What are some of the benefits of a DCL cruise vs. the 'other' cruise lines?
I have noticed that the DCL are much more $$$, but Disney does have excellent service and standards. Which areas does DCL blow the other lines out of the water....:rotfl: ? I am looking at the Cat. 5 rooms. I am also a vegetarian, do they provide veggies alternatives?

Being that this is my first DCL I don't know how they blow other lines out the water (cute), but hope they do. We're in a Cat 5 as well, so I hope it's really nice! As for food, just looking online at the menus there is always at least 1 vegetarian option available and I'm sure if you told the waiter you were a vegetarian they could probably put together different sides and make you a plate that way as an alternative. Also, I'm pretty sure when/if you book they ask if you'd like to specify any dietary restrictions so that they can better accomodate you. If you click on the 'Dining' link at the top of the page on this site, someone was nice enough to scan in their menus so you can actually see what's offered. I won't look right now b/c it'll just get me hungry, but you should feel free to check! popcorn::

Just wanted to get us on to the first page . . :surfweb:

We've been having super crazy weather in the NY/NJ area. Within the past 7 days it's gone up to as high as 60 and we've also had a few inches of snow with the temperature down to 20s. Gee, I sure I wish I was on the cruise instead.

Ibela, sounds like Cleveland weather! Last week was really crazy here in Northeast Ohio. We had a mild earthquake, a tornado, seventy degrees one day and the next morning an ice storm and snow! Crazy!

It's been in the 90's+ here in Phoenix but the water in the pool is too cold to swim in. Talk about torture!

I don't know if we're getting off at any ports and even if we do, if we'll go on any excursions, but I do know this: I fully intend to sign-up for the margarita/tequila tasting. Anyone else in? :dance3:

I am not sure about margarita/tequila tasting, I am more into the daquiris/rum but I think I want to try some martinis. Just to see all the different kinds they can make. :drinking1 :rotfl2:

Any idea on the cost of these wonderful diversions?

Tequila + me = bad mix. I won't be signing up for it but DH might. How much is it?

DH and I did the margarita/tequila tasting. We really enjoyed it. The cost was $15.

We'll be on the board for the Sept. 29 Eastern Caribbean cruise! My daughter will be celebrating her 4th birthday on board (October 1st). We're all soooooooooo excited! Only drawback according to my hubby is that there is no casino:yay:

It will be just our little family, my hubby, me, and my 3 year old daughter.

I'm so excited! I just can't hide it! I'm about to lose control and I think I like it! :woohoo:

:wave2: Hi,
:welcome: glad   to see new people coming with us. Tell DH there is time to gamble and there is time for family, DCL is for family. He'll have a good time without the casino..
gg

Welcome Gr00vyChc - my dh is the casino type too so I'm actually glad there isn't one on this boat, last cruise we went on he went to the casino EVERY NIGHT. It's bad when you know everyone on your excursion by what game they play.

According to the all-knowing DISers (I swear, these people know EVERYTHING) all the tastings are $15 and quite a few have said the martini tasting (which would normally be my 1st option) wasn't as good as they expected because it's mostly "regular" martinis (original, dirty) rather than the specialty ones (apple, french). That said, I'm totally game for getting giggly with my new online buds! Wonder where that drinking icon is . . . . ?

Thanks for the warm welcome you guys! We have other vacations to go to before our cruise, but they don't seem to matter at all... :)

I don't think I will go for the margarita/tequila tasting either 'coz my system rejects tequila... :sad1:

My daughter is only 3 and won't be able to do that dolphin encounter, so I think we're just going to chill on the beach and maybe walk around town during our stop at a port. Sounds boring? Any other suggestions for a family with a 3 year old?

Is anyone else worried about it being hurricane season? We would go on any other dates, but my daughter's bday is October 1st, so we HAVE to take this cruise date.

See you guys aboard!:flower3:

:welcome: GrOOvyChc I'm glad to see so many young kids. My Kids will have a lot of friends to play with.

:drinking1 I'm all in on the tastings. I think we'll do all of them. With 4 kids under age 6 I think we'll need more than a few drinks. Just to keep us from going

Glad you are also part of disboards (just no nagging about the different family if multiple family on boards). :rolleyes1
