September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

Welcome to all of our new cruiser's. Looking forward to meeting everyone in less than 2 weeks. Mike

So far it appears that our cruise is not completely full. I did a mock reservation for 2 adults and they still have all catagories (4-12) available, except cat. 7. The prices are still showing about $300 more than when we booked.

10 Days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know what's funny? My DH just did that too and got the same results. But the weird thing is I looked a week ago and there were only 3 categories left! I wonder what the explanation is for that?

If it means more upgrades, I'm all for it :)

Da Ebels - :welcome: like eva said it will be hard to miss the DVC gathering. It's really a "no big deal rah-rah DVC buy more points" event, but we won a pillow last year. We are Cowboy haters, but football lovers, so we'll be there on Sun and Mon nights!
Don't forget the BEER tasting event!:thumbsup2
Mike - Looks like the Wackyoulasuites are just down the road from the Residence Inn. Consider this an official invitation for you to meet us for pizza Friday at 6PM. All are Welcome!

Welcome DaEbels:thumbsup2

Excitement is in the air! Our MNSSHP passes arrived today for WDW on the friday night. Were starting to count the sleeps in our household. I think this weekend will bring out the luggage and the packing task will start.
Looking forward to meeting you all....
DH

Oh-No! More Cowboy haters! Oh well, it has to be expected. We tend to hate those we envy!

Even though a number of you are all Cowboys haters, I am very excited that we have a number of football fans on the cruise. We love the game and will love having people with us that enjoy the game. No matter how misguided you are!

The only thing I like about the cowboys, is the CHEERLEADERS:thumbsup2   :woohoo:

And it should be even greater to set sail on our first DC:banana: in less than 10 days.

It is nice to meet everyone and thank you for the nice greetings. This DIS Board is great, there is so much great informtion.

Compared to most of you veterans we seem to be behind on our cruise preparations. But I have made significant progress since reviewing this board.

Couple other questions.

  1. Formal night, can't really find defintion of what is considered appropriate for the adults or kids. Is a sports coat and kahkis okay, or do I need a tie or tux.
  2. we were given the late seating, what are the chances we could have that moved to the early seating. My DW thinks an 8:30 dinner will be too late for our DD's.
Any good sites, that help folks determine what should be packed. I mean I know the basics, but snacks, groceries, is there any thing that we should consider packing or picking up on the way to the ship once we get to Orlando?

:rotfl:  :dance3: :dance3: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I wanted to add that our excitment is growing by the minute. I tonight I researched and decided what we want to do on KW, and GC.

I also nolted that there will only be one other boat in port in GC, so it should not be very crowded.

My DD (2 year old), can't wait to go the boat with Mickey.

Thanks again for all the insight.

And Eva, I'm not a full time Cowboys hater, but will be on that Sunday Night. You'll see me and my DD's in our Uralcher jerseys.

I am starting to get used to this posting thing. :confused3

TIME TO SINGLE DIGIT DANCE, PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lenny,

The excitement is building for us too. I hope they show the game on the Dumbotron by the Goofy pool. Unfortunately, only adults are allowed in Diversions after 9:00 pm. So your daughters won't be able to see more than 45 minutes of the game there. It would be cool to see the game on the big screen by the pool. Then your girls can enjoy the game as well. I know a lot of people have mentioned seeing Monday Night Football on the Dumbotron. So we've got a pretty good chance.

I've seen some people wear a dress shirt with a jacket and no tie for formal night. You'll see everything from tuxs to Dockers. Most men wear a nice suit. But there really are no rules. Steve (DH) bought a new suit from Joseph A Banks for formal, semi-formal, and Palo nights. He's just going to wear a different shirt and tie each night. On the other nights he will wear Dockers and polos.

If you want to change to early seating you need to contact DCL and get your name on the waitlist for main seating as soon as possible. It may be a bit late in the game to do that, but it is worth a try. Once you get on board you can always ask again.

I wouldn't bring much food with you. You can order snacks from room service 24 hours a day. And most of it's free! The packaged items like candy is not free. A lot of people order the cheese tray, cookies & milk, cake by the slice, and Mickey bars. But you can even order sandwiches, if you need a snack. And on deck 9 during the day you can get hamburgers, chicken strips, fries, fruit, ice cream, the list goes. If you are hungry on a Disney cruise, it is your own fault. :) Now you might want to bring a couple bottles of water or a bottle of wine. But even there, the soda station on deck 9 is open 24 hours and is free. It also has water, milk, lemonade, and fruit punch. You can also order large pitchers of ice water from room service for free. Just be sure to tip room service a buck or two.

We're in single digits! Only 9 Days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there a "list" posted somewhere of things we should pack? I have been trying to write things down the last couple of days but I am afraid I am going to forget to pack something important.

We are heading to ATL tomorrow for the weekend so I won't start packing for the cruise until next week. Not much time!

Mike- got your message, I think I was out running around with the baby.:)

Excellent.

Just sent some of my fancier stuff to Dry Cleaner for trip.

Gonna start laying everything out this weekend I think.
It is getting chilly up here. I can wear long sleeve shirts and sweatshirts.

Things that I am bringing that I did not bring last time are:

1. Pop up hamper
2. Hanging shoe rack
3. small digital clock
4. night light
5. pins for trading
6. candy for theater
7. refillable beer mug from last trip
8. Cruisin Hat
9. tux
10. Snorkel Gear
11. Two-Ray radios

LOL ;) I almost forgot the refillable beer mugs :lmao: We did actually pack those with us for our last cruise....and ended up using them..BUT getting another one would make for another nice souviner...and before we know it we could have a complete set at home :goodvibes I'll have to ask DH if he want's it packed or not.

Just about anything goes for dinner...even Formal nights alot of men do wear suites or a tux...BUT not everyone. The first time we cruise we even saw one man come in in jeans and an old TANK top :rolleyes1 And that was before Jeans in the dinning room were even okay. DH has always taken his suit and tie...this year he's taking it all EXCEPT the jacket.

I agree about packing extra snacks is silly. There is so much on the ship that you could be stuffed 24/7.

Also like Eva mentioned you can put your name on the wait list for earler dinning...and you may get it....or you may not. BUT late dinner could be as early as 8pm (I think)..I know a half hour isn't much...but it could make a slight diffrence. Also if your daughters really can't do dinner that late you can always take them to the buffet earler as well as order room service and go to deck 9 for pizza, hamburgers, chicken stips and more. I think a good number of people do do this with younger kids who end up having late dinner. Simpley feed them early then check them into the kids clubs when it's time for your dinner. Anywho....just an idea.
