September 2011 - We are going to Disney World {THIS MONTH}! (Third Thread)

I wasn't planning on going Oct 1st, but I am thinking about going over by myself to check it out. I would love to meet with all of you that will still be down here.

We are gonna go to rope drop...watch that just for anything special. Then if they are giving anything out (pins, etc) we are gonna get that and then go to Ohana's for our breakfast ressie and then back to MK for part of the day!!!

Wow! So exciting for her!

I wish I could be that quick at packing. Can you come to my house and pack the night before for me?

I feel the same way. I don't stress over it, but I need to pack a few days in advance just to make sure I don't forget something especially something our little ones are going to need.

My principal finally approved my leave today. I put it in weeks ago. I wasn't really worried that she would say no, I just wanted the confirmation. Now I just need to wait 16 more days!

Anyone else see the tweet today that they will be doing something at MK on October 1? I wonder what it will be? Wasn't planning on hopping over but now wondering if we should check it out? Hmmm! Do I want to change plans yet again?

Glad you finally got your leave approved! That's a relief!

And I wonder what will be going on?? We head out that day at about 11ish to catch our flight so probably won't be enough time to head over there, I hope it's nothing too fun! :lmao:

I don't use twitter so keep me updated!! We are supposed to start driving home October 1st but if there is something awesome happening I am sure we can leave late in the day :woohoo:

Janabanana - Great pic! Welcome back and I'll also be reading your TR :)

Mickeymouseclubhouse - Have an awesome time :wizard:

I wish packing was easy for me lol. I am a forgetful person by nature so I really need to check and double check. I have forgotten many, many things on different trips over the years lol. Not to mention the sheer volume with 6 of us. If it was just DH and I it would be a lot easier. Hopefully we get to try it sometime and find out :rolleyes1

My kids keep watching that youtube family video over and over and over. My 2 yo ran around the house all day saying "We're going to Disney World!!" :woohoo:

I know what you mean about the volume!! My list is a mile long and the funny thing is I'm not really much of an over-packer, plus I'm not taking much for clothes since we have a villa with a washer/dryer! 6 people need a heck of a lot of stuff! Our kids are close to the same ages too, mine are 3, 4, 7 and 9. :)

I keep watching the video too!! It makes me soooo excited!!! We got a new pocket video camera so I'm going to try to edit together a video montage too when we get home! :lovestruc

Well, all my last minute trip preparations were going fairly well, the day was flying by and going smoothly.....until DD5 decided she wanted to stop at the park that is right outside her dance class. Sure, I said, since DH dropped us off and we were a little early. Well not two minutes into playing she falls from a very small set of monkey bars (maybe 4ft?) right onto her face :sad2: She had a huge scrape on her chin, she was bleeding, and she knocked two of her bottom teeth loose :scared1:

DH called our dentist...said there's not much we can do. Just make her comfortable by giving her kids Motrin, ice, and put her on a soft diet.

Ugh, not how I planned this to go, poor thing :guilty: And DD8 came home from school with a runny nose.

So, I'm hoping this doesn't put too much of a damper on our trip because I am freaking out just a little bit

Oh no!!! Start giving DD8 lots of extra vitamins, especially Vit D and C, and I really hope your other daughter feels better soon! At least the 2 teeth on the bottom should still be baby teeth, right? Mickey waffles should still be soft enough for her to chew!

We will also be at MK on the first! We leave on the 2nd and its a tradition to spend the last day in MK so it worked out! We also have a dinner ressie at CRT for that night so we will be there all day! Hoping for something special, and also hoping the crowds stay low! Some people think its going to be wall to wall crowded :scared1: I really hope not!

Yeah my husband won a flip camera and I want to figure out how to make some sort of cool videos. I loathe the sound of my voice narrating so music would be a good thing :thumbsup2

So our kids are nearly the same age, we're going the same week and even leaving the same day lol and every time my kids see your ticker they think it is ours lol Great minds think alike :goodvibes

Oh and we also have a washer /dryer (staying off site at a condo) and while I stared at the three bags already packed I thought - what the heck would I do if I couldn't wash clothes? Eeegads!

Forthelove - Did you say pins Oct 1st? Has that been eluded to? Is there a "Guess what is happening Oct 1st" page/thread somewhere? :cool1:

Goodness, that's no good at all! Hope everyone starts feeling better fast. I will say though that my DD lost her first tooth at Disney, and the front desk staff at POP went above and beyond to make it special for her. A note and balloons from Tinkerbelle, and the tooth fairy, of course.

. It was a great dry run for Disney as I don't think any place we go will keep us in the restaurant for 3 hours! She did great and wasn't fussy at all even though it was past her bedtime.
.
A neat tip I picked up on these boards (and I plan on trying this trip) is to ask for the check after you've ordered (especially at a buffet) so then when you're done eating you can leave when you're ready instead of having to wait on a server!

That is probably why Disney food tastes so good (to me). No prep, no cooking and no clean-up! THAT'S a vacation in my book, all the rest of the magic is icing on the cake!
:

I completely agree! The last two nights before we leave we are getting subs and then having dinner out with our friend who is driving us to the airport Saturday morning...sooo Wednesday night is hte last night I have to do dishes! Tonight was like pulling teeth,,,and all I was doing was the drying while my bf washed !
We use the Lines app from Touringplans.com (the Unofficial Guide people). It is a lot of fun to check to see what the rides are! I last checked at 10am (11am WDW time) and there were still FP's available for TSM and everything else was a 20 minute or less wait except Soarin'.
I love this! Thanks for posting them!

We had a blast and did not want to leave "home". It was so much fun, and even though my feet would disagree, a wonderful time.

I will be making a trip report and will link it to my sig when I start it!

If you have any questions, please ask away!!

September is a great time to go. Our longest waits were for the buses (and those were not long at all) and the two times we were held hostage on rides, ie we were in line and there was a technical problem.

Janabananas-Glad to hear you had a great trip! Can't wait to read your trip report! Did you go to rope drop? And if you did, did you find an advantage in it?
Thanks!

At this time next week I'm going to be taking advantage of EMH at DHS!!

Thank-you to everyone for your kind words and helping me to feel better about DD5's accident :flower3: I'm sure she will be ok, it just got me a little frazzled right before we leave!

Just wanted to say :wave2: everyone! Today is the day and we're on our way!!! :dance3: We leave for the airport in 45 minutes!! :woohoo: Hope to see some of you there! Everyone leaving soon, have the most wonderful, magical trips!

I'll try to check into this thread if I can from my iphone!

Have a wonderful trip, BorkBorkBork! Her teeth will be okay, I know the timing is horrible, but it'll all work out!:goodvibes

Basketkat, congratulations to your DD, that's wonderful news! I know you're proud!
Welcome back, janabananas!:grouphug: Love the pic of you and DBF! I'm glad you had a good time, and jealous that you'll be back at WDW so soon.
:thumbsup2
Marblies, if I'm not on in time to send you off tomorrow, have an amazing girls trip!:cool1:
I've got everything we need to take written up and ready to go! I don't stress out over packing clothes or cameras, with us it's the medicine that gets me all knotted up. My meds list includes migraine meds, three inhalers, three oral asthma maintenance meds, my BP meds, two epipens, a refrigerated injectable, and a partridge in a pear tree.:rotfl2:I can't pack any of this stuff until right before we go out the door, so it always makes me twitchy. I've never forgotten to pack any vital meds, but I always worry that I will. I have six more work days, since I'm only working three days next week, so I'm ready to get this vacation going!:yay::yay::yay:

I came home from a wedding out of town on Sunday to see my son's whole face scratched up. I turn to my DH and said "Really?"

He fell off the monkey bars too, face down. Gotta love that I prepaid for Photopass. I am so sorry to hear that her teeth are loose and most of all that she is in pain. Hope she feels better today :wizard:

I will keep you updated. :thumbsup2

How did I miss this yesterday? Thanks!

Started reading rumors and one was that there would be a superfluous amount of characters. I am not sure that would be enough for me to want to stay. Will talk to DH about it. But last time on the day we left DH was trying to convince me to stay just one more day, so I don't think it would be too hard to convince him.

10 days from today we start driving!! :drive:

Scrapes, bruises, bumps and sniffles - :grouphug: - all will be better soon!

As for us, everyone is staying well and if I may sing off key...Tomorrow, tomorrow, we check-in tomorrow. It's only a daaaay aaawaaaaaay! :yay:

My theme song for the day!

Good trips everyone! I'll be reading, but probably not posting until I get back. Been so awesome waiting and planning with all of you.

12 DAYS until check in for us!!!!!! :cheer2:

it's actually 11 days until we leave. We drive so we will leave Saturday and stop overnight and drive the rest of the way on Sunday .

We can do online check in in 2 days... woohoo.

I have internet access on my phone so you will be hearing lots from me during the drive haha.

We LOVED!!!!! Raglan Road!! We loved the ambiance (be prepared for a loud live band). The food and our waiter Matt were all FANTASTIC!! It was the best dining experience we had our entire trip. The food wasn't complicated or "haute cuisine" like some places, but it was really delicious.

Here is the link to my TR, I will also be making a more indepth dining report.
The Bananas Take on WDW

We also love Ragland road. The past 2 years we have used the QSDP so we haven't been back. It just works better for now. We booked for 14 nights for next year for FD bounceback on the QSDP again. We are doing a few meals op. But I haven't even thought of which ones yet.
