September 29, 2007 - Magic

:wave2: All,
You folks with kids, I know your worried about the trip BUT REMENBER next month is Easter. Plastic eggs stuffed with Disney dollars will really make things seem like they are going on schedule and getting closer to our trip..
And now you have a Disney Easter Egg Hunt
No I do not work for Disney noe the Disney Store (that's where you can buy Disney dollars) and the biggest thing of all is the Disney dollars can be used at WDW and at customer service on the ship to buy game cards and pay for parts of your bill.. Just a little gg tip.....
gg

Thanks for the great ideas! :thumbsup2 On that same note, you can also use Disney Gift Cards for Birthday Presents (I'm thinking of doing that for our kids:banana: ...and I don't think they fit in the little eggs :lmao: )

Disney Scrip is now available and it is usable on board the ship...this from the Scrip vendor:
Designed for maximum flexibility, the Disney Gift Card can be utilized for most everything Disney! Whether it be a once-in-a-lifetime vacation experience at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida or the Disneyland® Resort in California, the Disney Gift Card can be used to purchase complete vacation packages or select elements, including hotel stays, theme park admission, recreation, tours, merchandise and dining.
Set sail with Disney Cruise Line® and use the Disney Gift Card for vacation packages and for payment toward on-board charges.
The Disney Gift Card can also be used for purchases at over 300 Disney Store locations in the U.S. and online at DisneyShopping.com.
SOOooo, if you belong to an organization (or have family/friends) that uses Scrip as a fundraiser, then keep this in mind!

That Halloween party sounds fun, too bad my dd's not older I'd definitely have done that instead. We're DVC members but our flight doesn't even get in until 5pm so dh figured we're better off staying by the airport instead.

Btw, there's this really good trip report I'm reading, the Incredibles. It's long so I thought it'd be a while but it's so well written that I'm zipping right through, ALL details are in there (great for first time DCL cruisers like myself).

Happy Thursday All....it's almost the weekend.....YEAH:cheer2:

Just wondering if anyone watched the "DCL" on :happytv: tv today....we recorded it and watched it as a family tonight...it was a fun way to get the fella's a little hyped up for the trip...( i need no extra stimulation...it's on my brain 24/7..lol):woohoo:

Have a fun and safe weekend!!!:cool1:
Have a Green Beer for ME!!!!:lmao:

Thanks grumpy gramps - I'll check tonight when I get home!

FYI- If anyone's looking for an airport hotel the night before, we got ours on Hotwire for $50 (3*, 2 miles from airport, pool and jacuzzi on-site, airport shuttle and bkfst included). :thumbsup2

It was on the Travel Channel. Its actually a little dated as both ships have had a couple of upgrades since this was recorded, but its still way fun and they tend to run it frequently, so it'll come round again a few times b4 we leave. I think that's what got me to book this trip. I've seen it at least 6 times and never tire of it. I think the last time i was home to watch was right b4 my last anniversary and only then did i think that we should get moving and book one. So here we are.

Anyhow, i hope everybody's having a good week. Mine really hasn't been but it'll pass. I hope.

That is exactly what we need. Can you PM me and tell me where so I can make a ressie?

Maureen...hope your week starts to brighten up too ! :flower3:

I can't remember when I ordered my passporter but I think it was around the same time as everyone else. I got it on Monday. Hopefully you will have yours soon. I have been reading a little every night before bed. It has a lot of good info in there.

I am seriously thinking about booking this cruise. I am undecided about this line or Carnival. I have always wanted to cruise on DCL! I was told there are several Cat. 5 rooms on level 7. We are looking to book a golf excursion in St. Thomas and the 12 Meter Challenge in St. Martin. This is very new to me! Any recommendations?

I caught it once before a few years ago, when i was channel surfin:happytv: ...I always check the info on the dish guide and it said 2003 was the orginal air date...It would be nice if they had a updated one...;) On another thread they said "The Travel Channel" was on a recent trip beacuse they had to sign waviers and everything..:yay: and i just saw a commerical on travel channel for a new show called "Great Family Vacations" and it had a little snipet of the DCL....I'll keep my eyes open and keep ya posted...:dance3:

If you have always wanted to cruise on DCL go for it! This will be our 12th DCL cruise. We love it! We have not yet cruised any other line. We may eventually try another line but for now we are cruising DCL. Give it a try. You will not be sorry. Geeze, DCL should pay me for advertising.:thumbsup2

:welcome: .. If you have always wanted to try DCL now would be a good time to give it a try. This will be my first cruise on DCL and my second cruise ever (I am cruising on Carnival in about a month for my first cruise ever) so I can't be of much help about the excursions however I have read several reviews of the 12 Meter Challenge and everyone seems to love it.

It took me about 2 weeks to get my passporter, you should be getting yours any day now I'm sure! Feel better! And check your pm.

Tinker- if you're thinking about, go for it! This is my first time on the DCL too (3rd cruise total), but so many people go back to DCL so many times, I figure there's got to be some magic! :yay:

Ok....I might be.. "D.U.M"...here, but what is the 12 meter challenge?:confused3
--Christa--

The 12 meter Regatta is as follows from my passporter :
Become a crew member aboard one of the famous America Cup yachts, such as the "Stars and Stripes". You'll complete an actual race on a shortened version of the America's Cup course. You may get to "grind a winch" or "trim a sail"---no experience necessary. Wear soft-soled shoes. Typical meeting time is 8:15 am. It's $75 and was rated a "10" by Passporter readers. It's about 3 hours long.

I'm thinking of doing one of the following for St Maarten (they got good reviews in the Birnbaums guide, but only lackluster reviews with Passporter, except for the Golden Eagle which rated high) :
1) Pine Island Tour
2)Shipwreck Cove Snorkel
3) Golden Eagle Catamaran
***also, there is a Tiki Hut Snorkel
listed on the DCL website, but not in either guidebook ? Anyone hear anything about this ? I may start a thread to see if anyone has heard of this or done this yet. It may be too new for anyone to post experiences yet.
Any thoughts on any of these ? I posted a thread on the Eastern excursions but got only 2 responses. I even bumped it up a few days ago and got no bites.
My kids don't want to visit Orient Beach at all.....the whole "nudity" thing freaks them out....:rotfl:
Thanks ! I love the planning part of the cruise....
