September 2014 Discount Watch!

Hoping for free dining, or a room discount code for Sep 13 through 19th!

BF's 1st visit (he has been to Disneyland though).. I believe it's my 8th visit! First time as an adult without all of my parents & siblings though.. I plan to use these boards for lots of tips and advice!! ;)

It's so hard not to book, especially when given the all clear for the vacation. However, it is much easier to book a new reservation when the discounts come out rather than calling and changing an existing one. Can't wait to be able to actually book! :cool1:

Thanks, sure hope you dont regret the offer to ask away. lol

I am so confused about so much. right now we are trying to get the best Chase Visa deal and figure all that out. I called them directly but they were not very helpful seeing as they have many offeres.

Do you happen to know if when booking your reservation if the person will give you the best one available or do you specifically have to ask. Also do you know how the "points" work in paying towards the balance of your trip?

My experience is the reservations agent usually offers/gives the best discount available.
I'm not sure I can help with the points question. I'm not familiar with that terminology.

Oh and I won't regret the offer! Ask away!

Agreed, stop booking!! why should Disney offer any discounts if everyone is already booked, they have no need to.

I can't stress this enough.

I've written my own blogs about this.

I've written guest blogs on other sites about this.

I've written magazine articles about this.

It's the reason discounts get narrowed down. It's the reason more and more resorts get excluded from discounts when they are offered.

Once Disney sees a booking, they see it as booked and out of their inventory. They don't have a block set aside for "booked but only if receiving a discount".

If you're going to go either way, fine....but if you want a discount and can't go without one, hold off.

Exactly! Common sense.

Can someone remind me what the options are if a discount is only available for some of our days? Can we just have one reservation and a discount on some of the days, or do we need to have two reservations, one for discounted days and one for not discounted days?

To be more specific, we're planning on being there for part of Food & Wine. Non-negotiable, we're meeting family that opening weekend. I'm okay with not having a discount for those days if that's what happens, but just wondering what I'm going to have to do re: booking and discounts.

Thanks!

It depends.

Discounts go by the check in day. So if your check in is before the offer starts, you'll need a second reservation so that you check in on a day the offer includes. If your check in already falls on offer dates then you're fine.

Well I confirmed our reservations yesterday. We needed a particular room and if free dining is offered great, if not, that will be ok as well. Family of 7 so it would be very helpful, but we are going either way with the same thing so I needed to get locked into the 2 bedroom villa.

Looking forward to planning everything else now, like advanced dining etc.

Hello everyone! We are planning our 2nd trip to WDW and have decided on the dates of Sept 1-7th we are a family of 5 but we are traveling with another family of 3 as well. We are hoping for free dining and haven't booked anything yet, hoping and waiting! I was wondering does anyone have any idea about when MNSSHP will begin this year?

There are rumors and some evidence the MNSSHP will start as early as 8/29 with another party on 9/1. We are going to be there 8/27-9/7 and so excited they may start it early. We have always gone in Sept or Oct and were bummed we may miss it this year, but it appears there may be two dates during our stay on Friday 8/29 and Monday 9/1 that we can attend the MNSSHP!!!:cool1:

Do we have an idea of when more fall discounts will be released (especially FD)? When we went in September 2012, I booked POFQ FD at the beginning of March. Looks like that window has passed. Any ideas?

I've booked my first Ressie w/out a package, I got Chefs de France for 5:50pm for our second evening. I only have to book everyday for 8 days. I had no problems getting what I wanted. I booked at 10:50am Eastern time, we're on mountain time. I did have to provide a CC number to reserve.

Late Summer (Sept) offers typically release in early May, and Fall (Oct-Dec) release in late July/early Aug.

I have booked our trip for September and I'm HOPING for some kind of discount (other than the free memory maker package they have right now). I know a lot of people say don't book because it will decrease the need for Disney to offer incentives, but I want to be able to make my ADR's for my entire trip at my 180 day mark (in one week!!!!). If I don't have a trip booked I'll have to do it one day at a time! Planning my ADR's is by far my favorite part of the process.

I'm doing my Ressies a few per day, not that hard. but with everyone booking, may have to cancel everything if no discounts are given.

Yup, too many people booking in advance is a sure way to kill off a discount.

like all the people who were upset last year because they booked for August in anticipation of FD and the GP offer for FD did not start until a few days into September.

Also, remember the fall free dining when resorts that had never been excluded were excluded, like POR and all of AOA....they had good bookings so no need to do a discount. Imagine property-wide if the bookings were solid = no free dining at all.
