September 29, 2007 - Magic

Octoberbride03 says : I'm trying to see how many rooms are booked on the ship for our cruise and I haven't figured out how to do it. I'm all registered and can call up my reservation and stuff, just can't seem to bring up a room chart, just basic cabin descriptions. I know its getting full cause the prices went from when i booked. So if anybody here knows how to do that I'd appreciate the info. TYIA
Hi Maureen,
I don't know if there's a better way or not, but I just "pretend" to book a Sept '07 cruise and it will list all availability in each catergory. The problem is, you probably need to "pretend" to list a party of only 1 or 2 guests because some staterooms can only hold 3. If I were to put in our family of 4 cruising this Sept, it might leave out the "sleep 3 only" rooms if you know what I mean.
When you get to the part in the reservations system that allows you to pick your category, you click the link that says "pick specific stateroom" and it lists the exact staterooms that are open. You'll have to go through each available category to see what rooms are open. I don't think you can just click one link and view open rooms on the entire ship at once.
I just did this for cat 9 and was suprised to see cat 9, on deck 2, midship available !? I had specifically requested this almost 2 months ago when I booked (with DVC points) and they said no midship was available ? There are at least 4 midship cat 9 on deck 2 showing now. I'm a little annoyed by this. But I stray off topic........

:coffee: Hi,
Call and change it.
I started out in room 7628 when it was just me and my wife now were in 5634(Me and Barb) 5632 (DD, DGD & DGs) 5635 (DB, DGS).
I had to move 3 room around but a quick phone call fixed it.
A little secret I found out from the CM who helped me, "just because you do not see the room as avaliable when you do what you suggested above, doesn't mean that everything else in that category is taken".
Call, call call, they might suprise you, and if you went thru a TA, you can still call DCL and check to see if what you want is vacant (but DCL won't change it for you, you must go back to your TA to make the change).
Don't be annoyed be happy, it's your vacation.

I'm so tempted Grumpy Gramps. I booked through DVC Member Services. I think they charge a $75 booking fee to switch reservations. I'll give them a call though to check. I'm in 2026 right now.
OK....get this........either I was really tired last night when I posted ( 1am), or things have changed this morning. Because right now, all midship are gone ???

Sorry if someone has already posted about this or discussed this as I haven't yet read through all 35 pages.

What does anyone know or recommend about ground transportation options? We are making our own flight arrangements. I'm still researching but just curious about what others have found...

We're renting a car. Arriving at MCO on our own the day before, renting a car from Budget, and then returning it to Budget near the port the day we embark.
After the cruise, renting a car from Budget, keeping it overnight and returning it to the airport (MCO) the next day.
Budget has a shuttle that will drop u off and pick you up at the port. Makes it easy renting from them.

We have a limo reserved through Happy Limo. There are only 3 of us but I thought it would be a really nice touch to the cruise. I had posted awhile back seeing if anyone wanted to book the stretch hummer, I have read about several groups doing this but most people already have their transportation booked. I have read good reviews of Happy so I feel comfortable using them.

Just a little OT for a minute.....my friend is on the Magic today. It just left port and I caught it going past the twopalms webcam at 5:34 pm est today. Here she is :

Love the picture of the Magic sailing by - thanks for posting it.

We fly in the day before and are planning to use a limo to/from the port. Just don't know what hotel we're staying at yet or what limo service. :confused3

Guess you're going to need to get the Passporter now. :cool1: I got mine but I think I need to go buy those little sticky tabs to mark areas I want to remember. DS just returned from a visit with his biological father and asked about going for another visit over his fall break. I was startled and reminded him about the cruise. He said he had forgotten because I haven't been obsessing on it lately. Excuse me??? Showed him the Deluxe Passporter and he said, "Okay, nevermind. You're still obsessed!"

For those that were interested I booked the Sunny Liston tour for a 10:00 pick-up. We will probably not do the beach part as we are not big beach people so we will save that for Castaway Cay, unless I see the beaches there and feel I just can't resist. I just want to get back to the ship in plenty of time. My biggest fear is missing the boat!
