September 2011 - We are going to Disney World {THIS MONTH}! (Third Thread)

For all of you leaving soon...congrats, you made it!!! We have 15 days left...I'm starting packing today though. I have to work the next to weekends, and since it's a surprise I have to pack while the kids are at school. I hope everyone has an AWESOME trip!!!

I know I joined the group a little late, but I've really enjoyed reading about everyone's upcoming trips!

since it's a surprise I have to pack while the kids are at school.

I was thinking this too! I have to start swiping one pair of shorts at a time from my son's laundry so he doesn't wonder where all his clothes are going :lmao: Luckily I'm not working the day we're leaving, but he'll be in school. So, I can pack up everything (like his toothbrush, which he would miss!) that day.

I need to do some shopping though - DS's birthday is while we're away and I want to put together a nice basket. Has anyone gotten the "Imagineering" books? Is there one that is better than the others? I'm thinking either MK or Epcot for him, but I can't decide which would be better...

I finished hubby's Mickey Mouse camoflauge hat lol I just used black foam paper and cut little slits in the hat and cut out ears with tabs and glued the tabs inside :)

haha he's going to look awesome

YAY to everyone heading to the World soon. We've got 12 days, my to-do list is getting shorter, and we get to check in online Weds. I think I'll start the first round of packing tonight too. I throw in everything i think I want @ now, 10 days out, then i repack it 3 days out with the clean laundry. Then the night before i go over it one more time - this time weeds out the extras & "in case" stuff & throw in the laundry detergent. Yup im excited!
Im running the W&D half so there's extra clothes to pack. It'll all work out.

Anyone hear about current crowd levels? Is it the usual free dining crowded?

I saw some people in Theme Parks A & S forum (including a CM) talking about it being pretty low crowd levels right now. I'm sure it'll pick up a bit as the month goes on due to F & W but hopefully it'll stay on the low side! I've been watching the Lines app on my phone and the wait times have been awesome!

SINGLE DIGIT DANCE DAY!!!! :dance3:

9 Days til we're in the World and 8 until we start our vacay! In 8 days I'll be trying to pack empty suitcases for all 6 of us like a mad woman! :rotfl: This is the only bad part of having it be a surprise, I can't pack whatsoever until they go to school on the 20th, and then I have to be finished by 3 pm so we can pick them up from school and head to the hotel by the airport. I hope my dh is understanding and lets me have my crazy moment that day too. :lmao: Only 5 more days of work for hubby before he's officially on holidays and shutting off his phone!! He's NEVER done that before, even on other holidays he always keeps his phone on and is still answering calls and emails while on holidays, so I'm SOOO excited for it to be off for 2 weeks straight! :woohoo::yay::banana:

Have an AWESOME time to everyone who's leaving soon!

We had a blast and did not want to leave "home". It was so much fun, and even though my feet would disagree, a wonderful time.

I will be making a trip report and will link it to my sig when I start it!

If you have any questions, please ask away!!

September is a great time to go. Our longest waits were for the buses (and those were not long at all) and the two times we were held hostage on rides, ie we were in line and there was a technical problem.

What a great photo.

I'm so glad you had a good time. Can't wait to read your trip report.

I'm also thrilled to hear about the crowd levels. I've never been in September so I wasn't totally sure what to expect as far as crowds. :cheer2:

The waiting is almost over, we leave tomorrow!!!! :dance3::yay::yay::yay:

My girls came into my room at 4:30am this morning and said "Mom, we're going to Disney World tomorrow!" :cutie: They never ended up falling back asleep so we're all a little groggy this morning :surfweb: I wonder how much sleep we'll get tonight, LOL

Aww that is so cute!!!!
I've officially started my last week of work before we leave! Woot!!!

DD9 has prepared a menu for a special Disney dinner on Wednesday. Her idea of Disney dinner was Mickey-shaped pizzas and rice krispie treats with mac & cheese and fruit. We have since amended it to a pizza with the pepperoni in a Mickey head shape on it, Mickey-shaped treats, mac & cheese, and fresh mango. It should be fun!

Sounds like a fun meal to me!!!!

How fun!!!! (I like your phone cover too!;))

The crowds were not bad at all, even mid-day. Also, even if the standby time is 20 minutes or so, the wait doesn't seem that bad, as long as you are in the a/c.

1 tip: believe the disclaimer about allowing for 1.5 hours to get to an adr, if you have to travel to a park or other resort. You might get lucky like we did or you may get stuck just missing a bus and having to wait for another.

And if you have an ADR at Poly or GF, if you miss the MK bus, you can always take the EPCOT bus to EPCOT and take the monorail over to TTC, then monorail it over to the resort. We did this because we missed the MK bus and it was actually a nice detour.

If you get there early you can always window shop or try to check in for your adr early.

Proud Mommy moment to share with you all....

My DD who is 6 auditioned for The Nutcracker, and we found out she was cast as a "small soldier"...she was a mouse last year, so it is quickly becoming her favorite scene! :thumbsup2 :dance3:

I've been working on last minute details today....after planning for so long I can't believe it is almost time! I am SO excited!!!!:banana:

aww that's cute. Congrats to the little actress :)

The last two dresses we ordered for my DD for our trip arrived today. OMG they are so so soooooooooo cute. I can't wait to see her in them and I can't wait to see her reaction when she gets them :)

It seemed like I had so much to still do but in only a couple of days it seems everything finished itself lol. the only thing I'm waiting for now is the SD cards and the package from disneystore with the last of my DD's birthday gifts and then next week on payday I'm pre-ordering the photopass.

We are READY... now what am I going to do for the next 13 days? LOL

I will be right behind you ladies.. we leave on Saturday! Maybe we'll run into one another. We have a pop preferred room, but I made no requests, so I wonder where we'll end up!? :woohoo:

I will be there with you on Saturday! We are staying at the CSR. Only 5 days and I have ds packed and myself stacked, but dh has NOTHING packed! :scared1: He telles me that he will do it all on Friday. I will just have everything washed and folded for him to pick out his clothes. He really needs to go buy a few shirts and shorts. I have been on his butt about this. I did buy him a pair of shorts, but he is so fickle. Oh, well.

I have 7 work days left before I can blow this Popsicle stand, and focus on our vacation! Oh, please go fast, time!!
I am right there with you!!! I have 9 days left of work and then we are outta here!!!:goodvibes

We LOVED!!!!! Raglan Road!! We loved the ambiance (be prepared for a loud live band). The food and our waiter Matt were all FANTASTIC!! It was the best dining experience we had our entire trip. The food wasn't complicated or "haute cuisine" like some places, but it was really delicious.

Here is the link to my TR, I will also be making a more indepth dining report.
The Bananas Take on WDW

Thats exciting!! Cant believe your trip is here already!! Have a great time!! Let Mickey know we will be there soon!!

:banana: WooHoo!!!! We'll be right behind you on Wed. checking in at POP! Maybe we will see you! I requested building 5 facing the lake and will decorate my window with halloween themes and our names on ghosts. When DD#2 arrives on Friday, we will be wearing matching shirts most days, all brunettes (if I get my hair coloured today) :rotfl: and looking way too excited for 3 adults at Disney!!!

PS. My name is Debby, but I'll answer to marblies.

So excited for you!:woohoo::banana::cool1: My oldest one looked at me funny when I said this was my last full work week before we left, before it suddenly dawned on her what I was saying. They're starting to get really excited now! I have 7 work days left before I can blow this Popsicle stand, and focus on our vacation! Oh, please go fast, time!!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and I'm so glad we can all share the excitement with each other :grouphug: This has been one of the nicest groups of people on the Dis!

Marblies, I will definitely be looking for you and your window ;) We requested Bulding 1 (50's section) 1st floor, and our window will be Haloween themed also!:thumbsup2 Disneylifer, we'll miss you at Pop since we switch resorts on Friday but maybe we'll run into each other at the parks! :cheer2:

That is so cute :) you guys are going to have so much fun on your trip. can't wait to hear all about it

I can't wait to hear about everyone's trips. I can't believe we are all so close.

The only bummer right now is I seem to have done something to my knee. it's causing me quite a bit of discomfort but only when I go up and down stairs and such so it's not too big of a deal. I can walk around without any pain at all so that's the important thing I guess lol.

Hope your knee gets better soon!

I finished hubby's Mickey Mouse camoflauge hat lol I just used black foam paper and cut little slits in the hat and cut out ears with tabs and glued the tabs inside :)

Love the hat!

Welcome Back!!! Will definitely be subbing to your TR! Did you see many lovebugs? How was the weather, did you have much rain? TIA!

Welcome back, janabananas!! I'm glad to hear you had such an awesome time. I was checking the wait times all weekend and they seemed fabulous; I'm glad you got to take advantage of them!

I need to do some shopping though - DS's birthday is while we're away and I want to put together a nice basket. Has anyone gotten the "Imagineering" books? Is there one that is better than the others? I'm thinking either MK or Epcot for him, but I can't decide which would be better...

I have both the Epcot and MK ones and I think the MK one would probably be best if you had to pick just one. It has more "classic" rides and just more rides in general. It'd be a great present for a gift basket since they are small books but very interesting!
