September 2014 - odds for free dining?

I've been reading over some of the free dining plan dates for the last few years and they seem to vary, so I'm a little concerned about when to book for 2014. My DS and I have an airline credit that has to be rebooked by 3/16/2014 (travel can be in the fall but I have to book by March). We are looking at either September sometime after Labor Day week or mid-to late October but before Halloween.

Any recommendations on when to book to hopefully get free dining for 2014?

Based on the historical discounts and the current bounce back, you are more likely to get free dining in September than in October. There are a lot of black out dates in October, making it a little harder to guess which dates will have free dining next year.

The more people that book early the less need there is for Disney to offer a Discount. That being said Disney always has SOMETHING in September. It might not be FD but could be a Room Only discount.

Thank you both. We are going to plan on mid-September and hope that maybe either a room discount or fd are offered. I've budgeted for no discount, but I'm hoping we get one as my mom is now planning to join us also and it will be her 75th birthday while we are there so I would love to be able to completely cover her airfare as well with the savings.
