), sunscreen, lotion, powder, deoderant, toothpaste/brushes, powdered laudry detergent/dryer sheets......I know there's more because we manage to fill a big duffle bag !

Would there be enough time to go the MCO check in our luggages, leave for Downtown Disney and get back to the airport by 5pm? - our flight isn't until 6:10pm. I don't know how far Downtown Disney is from the airport nor familiar with the traffic flow.

Is there another place where we can pass time other than Downtown Disney?

JD: Does the downy wrinkle remover work well?

OMG!!!! I had a dream that I was already onboard and I passed by this long line of people and wondering what that line was (I was on the way to the pool) and LATER ON found out that it was the line to change ressies for PALO!! which I completely forgot about!! So I ran frantically to Guest Services and I was told that I couldn't change or get ressies for Palo anymore!!! :scared1:

Groovy, the airport is about 45-60 min from the port. Once you drop your luggage off, you can get to DD in 30 minutes----so allow a minimum of 30 min each way.
So if you're off the ship by 9 am, you could be in MCO by 10-10:30 am. Not sure how long the lines will be in the airport so that could be a factor (we prefer to use the skycaps at the curb to check bags). Once you're checked in, you can get to DD in 30-35 min. So there would be time.

Looks like my list.. except for the detergent part, I don't PLAN to do laundry  ... maybe dryer sheets to keep the dresser drawer smelling nice.
Here's my list: lysol, advil, dramamine (non drowsy & children's), nausea patch (I still have to go to my Dr.), ginger tea, benadryl, immonium ad, cold medicine, small emergency kit, antibacterial gel/wipes, personal toiletries, HAIR STRAIGHTENER, hair dryer, curling iron, sunscreen, favorite perfume, and I won't ever ever forget to bring lanicane (sp?) for sunburn!!! (lanicane is the one that u spray on so u won't have to touch your raw.. eeeewww sunburned skin).

We went on a RCI cruise in 2005 and the room was super small. It was just DH and I but it was pretty cramped. We could not move around the room at the same time. One of us would have to stand still so they other could get where they needed to go. Also, our bed was pushed up against the window so the only way to see out the window was to crawl over the bed. :sad2: I'm eager to see our room on DCL!

My Mom said it does and I've read on the main forum a lot of people mention it. I haven't used it. I bought a small travel bottle.

I'm going prepared to do laundry because there are 4 of us and you just never know. :laundy: I may not end up doing it because I do plan to pack enough clothing to last us. If I do laundry, it will be a load or 2 on one day, probably Wednesday.
I didn't give my entire list! I've never heard of lanicane. Is that better than aloe?

I don't PLAN to do laundry
Honestly I don't either.....it's just in case I "need" to. I did have to do one small load on our last 7 night. The laundry rooms can get terribly cramped and claustrophic when more than 3 people are in there.

One of us would have to stand still so they other could get where they needed to go.
JDBlair,
I can honestly say to you it's not that bad on DCL. Disney is the only one we've ever cruised with so I can't compare, but from your description, I can say it's not as bad as your RCI cruise----doesn't even sound close. So I believe you'll be happy :woohoo:

As for lanacane. It's a very good all purpose itch/pain control medicine. http://www.lanacane.com/index.shtm

I think I will actually get some. Aloe soothes a burn, but lanacane sort of numbs it a bit ? I think I'm describing that right. I'm hoping none of us actually need to use it :scared1:

Hello All,

Late entry here, but count four more in for the Sept 29 cruise. My wife (38), me (36), and our two boys (7&6). Our littlest one (1 yr daughter) is skipping this one and is spending time with Grandmom and Granddad.

We are all excited about the cruise. This is our first cruise in a bit (2005 4 day DCL), and the first 7 day trip with our boys.

See you all onboard!

P.S. -> thanks for the very cool signature graphic.

Pete

Hi everyone.

I see some of you are thinking about taking the over the door shoe holders for your toiletries. Let me say that the vanity in the bathroom is super small unless you're in the Walt or Roy suite.

We always take the holder as it really saves space and time trying to find something.

Also, if you and your family are flying, put everyone's clothes in each other's bags. For example, you, DH, and children are flying. Put 2 pair of underwear and shorts and shirts of yours in every bag and do the same thing with their things. In otherwords, mix it up. That way, if the airport looses one of the bags, you at least have a couple day's change with you. Hopefully, they will find and forward the bag.

pahrumpgirl and I, along with our DHs, will be at the MNSSHP on the 28th as well and would enjoy a Dis meet. Let us know if you're interested.

No documents yet but we usually get ours about 2 weeks before we sail.

For the newbees, let's start a hints list for them.

Don't forget to wave goodbye to the CMs standing at the dock as we start to sail away.

The shows are great each night, don't miss them.

The CMs walk around with drinks at the sailaway party. These are "virgin" unless you request otherwise and are not free.

Soda, milk, tea, hot cocoa, etc can be found at the dring station by the Goofy pool on deck 9. Can't find it? Just look for the kids, they always find the drink station.

Soda is not free from the bars or room service. It is free at the drink station and with your meals in the dining rooms.

Don't over obsess about clothes for dinner. Slacks and blouses for the ladies and Dockers and polo for the men is just fine.

Take a lightwieght sweater as the theatres can be a little cool.

You will be VERY close to the equator. Wear sunscreen and wear a lot of it.

Don't worry how you will look in a swimsuit. You will see tiny people and you will see poohszed people. Just enjoy yourself.

I will dig out my Navigators from my March cruise and see if I can come up with any more tips.

On the last night of the cruise, don't miss the "Til we meet again" party at 10:15 in the lobby atrium. Bring a tissue! Be standing on deck the , the atrium not on four looking down on the celebration. You'll be glad you did!

Anyone care to add to this?

Welcome, Pete!!! :cheer2: I love "the Dawn Patrol" name. That kind of describes my family. My DD's (7, 5) are up at Dawn and sound like elephants crashing through the forest every morning! :rotfl:

Groovy, you probably already know this, but just in case... MNSSHP is in the evening at MK. If you go to MK or one of the other WDW parks during the day, you have to buy separate, special tickets just for MNSHHP. I didn't realize that at first and thought I could use a Park Hopper in the day and then stay at MK in the evening for the party. Luckily, I read the DIS boards before I bought the park hopper. :disrocks: We opted for doing just MNSSHP and spending the day in our hotel pool and Downtown Disney.

Wow miss one day and three pages later.

I have updated the first page to include TheDawnPatrol Family and to update the goodie bags. Talk to you all soon. :cool1:

:welcome: TheDawnPatrol! This is a great group to join!

I am bringing Bonine for sure! I love Downy wrinkle reducer, and will probably bring a bottle. I did learn from another dis thread to press your clothes off before hand and put them in seperate ziploc bags one for each day. I think I am going to try that this time. They also said it helps with airport security so they are not rummaging through all your clothes since the bags are see through. I did not take an over the door organizer on our last cruise and didn't miss it. I keep all mine items in a square makeup case and get my things out of it each day.
One tip that I found out later in the cruise is that the Cove Cafe has some great pasteries, biscotti, etc. in a glass case near the door closest to the adult pool that are free and delicious!! Wish I had found out sooner!
Have a great Labor Day!!

In looking at all the pics I have seen of the DCL rooms, it doesn't appear to be anything like RCI so I'm not worried. I know it's going to be tight but we'll survive.

Thanks for the info about lanacane. I just got back from shopping and didn't see it in the aisle for aloe and sunscreen and now I know why!!

Welcome, Pete and family!! We're a great group and love having people join us!!!

Thanks for all the tips! Especially this one!!! :lmao: I could just see DH taking a sip and getting this look . Why is the rum gone???

I have heard about the pastries in Cove Cafe but didn't know if they were free or what. Thanks for posting this.

I have a tip but I've posted it before. Don't wait until the last minute to go shopping!!! I have been to 3 stores before I found Bonine. I cannot find the laundry soap in a travel size so my aunt recommended I go to a laundromat and buy it there. She's a genius!

And I thought of something today. Instead of buying the photo mat, you can also buy a poster board and make your own mat. Probably cheaper that way.
