September 28, 2016, DVC Member Cruise on the Magic!

I just found this thread and I am getting really excited. This will be our 2nd member cruise with the first one being in 2009. What time do we get off the ship on the last day? I have a 11 am departure at Penn Station do go back home to DC. Will this be enough time?

Hi, I got that folding suitcase too! I keep it filled at home with my must take cruise things like my cruise lanyard with pins and me fish extender.

My favorite things I suppose are the DVC beach towels that we got in 2005. The problem is, I don't want to use them! I think they may get stolen, dumb perhaps, but that's the way it is.

I have found it very easy to be off of the ship between 8 & 8:30, so, depending how you want to get to Penn Station, I think you are fine.

By the way, :welcome:!

First Disney Cruise - so excited! We are native New Yorkers - so it's going to be great to drive up and get on board. It is just my husband and I. We plan on doing the fish extenders and giving out gifts. Does anyone have any other hints or clues for first timers? Any questions about New York City or the other boroughs - just ask and I'll try and help out!

Does anyone know if you can park your car at the cruise terminal and walk to Times Square before we check in? Will they allow us to leave the terminal? We have never been to New York City so we thought we would just take a quick walk before we board.

I think it is a mile between the two, and I have no idea if you can leave the car at the terminal and walk away.

There's no reason why not. Drop off your luggage and park. You can walk to Times Square and be back in time to check in.

Soooo, being a newbie I didn't know we had to pick a check in time for the cruise. I never got anything from Disney explaining this. Anyway I went online now and found it and the earliest check in is 11 but those slots are taken and the only thing now is 1. What are the chances if I show up at 11 that we can get on early? I am calling to complain - I already called once and they have on file we never received anything so hopefully they can help. It's a shame because we live here and we don't want to waste the day

I do not think we've gotten the DCL booklet that you get before the cruise.

Rooms are generally not ready before 1:30, and you have to keep whatever you have as carry ons with you. I hope you are satisfied with whatever DCL or DVC tells you, but unless it's warm enough to swim, I do not think you miss much. Yes, the being on vacation feeling, but it's not terrible boarding at 1, just MO of course!

Welcome czall, We are both born in Manhattan, grew up in Queens, live in Nassau County since the late 70s, when we bought our first house. Yes, we are old!
First, the most important question....Yankees or Mets?
Yankees for us.
So happy to not have to deal
With the airport this time.
Hope to see you on the ship.
Deb and Jed

Actually, boarding at 1:00 could be a blessing in disguise. Checkin is very busy first thing, but after boarding starts, it gets a little better, so you may find yourself getting through that process much quicker and practically walking on the ship.

Ok sign up for Candy Exchange is closed! Look for the conversation from me. I sent it out a little while ago!

We'll be leaving NJ later this week, the next time we come back will be just before this MC.

Bobbi:boat:

For anyone in the Candy Exchange, I think Bobbi forgot to send the conversation to me. I only have our previous conversation saying I'm interested and providing my information. However, I do not have information on the other participants. I don't know how many cabins are participating or how many I'm buying for. Help? TIA!!

I misspelled your name, and someone else got the information!
Please check your inbox and confirm that you got it!
I am sorry for the mix up!!
Bobbi:)

I do not think we've gotten the DCL booklet that you get before the cruise.

I called Member services last week Saturday, because I was concerned as some of my travel docs not for DCL were sent to the wrong address. They said the booklets with luggage tags & etc were being prepared & would be sent in about a week, so I am expecting to receive my DCL packet sometime next week.
