September 29, 2007 - Magic

Aaaaaaw that is so excitingl that y'all are going together! My friends and I are all planning to go with our families before our kids start first grade ('09). I hope it will be as organized as yours!

Can I pose the question again: Is anyone worried about it being hurricane season and all? Has anyone else cruised around this time of the year?

to all new mates coming aboard ! This includes GrOOvychc and llarkiniii (Lester) !!!

I fully intend to sign-up for the margarita/tequila tasting. Anyone else in?
This sounds like a distinct possibility ibela !!!

We'll be on the board for the Sept. 29 Eastern Caribbean cruise! My daughter will be celebrating her 4th birthday on board (October 1st). We're all soooooooooo excited! Only drawback according to my hubby is that there is no casino:yay:

It will be just our little family, my hubby, me, and my 3 year old daughter.

I'm so excited! I just can't hide it! I'm about to lose control and I think I like it! :woohoo:

Welcome! My DD will turn 4 October 15th so not quite a b-day celebration for her on the boat but close enough!! I bet they'll be friends!!! :hippie:

I'm worried but I'm not going to let that stress me out. If it's meant to be, it will be. Also sounds like Disney does a lot to avoid the storms so, let's just go with the flow and trust that we'll be hurricane free!!!

I'd do the Margarita and beer tasting! I just can't do straight shots of tequila or it's hangover city and I don't want to spend any time on the boat hungover. :scared1:

:welcome: to the new family ! Glad you could join us. I am not too worried about the hurricane possibility, everyone assures me that a cruise ship in a hurricane is a safe place to be so I am trusting them. They say that your ports may change but that you will be safe. However I am sure come September I will live logged into DIS with my TV on the weather channel :rotfl2:

Hmm...I am not sure about the tastings. I am not big on martinis or margaritas but I might try it for something different. Now if they had coloda or daquiri tastings I would be the first one in line. I can't wait to taste the banana colodas they talk about on the top of the mountain in St.Thomas! You don't read much about them on DIS but they are pretty popular on cruise critic and they mention them on the Sunny Liston website as well.

I'm allergic to bananas.

Also, isn't there some banana drink they serve on DCL that everyone is in love with as well?

This will be our third cruise in September. Our first in 2004 did get shortened from a 4 to a 3 nt (which definitly made us want to go on another longer one) due to a hurricaine. And it has not stopped us from going again. The prices then are great and Disney was very good to us and gave us the option of rebooking and gave us some money back. Our 2nd cruise was AWSOME no rain or anything. The captian even said that it was the best weather he had seen. So you just never know. Try not to worry about it :goodvibes and if we have to go to a different port at least we are not at home:woohoo: and like I said Disney is really good at working with you if something does happen.

Glad to have you aboard!! Also Welcome to llarkinii!!

Okay, it took a couple of weeks but it's here. My Deluxe Passporter. I had it shipped to DH's work with warning that he would soon learn my true obsession with this cruise. He called me this morning, "Do you know what you ordered?" with the tone that said, "You didn't tell me you were this obsessed." I squeaked out, "Yes, my leather bound, planner type Disney Cruise book that will become my Bible!!!" :cool1:

Is anyone worried about it being hurricane season and all? Has anyone else cruised around this time of the year?

My parents have cruised the last 3 years in September and have not had a problem at all. They say it is the best time because the weather is hot still and it is much less crowded at the ports and on the ships.

Don't worry - it will be great! :thumbsup2

I have some normal reservations........but no more than I would with cruising in Dec/Jan/Feb/March.

In the northeast (as an example), we get awful snowstorms and just had an icestorm last Friday. Philly airport was closed all weekend. This was the second or third time the airport was closed due to weather, and there have been countless more delays. My husband had a 15 hour flight delay in Dec into Orlando out of Philly (had we been planning on cruising, we would have missed the ship !)
Some people were still sleeping in the airport as late as this past Tuesday from this most recent sleet/snow/ice storm on 3/16. Snow and ice storms anywhere in the country can cancel any vacation plans. Just because FL and the Caribbean might be having gorgeous weather in Feb or March, doesn't mean the rest of the country is and this affects travel big time.

So there really is alot to worry about in many different seasons, and I try and take it with a grain of salt. What happens will happen. Makes me consider how much trip insurance is an important thing even more during hurricane season and northeast winters.........

Let's all keep our fingers crossed ! I've cruised twice before in the first week of Nov, which is the tail end of hurricane season and had perfect weather. I'm hoping we all have terrific weather !

Thanks for all the positive outlook. I will try not to worry. But I'm from California and we're such babies when it comes to bad weather! A little drizzle is bad weather for us..

:welcome: to all our new shipmates. Looks like quite a bunch. We're gonna have a lot of un:woohoo:

Margarita tasting: I may get in on this will have to see when it comes time to cruise. I've only had 1 margarita and that was a few years ago in NM. But it was good, also HUGE, which is why just the 1.

Looks like I have to go back more than 4 pages and see again where to start catching up. My bad week last week as moved into this 1, but now i'm on a 3 day weekend from work and Lord knows i need it.

I'll come back later and see what i really should post. I gotta question about disneycruise.com.

I'm trying to see how many rooms are booked on the ship for our cruise and I haven't figured out how to do it. I'm all registered and can call up my reservation and stuff, just can't seem to bring up a room chart, just basic cabin descriptions. I know its getting full cause the prices went from when i booked. So if anybody here knows how to do that I'd appreciate the info. TYIA

Happy weekend everybody

Well it is official!! :yay: Our group is booked and we are ready to go.
Let me introduce our crew.

Cabin 3
princess: SIL Paula
pirate: DS Henry (4)
princess: Friend Leslie

And Johnny come lately to the party, I am Paula, first mate in cabin 3.

My son will be 4 when we set sail and he is already so excited about going. I told him this morning that Mickey Mouse was going on vacation with us and he thought that was the coolest thing ever. Wait til he finds out there are other characters sailing with us, too.

This will be his first Disney experience. I'm gonna need to spend the next few months introducing him to the rest of the disney characters so he'll be excited about meeting them.

Welcome to all new people. The count is pretty high now on the thread, awesome!

I'm a little concerned about the weather too, but not terribly. I am getting insurance just in case and flying in the night before (but also because I don't want to wake up @ 3am to catch an early flight) and everyone says the cruise lines handle it so well so I guess we just have to trust they'll take care of things if it comes up. My parents have cruised in Sept. before twice (out of NY no less!) and they had great weather and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

JDBlair- your DH sounds like mine (and you sound like me, I'm obsessing about which night to make Palo dinner reservations and can't even book until July)! And I think they do offer 3 shots of tequila as part of the tasting.

It looks like I've been slacking...can you believe it? I've actually had to WORK at the office!!! :rotfl2:

Welcome to all the new additions! :welcome:

I told him this morning that Mickey Mouse was going on vacation with us and he thought that was the coolest thing ever. Wait til he finds out there are other characters sailing with us, too.

Hey Paula! :goodvibes

So when are you going to tell Henry the other characters are his cousins and that crazy Uncle D?!?! :scared1:
Oh, you mean the DISNEY characters!
Yeah, they will be fun too!

Did I get that right?

WOW! I am so impressed you got that right, Jay!! Great job! Now can you organize us into shore excursions and get us all at the same table for dinner?! ;) Just kidding. We are quite a group!

See you!

Also, I want to get in on the Margarita tasting and I bet I can talk a SIL (or two) into it too! THAT sounds like a good time! :woohoo:

I'm in for any and all tastings. Isn't that what the kid's clubs (or grandparents) are all about?

Jays - Thanks for the official roll call! :grouphug:
