September 2014 Discount Watch!

Also, remember the fall free dining when resorts that had never been excluded were excluded, like POR and all of AOA....they had good bookings so no need to do a discount. Imagine property-wide if the bookings were solid = no free dining at all.

my family got incredibly lucky last year, always dreamed of staying at POFQ but knew chances were slim it would be included in Fall FD. My sister got the FD PIN and we were able to use it at FQ which was excluded from the GP FD.

funny thing those PINs. I got them all the time for years, last one I received was for last summer RO; nothing since. Sis is still getting them though.:)

next trip the kids want to stay at POP, doesn't seem like that resort is ever excluded.

Yup, too many people booking in advance is a sure way to kill off a discount.

I agree with you and all the other disboarders and it is showing in the websites that predict the the crowds (touringplans, undercovertourist, easywdw, etc).
When I first started looking at the predictor websites, the week I was looking at, each day was 1's or 2's, now all of September is 3's and 4's with only a couple of 2's sprinkled in. When they start their predictions it is based on historical data, then as the resorts start booking up, they adjust their predictions.

I have booked our trip for September and I'm HOPING for some kind of discount (other than the free memory maker package they have right now). I know a lot of people say don't book because it will decrease the need for Disney to offer incentives, but I want to be able to make my ADR's for my entire trip at my 180 day mark (in one week!!!!). If I don't have a trip booked I'll have to do it one day at a time! Planning my ADR's is by far my favorite part of the process.

You better hope that the convenience of booking it all at once didn't shoot you in the foot for a better discount.

Plus last year when free dining went live, it opened online at midnight. Those making new reservations booked then. Those with existing reservations had to wait seven hours until the phones opened and many options were booked up.

I had forgotten about that. One more reason to continue to impatiently wait for offers to be released!

This is the same way I planned it last year, and even though I was up at 6AM on my 180th day, I couldn't get my exact ADR times for that trip. Tonight I was looking at the week before our dates and had no trouble finding even an Ohana ADR for a party of 10 at 6:30 PM on a Wishes night. So either people who are booking aren't making ADR's or not as many people have booked...

And like I said, I'm HOPING for a good discount, but I'm budgeting around the current price and will go regardless. :thumbsup2 We were already going to try to save money by driving (it was half the cost last time I checked) but now flights are considerably cheaper from our city (over $100 per ticket)! :cool1: There are other ways to make the trip more affordable if Disney doesn't offer Free Dining. And in the end, this is a luxury (even though it often feels like something I HAVE to do), so if we can't afford the package they are offering, we will cancel our reservations and wait until we CAN afford it.

Ok, commence flaming...:furious: Lol

I didn't mean to sound grumpy but rereading I guess it did! I agree that ADRs are better this time around. I actually got a BOG ressie at 5pm on my 180. And I have to say I am glad to hear you are willing to wait if the package isn't good enough. There were people last year that were down right ugly when their dates weren't included.

I looked all day on my 180 for BOG ... Nothing

I have heard that a lot lately. People booking the +10 are getting them all somehow. Which is so hard to believe:confused3 We are planning on trying to get BOG for our last day which is 8 days into our trip, so have my fingers crossed. ADR day is Thursday.

What I can't believe is how easy it has been for me to get my Ressies, each day without a package. Everything I'm wanting! Yesterday late afternoon I decided to check and see if we could get a Character Breakfast at GF no problems, there were 3 different times available. The times were later in the morning but that was what I was looking for, My DH likes to sleep in. I got 10:00am, but there were 9:30am, 9:45am. I will try for a BOG lunch when the time comes after I have officially gotten my package and FP+. Heard you can use the Magic Band FP+ to reserve, guess I will find out.

Hi everyone! Joining this thread for info. My husband and I are planning on a Disney trip with this kids this September. We have 3 kids and this will be the first Disney trip for everyone (except me). I'm so excited. We can go anytime in September and are looking to stay for 7 nights. Hoping for some kind of discounts - either free dining or discounted rooms. Having 5 of us in a family, our room options aren't as great without spending an arm and a leg. Considering POR and AOA right now...

close... i am looking for oct... going 10/3-10/19 and usually it seems that discounts come out in 3 month intervals... now is june, july aug

so i am hoping the next announcement will be for sept oct nov

This is how it has worked for me as well. I am getting all the character meals I could hope for. My best friend is going to be 6 months pregnant when we go and we are going to have each character we meet vote on the baby's gender. :yay:

Welcome!! Waiting for the discounts is torture but there is still something fun about it. Only Disney can make torture fun! Enjoy your planning. We just took our 2 kids for their first trip in December.

We did AOA last year in May with 5 (me, dh, and kids 13, 4, 2). The family suites are great and we loved the lion king suite but we really didn't stay in the room as much as I thought we would with a 2 year old, so we are trying POR this time in the alligator bayou section. Hoping we don't feel too cramped!!! I over packed last year (rookie mistake) and this year I am going to pack light for everyone!!! We are checking in August 29 so I am hoping for free dining or a REALLY good room discount!!!!!
