September 2011 - We are going to Disney World {THIS MONTH}! (Third Thread)

Proud Mommy moment to share with you all....

My DD who is 6 auditioned for The Nutcracker, and we found out she was cast as a "small soldier"...she was a mouse last year, so it is quickly becoming her favorite scene! :thumbsup2 :dance3:

I've been working on last minute details today....after planning for so long I can't believe it is almost time! I am SO excited!!!!:banana:

Basketkat: Congrats to your daughter!!! How awesome is that?! :cool1:

Congratulations! That sounds so cute!!

Thank you. LOL hubby called me one day and said "I have a surprise for you when I get home" and it was that phone cover haha. he saw it when he was at walmart picking up something for work and knew I would love it lol

aww that's cute. Congrats to the little actress :)

Basketkat: Congrats to your daughter!!! How awesome is that?! :cool1:

Thanks everyone!!!! It is 5 shows of 1800 seats, so it is a big production...tons of work...but SO worth it!!!! She is excited to start rehearsals already...me...not so much! :lmao:

I saw some people in Theme Parks A & S forum (including a CM) talking about it being pretty low crowd levels right now. I'm sure it'll pick up a bit as the month goes on due to F & W but hopefully it'll stay on the low side! I've been watching the Lines app on my phone and the wait times have been awesome!

SINGLE DIGIT DANCE DAY!!!! :dance3:

9 Days til we're in the World and 8 until we start our vacay! In 8 days I'll be trying to pack empty suitcases for all 6 of us like a mad woman! :rotfl: This is the only bad part of having it be a surprise, I can't pack whatsoever until they go to school on the 20th, and then I have to be finished by 3 pm so we can pick them up from school and head to the hotel by the airport. I hope my dh is understanding and lets me have my crazy moment that day too. :lmao: Only 5 more days of work for hubby before he's officially on holidays and shutting off his phone!! He's NEVER done that before, even on other holidays he always keeps his phone on and is still answering calls and emails while on holidays, so I'm SOOO excited for it to be off for 2 weeks straight! :woohoo::yay::banana:

Have an AWESOME time to everyone who's leaving soon!

I am so confused why everyone find it so difficult to pack. I just put it all in two notes and then just pull it out into suitcases that morning. That way it gives you time to remember without feeling rushed!! just a thought.

We pack night before. No lists, just put what we need into suitcases. If something is forgotten we do without. of course we are 2 adults. so it is way easier.

I don't find it difficult, I'll just be a bit rushed though because I'll only have 6 hours to get done from start to finish all the packing for 2 adults and 4 kids with 2 toddlers running around the house that need to be taken care of at the same time. Plus have to drop the dog off that day at the kennel, have the house clean before we leave to pick up the older two at school, still do the usual snacks/lunch/naptime/diaper changes with the toddlers, etc. I can generally pack quickly and easily, but with everything else going on and kids trying to get into my suitcases and pull out the stuff I'm packing....it can be a bit tougher and take twice as long! :lmao: It'll be difficult packing too trying to figure out what we need in the checked bags, what we need in the carry-ons, what I need in my purse, and what I need in our hotel overnight bag since we're staying in a hotel the night before our early morning flight.

I'm definitely making a list, it's the only way I'll have peace of mind and not have a nagging feeling in the back of my head all day that I forgot to pack something! Worse case, Disney has everything available to buy I'm sure that I could possibly forget!

I wish I could be that quick at packing. Can you come to my house and pack the night before for me?

I feel the same way. I don't stress over it, but I need to pack a few days in advance just to make sure I don't forget something especially something our little ones are going to need.

My principal finally approved my leave today. I put it in weeks ago. I wasn't really worried that she would say no, I just wanted the confirmation. Now I just need to wait 16 more days!

Anyone else see the tweet today that they will be doing something at MK on October 1? I wonder what it will be? Wasn't planning on hopping over but now wondering if we should check it out? Hmmm! Do I want to change plans yet again?

I wasn't planning on going Oct 1st, but I am thinking about going over by myself to check it out. I would love to meet with all of you that will still be down here.

I have both the Epcot and MK ones and I think the MK one would probably be best if you had to pick just one. It has more "classic" rides and just more rides in general. It'd be a great present for a gift basket since they are small books but very interesting!

Thanks for your input! I was leaning towards MK for just the reason you said - more classic. I'm also planning on putting a Hidden Mickeys book in there. We always have fun spotting those :thumbsup2

I didn't see that - but we will be there at least part of the day. My sister and neice have ressies at CRP around 4pm. My son (who refuses to do "princessy" things) are going to hop over to the park with them and just wander around and ride. I hope they do something fun

I don't use twitter so keep me updated!! We are supposed to start driving home October 1st but if there is something awesome happening I am sure we can leave late in the day :woohoo:

Janabanana - Great pic! Welcome back and I'll also be reading your TR :)

Mickeymouseclubhouse - Have an awesome time :wizard:

I wish packing was easy for me lol. I am a forgetful person by nature so I really need to check and double check. I have forgotten many, many things on different trips over the years lol. Not to mention the sheer volume with 6 of us. If it was just DH and I it would be a lot easier. Hopefully we get to try it sometime and find out :rolleyes1

My kids keep watching that youtube family video over and over and over. My 2 yo ran around the house all day saying "We're going to Disney World!!" :woohoo:

Well My TA has been trying for over 2 weeks to get our ME tags. Tags are still a no show. We are in the ME's system so if the tags don't show up before Friday morning, we will have to check in at the ME desk. Oh well, at least I will be heading to WDW.

Well, all my last minute trip preparations were going fairly well, the day was flying by and going smoothly.....until DD5 decided she wanted to stop at the park that is right outside her dance class. Sure, I said, since DH dropped us off and we were a little early. Well not two minutes into playing she falls from a very small set of monkey bars (maybe 4ft?) right onto her face :sad2: She had a huge scrape on her chin, she was bleeding, and she knocked two of her bottom teeth loose :scared1:

DH called our dentist...said there's not much we can do. Just make her comfortable by giving her kids Motrin, ice, and put her on a soft diet.

Ugh, not how I planned this to go, poor thing :guilty: And DD8 came home from school with a runny nose.

So, I'm hoping this doesn't put too much of a damper on our trip because I am freaking out just a little bit

Oh no! So sorry to hear that! Are they permanent teeth or still baby ones? I know for really loose teeth, sometimes a dentist will actually put braces on them temporarily to stabilize them. I hope she feels better soon!

Basketkat glad to hear about your DD! That is definitely such a proud mommy moment!! :goodvibes

Mickeymouseclubhouse sorry to hear about your DD's accident! That is horrible timing, but I am sure she will be fine! Kids are much stronger than we are with these things.. plus what better way to make you feel better than to be in Disney World!! Safe travels tomorrow!!

Tomorrow will be online check in day! Ive opted against it. However we are going to check in my parents room.. we hope that by them checking in online, when we request to be next to their room once we arrive we will have a better chance. Who knows! :confused3 We wont be too upset if our rooms arent together, we will just be happy to be at Disney!

I also uploaded the 'travel itinerary' to my phone.. DH laughed that I have a spreadsheet for our vacation, and found it even funnier that Ive uploaded it into my phone.. I always lose the paper I bring with our ADR confirmation numbers so at least with my phone I will always have them!

C'mon 11 days!
