Anyone have any experience with Lyft family?

We always had Uber but it also has food and other things and that makes it difficult to know what is going on with charges. From what I understand, Lyft is strictly rides so there is zero confusion so sharing is way less complicated. I just wanted to know if anyone uses it for a family and if it works the way it says it should work?

our family of 4 has used Lyft several times. But my kids are no longer in car seats, so I can't speak to any of car seat availability in Lyft cars.

Sorry but can’t help. In NYC, Uber has a bigger presence than Lyft so that’s the company I use.

Not only does it have a bigger presence, the drivers tend to be safer. Every time I have heard of a crime, abduction, rape, it's with a Lyft driver. They really don't vet their drivers well.

Here, Uber EATS has a totally separate tab than Uber for rides. They are not that hard to get confused. One shows rides, in which you have to input an address, your current location, then pick a type of vehicle.

Uber Eats has photos of food on the page and you have to pick a restaurant or type of food, input an order before you even get to input an address of where it gets delivered. There is no way to get them confused. Maybe you have to update the app?

Yes, but they can both be charged to the card on file.

We've only used Lyft, never Uber. Mainly because Uber didn't seem to have a presence in the location I was when we first needed it. We've used it multiple times for a family of 4 and have always been satisfied and felt perfectly safe.

So you are asking about "Lyft Family" which is the option to link multiple user accounts to the same payment method, right? You aren't asking about the service using larger vehicles that will transport a family and provide car seats if needed. I think some responses were the 2nd not the first.

If I share with family I am ok to cover rides but not meals & other things so it seems if it only does the one it would be preferable to families.
If you want a "family" account so you can pay for your kids (teens? young adults?) rides -- I would think kids of that age are old enough to be given parameters. Such as "I will pay for your ride when you need a ride but you will need to find a different method of payment if ordering food to be delivered."

Neither Uber nor Lyft have much presence in my area so I don't have experience in that. However, I do have a young adult child who doesn't drive and thus uses a taxi. She pays for her own rides -- she's in school but has a part-time job and earns her own money for her own needs. Arranging her own transportation is a big step towards independence. If i want to help her out occasionally I give her cash equivalent to the expected expense.

It is my impression that many of the same people work for both. I still consider all of them a type of online taxi service. You never 'share' a ride with others which would be my definition of something like a car pool. You request a ride and they take you from point A to B. When on vacation I would rather rent a car and be able to go where/when I want and not depend on strangers to get me there.
